- nospinhere, on 04/02/2008, -30/+1I thought the last beta was supposed to be the final beta? I am sick of seeing these Firefox 3 stories on the front page for the past year and nothing to show for it. Put up by releasing version 3.0 or keep this ***** off the front page.
- ElBeh, on 04/03/2008, -0/+13No, they've been saying they'd have five betas in total ever since B2 was released. It's not Mozilla's fault you cannot read.
- mzkply, on 04/03/2008, -0/+4Cool it mano, the Release Candidates must still be released!
- ThreeDee912, on 04/02/2008, -3/+4Then why does every release of WINE get to the front page also?
- Petronski, on 04/03/2008, -0/+16What version of WHINE are you using?

- SQLserver, on 04/02/2008, -4/+45Hell of a lot better then IE 7's 12.
And I believe they have passed the Acid2 test.- init100, on 04/02/2008, -2/+47Even IE8 Beta gets a ridiculously low Acid3 score, 18/100. The Microsoft IE team should be ashamed of themselves.
- jonnyboy88, on 04/03/2008, -5/+8IE8 Beta JUST came out. FF 3 Beta came out almost 5 months ago.
- init100, on 04/04/2008, -2/+1So? Microsoft just released its first *public* beta. It sure had closed betas before the public beta was released. Firefox, on the other hand, is developed out in the open, and did not have any closed betas.

When I tried it I only got 5.
What version are you using?- sint4x, on 04/02/2008, -0/+24I initially got 5, but if you wait a few seconds it jumps to 12.
- darlyn, on 04/03/2008, -1/+1Lol, I tried it on IE7 (ActiveX enabled) and the little animation didn't even render correctly.

- schizogony, on 04/02/2008, -3/+59What exactly does this test do?

- sishgupta, on 04/03/2008, -3/+7http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acid3
It is a web standards compliance test.
I am not sure why jjpertusch is getting dugg up, when he is only partially correct. Do that many people really not know what the acid tests are about?- Kral, on 04/03/2008, -0/+3Sadly, Digg's loss of tech focus has left it a wasteland of lolcats.

- corde5, on 04/02/2008, -5/+16I believe it scores the same as Beta 4 did. That's good, because it shows they're working toward a stable build instead of increasing the likeliness of new regressions.
- init100, on 04/02/2008, -0/+43Beta 4 scored 68/100.
- aladrin, on 04/02/2008, -0/+21Don't forget that some of the bug/stability fixes might also improve the Acid3 score as well. Just because it increases doesn't mean they were paying attention to it.
- init100, on 04/02/2008, -0/+43Beta 4 scored 68/100.
- iHatemacintosh, on 04/02/2008, -23/+8My safari got a 75.

- luchid, on 04/02/2008, -3/+6Webkit passed it first. Nightly available weeks ago before the Opera one.
- Totz83, on 04/02/2008, -5/+1Webkit isn't a branded browser though in reality
- manitoba98xp, on 04/03/2008, -0/+4@Totz83
Opera was the first to announce that they had compatibility, WebKit was first to have it in a public build. Neither has a 100/100 final build yet, but the next version of Safari and Opera will likely contain the patches. - mzkply, on 04/03/2008, -0/+4To put it all to rest, Opera announced it first, but the animation wasn't right and Webkit later found a bug in the test. Then Acid3 released an update, and Webkit got 100/100 first.
- barktwiggs, on 04/02/2008, -1/+4In terms of cosmic scale, Webkit and Opera passed the Acid3 Test simulataneously. Webkit was the first to publicly release their version, and Opera shortly afterwards released their Win GOGI (Generic Opera Graphical Interface). However, as of yet, no one has done a public release of a non-beta build for an Acid3 compliant browser.

- tehrob, on 04/02/2008, -2/+12On my mac, the acid test always beachballs from 54 to 71, I wish they would fix that, as I suspect it is the same thing that beachballs Firefox at other times while browsing.
- drunk3nrabbit, on 04/02/2008, -4/+8what kind o verb is "beachballs?"
- pagemap, on 04/03/2008, -0/+10Beachball is an Apple term. When software is busy, the mouse will change to look like a beach ball. It's the same as the hourglass on windows.
- GliTCH82, on 04/03/2008, -5/+3Well, I don't get any hourglassing on Windows with the acid test.
- runep, on 04/03/2008, -2/+13Verbing "beachball" is perfectly cromulent.

- skylights, on 04/02/2008, -4/+1Strange, isn't Safari 3.1 supposed to get 100?

- zombies187, on 04/02/2008, -0/+1Is this test definitive or is there a broader world of tests to look at?
- miken32, on 04/03/2008, -1/+4Yes, it's called the Internet.
- sishgupta, on 04/03/2008, -0/+2It is a test created by the same oversight group (W3C, or the World Wide Web Consortium) that defines all the main web technologies like HTML, XML, CSS, CGI, DOM, SVG, etc.
IMHO that makes the test definitive.
- slythfox, on 04/02/2008, -1/+5All the cool kids use FF3 Nightly. ;)
They had been updating their engine to get better scores on acid3, but Mozilla doesn't care about that anymore so they've been ignoring it. It is still at 71/100 for the nightlies to date, and I don't expect mozilla to try to improve that score. - rye425, on 04/03/2008, -2/+15LOL!!! the first is what i got for firefox and the second IE7 (btw letting that activx thingy run did not fix it)
FIREFOX http://aycu29.webshots.com/image/50988/20024462488 ...
IE7 http://aycu15.webshots.com/image/50854/20024843108 ...- sjmulder, on 04/03/2008, -6/+3You're comparing the latest beta with an age old stable.
- rye425, on 04/03/2008, -2/+8And your point? I'm comparing IE7's "stable" to firefox's beta and IE7 cant even load the page right. What am I supposed to be comparing to?
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 04/03/2008, -2/+8Compare the IE8 Beta with FF3 beta.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 04/03/2008, -0/+6There it is IE7 scores 100 on Acid 3.

- XXXXXXXXXXXXXX, on 04/03/2008, -9/+1acid3 test can suck my dick and so does your face
- rpgmaker, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1Here hoping they could make it before ubuntu 8.04 ships :/
- soogy, on 04/02/2008, -73/+3I give it 100/100 for memory leaking goodness.
- xAPx, on 04/02/2008, -12/+169F.Y.I. Adblock isn't yet compatible. They are usually on it so hopefully it won't be too long.
- DaveMN, on 04/02/2008, -3/+72Working fine for me after turning off compatibility checking:
http://lifehacker.com/355973/make-your-extensions- ...- daizaru, on 04/02/2008, -0/+16Thanks for that!
- toddomatic, on 05/20/2008, -0/+4Thanks, that worked great.
- Rijnzael, on 04/02/2008, -0/+2If this causes instability for any of you trying it, you can delete the extensions directories (their names are GUIDs) in the Mozilla Firefox extension directory. Making the changes suggested caused my browser to crash on startup, likely due to the extension for my fingerprint reader.
- jazzboyrules, on 04/02/2008, -0/+9Well, it is acting weird for me. The ABP is active, but the ads are bypassing ABP! I still see the ads.
- spinxter, on 04/02/2008, -0/+1Didn't work for me either (OSX version)
- prophetpimp, on 04/02/2008, -0/+1Works on some site but not on others.
- Kickboy, on 04/02/2008, -0/+7If you want a more secure approach to this that does it on a extension-by-extension basis, then install the Nightly Tester Tools extension. This lets you go to your addon manager, and select exactly which extensions you want to make compatible. I personally prefer this better over lifehacker's solution, which is a all-or-nothing way of doing it.
Here it is: http://www.oxymoronical.com/web/firefox/nightly - carrera594, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1So far this works for me, DownHelper and Tab Effect are working fine.
- phantom_mullet, on 04/02/2008, -1/+69Gah! I just installed it and noticed this after Digg's homepage almost gave me a seizure.
- driftwood07, on 04/02/2008, -0/+10same here with a giant purple pulsing banner
- GliTCH82, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1Oh God. Ads! *dies*
- mooninite, on 04/02/2008, -3/+43Switch to Adblock Plus, which is 100% compatible with Firefox 3. The original Adblock is done; no more updates.
- mooninite, on 04/02/2008, -1/+21Argh, I take back what I said. Adblock Plus is only set as compatible up to beta 4. I doubt the jump to beta 5 put in any incompatibilities, but I'm sure the Plus version will update soon. The original version won't.
- ElBeh, on 04/03/2008, -5/+1It's working fine for me, dude.
- patik, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1It actually doesn't work for beta 5 -- meaning it doesn't block the ads. It worked fine in beta 4 even before it was 'officially' supported, although it lost the ability to right-click on an image to block it (you have to manually add the URL in the AdBlock prefs).

- 1n4007, on 04/02/2008, -0/+17Adblock Plus doesn't work anymore, but the dev version does ( http://adblockplus.org/devbuilds/adblockplus-0.7.5 ... )
- polywaffle, on 04/02/2008, -1/+3Doesn't work for me, still says its incompatible
- danomagnum, on 04/03/2008, -0/+3It would appear that you need both the devel and to disable compatability check
- polywaffle, on 04/02/2008, -1/+3Doesn't work for me, still says its incompatible
- Ossuary, on 04/02/2008, -0/+3My fingers are crossed it gets updated quick!
- protocolor, on 04/02/2008, -0/+7you can also install the nightly tester tools extension which will make any incompatible extensions compatible with a single click.
- TheRunes, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1Not all extensions will work. I like the Google Browser Sync. It doesn't work. It wont work with nightly tester tools because it works with the bookmarks.html file. Firefox 3 doesn't use that. They use SQLite for the bookmarks. Same for Sage RSS reader. Until they update the extensions, they wont work on FF3.
- firebirdx01, on 04/02/2008, -1/+2noooo i need my adblock. south park with commercials...=(
- speaker219, on 04/03/2008, -0/+10I just force it to work the old fashioned way. Here is Adblock plus that works with ff3b5:
http://sp219.k4r1m.com/adblock-plus-firefox3b5.htm ...
You may need to save the file, and drag it into the "add-ons" dialog manually, if it doesn't prompt you to install.
All you have to do is change this line:
3.0b5pre
to
3.0b5
But i've already done that for you :)- firebirdx01, on 04/03/2008, -0/+3dude it worked. you are awesome- back to ad-free southpark.
- theVariable, on 04/03/2008, -0/+2You're my hero. This day, I salute you!
- Chancellor740, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1Horray!
- gmprunner, on 04/03/2008, -3/+1I haven't been able to run beta 4 or 5 on my Mac, it crashes almost as soon as I launch it and then the crash reporter rears its ugly head. Anyone else having this problem?
- HerrSchnuff, on 04/03/2008, -1/+1Get Leopard
- DRFU, on 04/03/2008, -4/+2Why not just use NoScript?
- patik, on 04/03/2008, -0/+5Because the web sucks without Javascript.
- patik, on 04/03/2008, -2/+2Because the web sucks without Javascript.
- mw113, on 04/03/2008, -0/+4and no script doesn't really block ads
- guy6600crazy, on 04/04/2008, -0/+1We can block ad images just by right clicking on the image and selecting "Block images from"
I have blocked all the ads in digg. :) Now digg looks very clean. This is not as handy as the extension though. - guy6600crazy, on 04/04/2008, -0/+1Another Alternative to Adblock extension:
1. Install "Stylish" firefox extension https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2108/ Its compatible with ff3b5
2. Load "Ad Blocking FiltersetP" userstyle http://userstyles.org/styles/299
All ads will be blocked.
- DaveMN, on 04/02/2008, -3/+72Working fine for me after turning off compatibility checking:
- pcabellor, on 04/02/2008, -2/+12In depth review here: http://mozillalinks.org/wp/2008/04/firefox-3-beta- ...
- jcannonb, on 04/02/2008, -0/+107I run FF3 on Mac OS X, Linux (FC9) and Windows. Was using Safari, but when FF3 beta came out, the streamlined UI to make it blend in with the given OS you are on simply sold me. The speed enhancements are amazing too. I love what FF has done!!!
- Tyr7BE, on 04/02/2008, -2/+27Yeah it's a HUGE improvement over FF2 on OS X. Actually a very decent browser, snappier than Camino. I've switched to using it full time on my iBook G4, a machine which could _barely_ run FF2. Works like a champ.
- silfiriel, on 04/02/2008, -10/+3I can't say you've done the right thing. I'm just trying out Safaari and man, that thing is fast. Seriously it's much faster than Firefox 3
- jcannonb, on 04/02/2008, -3/+1You are simply smoking multiple strains of pot. That is the only way you could Think Safari is faster than FF3.
- iainc, on 04/02/2008, -1/+5Yep, same here. Much quicker than it's predecessor. Very impressed. The UI is nice, too.
Anyone else having problems getting Safari 3.1 on OS X to work with Digg buttons?- irow, on 04/03/2008, -2/+3No problem with digg buttons on Safari 3.1. I have actually switched back to Safari from FF3 betas because of speed and memory issues. Maybe once FF3 is out of beta things will get slimmed down.
- itsmikey, on 04/03/2008, -1/+3I like it a lot, and it seems fast as hell, but the way FF3 scrolls up/down pages while browsing bugs the hell out of me. Even with "smooth scrolling" enabled, Safari is so much smoother and more intuitive. I'm going to stick with Safari for now. Until the scrolling is changed, FF3 will be on my HDD just to load pages Safari has trouble with.
- MxM111, on 04/03/2008, -1/+2Seeing all this positive comments I decided to give a shot (I suffered with the Firefox 2 betas, so I wanted to wait with Firefox 3 until the release) But this thing is so good AND SO INSAINLY FAST!!!
- patbingsoup, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1while i really like the new places system and tagging/bookmarks along with the new address drop down I can't stand the theme. however grapple by takebacktheweb.org matches so well to safari that sometime i get them confused.
- m1zl3d, on 04/02/2008, -13/+70They remove my home button! How am I suppose to get Home now? D:
- m1zl3d, on 04/02/2008, -2/+14Never mind I fixed it. This did the trick for me: View -> Toolbars -> Customize
Now if only Web Developer Toolbar and Adblock will update!- WhereAmI, on 04/02/2008, -8/+5I don't think you should have the web developer toolbar installed if you complain about the home button before going to customize.
- theaceoffire, on 04/02/2008, -0/+1Do what I did:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/654 ... - onionsFTW, on 04/03/2008, -0/+0web developer now working. instead of adblock, I use stylish with adblock filtersetP, which now works too.
- philgmo, on 04/02/2008, -0/+10I think by default it gets moved to the bookmarks bar now. I know for sure that you can put it back in the toolbar by customizing it.
- Vyrotic, on 04/02/2008, -2/+7alt + home ?
- jtanunleashed, on 04/02/2008, -0/+2Or, shock horror, typing the web address XD
- theAlice, on 04/02/2008, -4/+2Should have used Mapquest, it would've been faster D:
- j1ggy, on 04/02/2008, -1/+32Call a cab.
- Kypt, on 04/02/2008, -0/+2 If you're under customize you can drag the home bookmark into the button bar and you'll get the home button. Not sure why they decided to change this instead of just leaving it optional but thats how you can get it back.
- Okari, on 04/02/2008, -2/+7Phone home.

- twigboy, on 04/02/2008, -0/+5google maps?
- nandasunu, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1web developer toolbar works

- Philluminati, on 04/02/2008, -1/+37I only installed beta 4 like 10 minutes ago. :-(
It's faster though, it makes a difference to loading the comments page.- jtanunleashed, on 04/02/2008, -0/+3I haven't ever seen a browser this fast - even with AdBlock Plus I'm betting it'l be faster than FF2 and IE7
I estimated load time from clicking the QuickLaunch button of around 2-3 seconds.
Gmail took about 1-2 seconds to load from clicking the bookmark to viewing the full inbox- parallax7d, on 04/03/2008, -0/+0might have more to do with server latency than rendering speed
- jtanunleashed, on 04/02/2008, -0/+3I haven't ever seen a browser this fast - even with AdBlock Plus I'm betting it'l be faster than FF2 and IE7
- seldon452, on 04/02/2008, -2/+93I didn't download this yet but on all the other betas digg dose not stop loading. Am I the only one who gets this?
- natmaster, on 04/02/2008, -3/+22No: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40356 ...
Vote for the bug if you want it fixed.- kbrosnan, on 04/02/2008, -0/+25It is not something that voting for the bug will fix.*There is nothing for Firefox to fix.* Digg and the advertisers on Digg need to fix a server setting.
- fkr3, on 04/03/2008, -0/+3Digg needs to learn how to write JavaScript and replace the huge bundle of ***** they use with the couple of kilobytes of ***** they need.
- sirhomer, on 04/02/2008, -0/+7Interestingly enough it's a problem with the adverts on Digg, specifically the ones coming from Microsoft.
- theaceoffire, on 04/02/2008, -0/+2If you block them using noscript, the problem disappears.
- kbrosnan, on 04/02/2008, -0/+25It is not something that voting for the bug will fix.*There is nothing for Firefox to fix.* Digg and the advertisers on Digg need to fix a server setting.
- Tyr7BE, on 04/02/2008, -8/+1Yes. I've had no problems.
- RevoFM, on 04/02/2008, -3/+1Yes we have no, bananas, today!
- m1zl3d, on 04/02/2008, -1/+15Same happens for me. It shows that it is still "loading" even though the page is done loading.
Quick check and it still does that in Beta 5.- jayleb, on 04/02/2008, -0/+5same as m1zl3d here :(
- TheSpook, on 04/03/2008, -0/+5Interesting. I was getting that issue with Beta 4, however, when I installed Beta 5, it seems to have gone away. Digg now finishes loading pages. (Blame MSN if you will, but it's still Digg's responsibility to request a fix IMO).
- withincontext, on 04/03/2008, -0/+3Not happening to me in Beta 5, but it was in 4. Issue is resolved, here.
- SysstemLord, on 04/03/2008, -0/+3Same here, it's gone with beta 5
- onionsFTW, on 04/03/2008, -0/+0same here. seems to be fixed with FF3b5
- TheWindBlows, on 04/02/2008, -1/+15Its an advertisement that keeps going because it doesn't like the firefox 3 User Agent.
Best you can do is complain to Digg or its advertisers mainly microsoft. - init100, on 04/02/2008, -1/+19It is msn.com's fault. When using NoScript and disallowing scripts for msn.com, it works fine.
- uziko, on 04/02/2008, -0/+15diggs fault for using faulty websites like msn
- rowlodge, on 04/02/2008, -1/+4yeah, said that last time ,just got dugg down, you just confirmed it for me, i reinstalled my OS then then FF and it didnt make any difference.
- NiNiCraftOne, on 04/02/2008, -1/+3I bought a new computer, 'downgraded" to XP, tried a new backup power supply that 'conditions' the electrons, then installed FF and what do you know?! -- no difference at all.....
- DiFosfor, on 04/02/2008, -3/+4No problems with FF3b4 here, but I think that's because I use adblock.
- saadghauri, on 04/03/2008, -0/+10I had the same problem, but beta 5 is no longer doing it. Yay!
- phillashcroft, on 04/03/2008, -1/+0ajax honey
- chilipeppers4u, on 04/03/2008, -0/+3FF3B4 and B5 were doing it until a couple of hours ago for me. Now they seem to be fine - Digg may have fixed a server setting.
On an unrelated note, starting today some digg pages seem to randomly appear in italics. Is anyone else getting this?

- PueSi, on 04/02/2008, -2/+62FF3 since beta 3 feels so stable and fast that if it wasn't for the title bar, you wouldn't know it's a beta. Not even ONE crash since it was released (beta 3).

- Ramble, on 04/02/2008, -12/+8I'm a long time Opera user and I'm using the Opera 9.5 beta (bleeding edge versions) so I'd thought I'd do a comparison. Not bad, but it is still slower than Opera and lacks the features that Opera has.
- natmaster, on 04/02/2008, -2/+2http://blogs.zdnet.com/hardware/?p=1648
- Ramble, on 04/02/2008, -1/+3Notice they're running an old version of Opera 9.5. That's as biased as me testing my latest version against Firefox 3 beta 1.
- d4ni, on 04/02/2008, -0/+2Opera 9.5's latest (public, ofcourse) build does 79 on Acid 3 and it's getting faster each build. Totally unfair to keep testing the 9.5 beta build that was released October 25th, 2007 (!). Bias, pure bias.
- RX8SaxMan, on 04/02/2008, -3/+1^yeah that. FF3 is definitely the faster browser I've used. Opera just "feels" faster because of the way it prefetches links. When you click on the Back or Forward buttons in Opera, it loads the page when the mouse button goes down, while the other browsers wait until you release the button. Sneaky little bastards, the Opera people are ;)
- Ramble, on 04/02/2008, -0/+4Opera doesn't prefetch links and it doesn't load the page when the mouse button goes down..
- HigherLogic, on 04/02/2008, -0/+4Actually, Firefox prefetches links. Opera uses an enhanced caching mechanism. So when you use the back/forward button, you're getting a completely cached page. Go ahead, try it in Firefox. Find a website with a form, fill it out and submit it. Then hit the back button. Watch what pops up (a dialog box about POST data).
As for loading new data (uncached), it's based on redrawing (and whatever you decide to set that as), e.g. redraw instantly, after X seconds, or after the entire page loads.
- DildarBixby, on 04/02/2008, -1/+2One of you are lying to me...

I've tried installing multiple times (and each time it downloads using Firefox's built in add-on manager) and every time, the same error. Been having this issue since Beta 4...

- fescen9, on 04/02/2008, -9/+3I don't get where everyone is saying FF3 uses less memory.
I've tried both beta 4 and beta 5 and they both use a lot MORE memory for me (even with the plugins disabled in 5 due to compatibility).
FF2 with the same user preferences I'm using in FF3 used precisely 60.7MB upon first load after stabilizing.
FF3b5 uses 82.9MB.
I can't be the only one that's seeing this...- fescen9, on 04/02/2008, -4/+1And before anyone says it, maybe because AdBlock isn't blocking the ads, but I saw this same behavior with beta 4 which AdBlock worked for (when i got around to trying it).
- tagnarth, on 04/02/2008, -0/+5I've seen a huge drop after using FFb4 for a day. I go to lots of sites, open and close tons of tabs. Instead of ballooning up to like 600 megs used it stays around 200. That's a huge improvement in my eyes
- theaceoffire, on 04/02/2008, -0/+2Firefox 2 can end up using 800 or more MB.
Firefox 3 fixes this.
- italics, on 04/02/2008, -5/+0I've been using Firefox 3 beta for a while now, and it's incredible how much spyware has decreased from version 2. Usually I'd get 40 pops on average when running Adaware, now I'm lucky to get 1 or 2.
- Sic133, on 04/02/2008, -0/+3I haven't gotten one since 1.5, and I usually have 10-20 tabs open at all times. Must be something else, like the sites you visit and pop-up settings you have.
- luchid, on 04/02/2008, -1/+2Cookies != Spyware. Ad-Aware includes tracking cookies on it's "spyware" count. Firefox by default will accept cookies, just like every browser out there. Most sites don't work correctly without having cookies enabled, too. Spyware is more serious an is the sort of crap that gets through by just using IE.
- zongamin, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1What the ***** are you talking about? I don't get any pop ups or spyware for years.

- luchid, on 04/02/2008, -0/+1No need to reinstall. Just choose Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode) in the Firefox folder in the start menu. It's there for a reason. It will let you disable extensions, themes, restore user settings and clear profiles before starting up.

- richiestang78, on 04/02/2008, -0/+6Is there no way to turn off annoying address bar auto complete, i cant stand having that drop down menus of things, I know what I want to go to, i dont want a huge list of previous places and my bookmarks coming up.
- Bokito, on 04/02/2008, -0/+10Funny that you say that. I find that feature super useful. Don't know how to turn it off. Try about:config. It might be there.
- willfe, on 04/02/2008, -0/+7It's only mildly annoying in that if your mouse pointer happens to be on an area of the screen where the drop-down box appears when you start typing, if you press [enter] (because you've actually typed the whole/complete URL) it will actually select the item the mouse is pointing at instead of accepting what you typed (because the menu automatically highlights the item being pointed at). A bit of a nuisance sometimes.
- theaceoffire, on 04/02/2008, -1/+5Quote from another helpful person:
Firefox 3.0b4 How to shut off location urlbar places autocomplete dropdown:
1. Open Tab, type in urlbar 'about:config', hit enter.
2. In about:config search box, type 'browser.urlbar.maxRichResults'
3. Double click the entry, change the 25 to 0. This effectively disables the 'places' dropdown which many think is very annoying.
Best regards,
M Chris Neglia

- imitationflavor, on 04/02/2008, -5/+5FF is becoming like an operating system, adding features that you'd use to need add-ons (programs) for. Tabbed browsing was once its "big thing", but now thats like Paint in Windows. How far its come. Unlike Windows, they're welcomed additions. ;)

- korbink, on 04/02/2008, -0/+2Is everybody that has upgraded having this problem with Digg? I just upgraded and I'm now having this issue, it's very annoying.
- KINGGS, on 04/03/2008, -0/+3I'm not having it.
- sirhomer, on 04/02/2008, -0/+7It's related to the MSN adverts on Digg.
- sc4s2cg, on 04/02/2008, -0/+2I thought it's just because it keeps loading something. When I get way too annoyed with it I just click the stop button next to the back/forward/refresh buttons while in the tab. It stops it and the little digger icon appears. :)
- luchid, on 04/02/2008, -2/+3It's a badly configured setting on MSN's side (what a surprise).
- Shizlanski, on 04/02/2008, -1/+1I dont see it with FF3b4 and Adblock+ installed.
- andycr512, on 04/03/2008, -0/+2It stopped after I installed a rather strict hosts file. Googling "hosts file" should turn it up.

- ileftfark, on 04/02/2008, -3/+5I like what they've done *except* for the "awesome bar". it blows.
about:config fix: Find "browser.urlbar.maxRichResults" set it to 0.- Protoss, on 04/02/2008, -0/+5Man I think this is the best feature of FF3, I could never remember the exact address of a site, but could remember the title of the page. With this, I can type in the title of a Simpsons episode wiki that I looked up earlier and take me right to the wiki, so damn useful.
- crazysamz, on 04/02/2008, -2/+6Anyone else getting this annoying problem that makes the beta completely unusable??-
http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/8918/weirdwe3.j ...
I even disabled all extensions and tried again, no luck. I then uninstalled and installed again, no luck. Anyone know what's up??- uziko, on 04/02/2008, -2/+22hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha no
- crazysamz, on 04/02/2008, -3/+2I didn't make this up (I didn't use paint/photoshop) That's my response if you were being a dick and pretending to be sarcastic about the hahahaing,
...if you weren't sarcastic and you meant to help me but you were saying no meaning that you didn't know how to fix this, then I'm sorry for calling you a dick for thinking something you meant something else. - trickyt, on 04/02/2008, -1/+8He means "hahahahahahahahahahhaa" as in you have a Zune bookmark in that pic. :P
- falafelkiosken, on 04/02/2008, -0/+2I feel a conspiracy
- ccaazz, on 04/02/2008, -0/+2hahahahaha
hahahaha
haha
ha!
(it might be a real problem, but its a rather funny one at that :)
- crazysamz, on 04/02/2008, -3/+2I didn't make this up (I didn't use paint/photoshop) That's my response if you were being a dick and pretending to be sarcastic about the hahahaing,
- porkdanish, on 04/02/2008, -0/+6Where's the problem? My FF has always looked like that.
- natmaster, on 04/02/2008, -0/+1Weird. I would file a bug if I were you. That's the great thing about open source projects, its easy to make sure your weird problems are fixed. :D
- joshboese, on 04/02/2008, -0/+4Try going to View > Toolbars > Customize.... and click "Restore Default Set" yet?
- crazysamz, on 04/02/2008, -0/+4thx, this worked. NM then, this isn't a bug...
- PikeUK, on 04/02/2008, -0/+0Try View->Toolbars->Customize, "Restore Default Set". If that doesn't fix it go into your profile and delete "localstore.rdf".
- trickyt, on 04/02/2008, -2/+1.
why won't they let you delete a comment in the 2min edit window?- crazysamz, on 04/02/2008, -2/+1Hey, I write for a Zune blog, so I constantly check the site. And the forums are pretty cool, you know, seeing if there's anything cool being discussed there. It's also why I keep a Microsoft bookmark, in case there's anything Zune-related there.
- Labut, on 04/03/2008, -1/+2It is a known bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42507 ...
- koick, on 04/03/2008, -0/+2https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42507 ...
- uziko, on 04/02/2008, -2/+22hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha no
- sevs, on 04/02/2008, -3/+2Man, five betas later and it still crashes when I run Google Documents or Google Reader, what's up!?
- natmaster, on 04/02/2008, -0/+2Doesn't do that for me. File a bug and be sure to include your system specs, as this seems to be a fairly isolated case.
- poutch, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1what's up? beta
- Lemon, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1hmmm I'm a Google Reader addict and mine's never crashed once. using Beta4 on Leopard.
- dvddxn, on 04/04/2008, -0/+0Its a know issue with Google Gears:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42315 ...
I disabled Gears, and now it works great!
- 4DFX, on 04/02/2008, -0/+13I love how it smoothly loads a Digg article with 500+ comments!
- daxsymbiont, on 04/02/2008, -4/+5like opera
- 4DFX, on 04/02/2008, -0/+4Sure, like Opera. But I can't use Opera because Youtube on 64bit Opera no workee.
So I'm really looking forward to FF3!
- 4DFX, on 04/02/2008, -0/+4Sure, like Opera. But I can't use Opera because Youtube on 64bit Opera no workee.
- daxsymbiont, on 04/02/2008, -4/+5like opera
- jiludi, on 04/02/2008, -10/+3getting fatter and fatter
- stomachache, on 04/02/2008, -3/+9I'd regularly go to a gym and start a diet if I were you.
- Tyr7BE, on 04/02/2008, -1/+7Actually getting slimmer and slimmer. The memory footprint is now the lowest out of all major browsers. That means it uses LESS memory than Opera, Safari, IE7, or IE8
- PlancksCnst, on 04/02/2008, -0/+1I think he meant "phatter and phatter".

- PlancksCnst, on 04/02/2008, -0/+1I think he meant "phatter and phatter".
- fullbug, on 04/02/2008, -0/+5Do you have to completly uninstall the old Firefox version before installing this?
- stomachache, on 04/02/2008, -1/+10No... it installs in a different directory.
- danielrhodes, on 04/02/2008, -0/+1Try downloading the portable version. Then you don't have to mess with the installation: http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_port ...
- daxsymbiont, on 04/02/2008, -2/+1afetr the betas they'll go for the gammas.
- nbrntrt, on 04/02/2008, -0/+3Yeah!!! they fixed the printing problems! Firefox, you are my new best friend :)
- andycr512, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1Those drove me nuts for ages. Printing over a Windows network would cause a 32,768-page -empty- print job to be spat out the target printer - complete with "page (x) of 32,768" footers. On local printers, printing selection wouldn't really work at all. I was certain I was the only one...
- Nebetsu, on 04/02/2008, -0/+1I hate the smoothing when a page forcibly resizes an image. How do I disable this?
- 4321234, on 04/02/2008, -1/+0This is for FF2, but you could try it. I'm waiting for FF3.
1) type about:config in urlwindow and hit enter
2) type resiz in the filter window
3) change boolean value (double click) for 'browser.enable_image_resizing'
4) mail me a dollar
- 4321234, on 04/02/2008, -1/+0This is for FF2, but you could try it. I'm waiting for FF3.
- jetblackz4, on 04/02/2008, -2/+1Will this one automatically be downgraded ( back to 2 ) after some time automatically like the past beta versions??/
- cubicrystal, on 04/02/2008, -18/+2downloaded, uninstalled, installed, tweaked, added, substracted items, buttons the results:
hours spent in all for this browser : 37 hours 43 minutes 25 seconds including crashes, freezes, stallings, slowness in running when Opera was 2x faster, being forced into using the alternatives because STILL 47% of all websites are not FF friendly. 37 hours and change. That's a day and a half - a sunrise, mid-day and sunset I could've been present for while I was battling trying to tame FF - but instead it made me a slave to it. So - what? You say a NEW version is out?
I think I'll just sit this one out and watch the moon rise instead.
Let me know when the revolution begins.- PlancksCnst, on 04/02/2008, -0/+3Are you serious? I'm a very heavy user, and I only have to use a different browser for exactly one thing: abc.com online tv shows - because of their drm plugin. There surely aren't any more Opera friendly websites than FF friendly. Since Opera 9 (stupid widget platform), it really isn't any faster than FF.
- JamesMorris, on 04/02/2008, -0/+6You're a ***** idiot, go outside.
- agentbad, on 04/02/2008, -1/+3You may have spent 5 minutes trying to use it and where you got your crazy percentages no one will ever know.
- wolfboyZ, on 04/02/2008, -1/+3Name 10 of these websites that are not FF friendly. Shouldn't be too hard for you since there's 47% of them.
- onionsFTW, on 04/03/2008, -0/+0BAWWWWWWWW!!! troll? fanboy? can't decide.
- Ignitedude, on 04/02/2008, -7/+1downloading right now.
