- quokkapox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Please do not try to destroy IE. It is very handy for downloading Firefox/Opera.
- hausome, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15I doubt everyone is able to visit digg every single day of their lives......

You have no excuse. - birdadderley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7they should have called it the DIE campaign (Destroy IE or Death to IE)
- Farmer77, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Now if those people would put the same ingenuity and effort into saving Network neutrality.
- boycy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Why has this guy been buried for calling this crazy? Whilst I would rather use Fx than IE any day of the week, including Sunday, destroying it is unlikely and also dumb.
These guys are a bunch of idiots. People need to be told about other browsers and given good reasons, not blocked from a website and forced to download something. Particularly attacking Bill Gates is just idiotic - I expect this from the type of Linux obsessives who refuse to even consider MS for what it is and continually slag it off.
People, think about it. IE (and in fact, MS) benefits many people - granted not as much as Fx, but it does. Educate them, don't force them into a corner where they'll come to associate Fx with blocked sites and irritating adverts. - Quell23, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Awesome! wish I new about this a long time ago.
- niiru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5If your website is worth two ***** I'll just change my user agent string, although I doubt someone as immature as yourself would own a website containing much in the way of interesting content.
- Alphabet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Wow, you sound like a raving lunatic. At least use punctuation and capitalization when you rant. If you hate firefox that much, then block it then. No one will care either way.
- drlog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I wonder what happens if you browse a destroy IE page Safari/Opera/Lynx(hehe)? Does it still tell you to get FF?
- quokkapox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I know this is offtopic but my point relates to an earlier discussion about the merits of slashdot's versus digg's comment system. On slashdot, this tool would be modded -1 so many times, his karma would fall to -1 and his new posts would no longer become part of the discussion at the default viewing threshold. As it stands here on digg, we have to bury every single one of his posts.
Just sayin... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I agree, we should destroy Ireland and the Irish. Where do I sign up?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Go to school and learn how to punctuate and actually write a sentence. Then come back and comment about the actual story and maybe, just maybe, you won't seem like a complete dumbass.
- carpespasm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3a good topic for diggnation this week? come on krose, let us in on some stats. bandwidth, browser percentages, any other interesting tidbits?
- estacado, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Go here:
http://www.explorerdestroyer.com/
It gives you directions and advice on how to do this effectively according to your needs. - the_penguin_boy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I wonder what the IE/Firefox/Flock/Opera/Safari/Konqueror/Mozilla/Lynx ratio for digg actually is.
- carpespasm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3sorry penguin boy, we can't have cross pollenation of the digg and slashdot communities. we're gonna have to put you down. don't want any GNAA or cowboyneil! = krose jokes now do we? ;)
- takeda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Even though I'm Opera supporter, I still digg it. Anything is better than IE.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well, I'm sorry Hiseran. It's just a little annoying to read information about a story when you complain and overuse profanity and call anybody who has dugg this a "Firefox fanboy".
- ziadoz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What a petty and pathetic mission. Its just a bunch of morons trying to whip up a bit of contraversey and make some money in the process. IE7 Beta 2 has some great features (and good security) and I have no doubt the same features will magically appear in Firefox. Yeah I know, its all just sooooooooo anti-competitive. ;)
- the_penguin_boy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3...we'd all be getting messages saying, "Warning! You're using a browser that has more than 1% market share, and have therefore been deemed non-net-neutral. Please download Lynx."
- niiru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Browser neutrality is the next most important thing though ;)
*doesn't consider IE a browser due to serious lack of standards complience and inclusion of many non standard things*
On this note, why not modify this script to also suggest Opera? - magus_melchior, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You know, I heard a voice in my head speaking ziadoz' comment that sounded oddly like Sandy from Daria...
- the_penguin_boy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+41. Add Explorer Destroyer script to web site.
2. ???
3. Profit!
Oh, wait. That's a slashdot joke, isn't it? Crap. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"oh yeah ***** fanboys can go suck a dick firefox has a lot of issues and is not easier for developers trust me so forcing people to switch to firefox is ***** mozilla can go suck a dick im gonna block firefox from my sites"
I laughed at that.. Why is this guy still awake, doesn't he have school tomorrow? Maybe tomorrow he will learn what a run-on sentence is.
Google Adsense has been around for quite some time, but making money by making people switch to Firefox is new to me. It's not even that bad of an idea. But not everyone is willing to switch to something new that quickly. I know if I saw that on a page using IE and I didn't even know what Firefox was, I would just close the page and forget about it. I really don't see it making that much of a change, except just making the internet more frustrating for some people. - Tobey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Are we both thinking of the same IE7 here? Most of those "great features" were taken from Firefox.
- rm999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Please stop replying to the trolls. Hiseran's one comment has cluttered up these comments like crazy because so many people fell for it.
- rm999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"I feel sorry for the developers of Opera and the other standards compliant browsers out there that miss out on a lot of the hype."
I do too, but in all fairness it is Opera's fault for charging for their browser until so late in the game. They were charging for it well after firefox was a viable browser, which no doubt drove a large % of firefox's current base away. Mozilla is now making millions a year while Opera is struggling to give its browser away. - chembro84, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3It'd be interesting if Digg started using that script :) , but I think most people on digg use FF.
- spyres, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Not only a recent dupe, but pretty damn lame.
And that's coming from a fan of FF. - birdadderley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1...and a thesaurus
- the_penguin_boy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1His real name is Sniffles. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sniffles)
- magus_melchior, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Even better, DIE Internet Explorer for the recursive acronym.
- Takteek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I love their graph of "Wealth Transfer from Google to You" on explorerdestroyer.com.
http://www.explorerdestroyer.com/#getunder50 - boycy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You don't have much in your vocabulary other than 'fanboy' and '*****' do you?
Come one, this is a group of people attempting to discuss an issue - you are attempting to put a point across (I think) via insults and offensive comments. Not to mention the UTTER lack of punctuation, which IS important. If you can't even master the written language, the likelihood of your having grasped enough of this world to have a civilized discussion is 0.
A point which I think you proved perfectly yourself. - PrimoTurbo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think this is stupid because you are deliberately lying to people that they cannot view the page because of their browser for the dead serious option, this is a Microsoft tactic. I would rather favor an honest approach, a button on the site or a link on the site explaining on why firefox is in some ways better then internet explorer.
I love firefox and have been using it for a long time but some of the so called “facts” are a bunch of bs. “It stops viruses and spyware” Firefox doesn’t actually stop spyware and viruses, it simply doesn’t use active control x which minimizes the risk. If more people begin using firefox you will eventually see firefox being targeted for virus and spyware attacks. Granted that it’s possible that firefox is more secure, however there are definitely exploits just like with any software. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1niiru..the EXACT same thing goes for the ***** sites that force poeple to use something other than IE. Whenever I do bother opening Opera to view them, they NEVER have anything worth a ***** thing. It is just a stupid fanboy site bithcing like little girls about how evil Microsoft is.
The sad part is, they actually think that their little bitchfests are going to get people to swtich. - Agent_M, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1As much as I hate IE and love Firefox, this is ridiculous. Why not give people a choice instead of forcing the browser on them? This is a pretty low tactic to gain market share -- something I'd expect more from Microsoft.
- auhsor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sorry about the off topic post as well, but I think it's just as easy to block him. That's what I did. I don't mind burying a single comment from an annoying person, but if they continue, then it's time to use the block button. Oh and I think it's good if people reply to the relevent comments. Otherwise things become confusing.
And to stay on topic: I think that its an interesting proposition that may be extreme, but something really needs to be done. Firefox's growth has really been amazing, and the work of site like spreadfirefox have really helped. I feel sorry for the developers of Opera and the other standards compliant browsers out there that miss out on a lot of the hype. - quokkapox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"come on krose, let us in on some stats"
Why wait for him to publish stats? You can simply gather your own stats by getting a general interest story (hosted on your server) up on the front page. The hits on that story should accurately represent digg readers. You could even make the story title be "Click here to help collect Digg browser stats". - bgarmisa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Doesn't this violate the TOS of AdSense? You can't place incentives to click ads on your site...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Whether you guys like it or not, Hiseran has a *sock puppet*
In my opnion (I am sure most intelligent people would agree), any post that contains the word "fanboy" (and is not mocking those who use the word "fanboy") has no value whatsoever. - echoic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is getting stupid. Grown men and women are getting their panties in a bunch over what browser OTHER people use. Get a ***** grip people.
- Roger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This was on digg yesterday or the day before. There's a dupe checker for a reason.
- silenceHR, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1ummmmm.... you mean like tabbed browsing?
/me checks digg frontpage in other tab - Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0loo hoo sers
- rishimaharaj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Incorrect summary. The campaign is not paying the $1, Google is. The campaign is merely advocating the use of Google's program.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I love it-- Join us in the kind of mission we claimed Microsoft attempted to create an anti-competitive environment on the Internet. Come one dumbass, come all, don't think, we're Open Source so we're infallible!
- carpespasm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1i don't think you should just dump all IE users right to FF since there are some issues you might wind up with like windows update and some video plugins, but ***** off about FF bashing. a stray memory leak here and there beats out over having my machine rootkitted and raped by spyware 4 min after i go online any day of the week. not to mention the plethora of awesome extensions (adblock and filterset+g updater mandatory)
- pwrstick, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Well yeah, but 4 days? Come on!
