- shaneau, on 10/12/2007, -4/+72Don't direct link to Mozilla's FTP. They have mirrors for a reason...
http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ - zjbird, on 10/12/2007, -12/+47why do people digg this crap...they can find out when firefox does an auto update. I don't care if I get dugg down, I just think it's the gayest thing ever
- Scatropolis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+30I haven't had a single problem with firefox on vista so let's not jump to blaming anything but maybe his computer.
- gk128, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21I got it through auto update.
After it installed it gave me some warning about Java not working right, but I tested it and it seems to be. - greatblackowl, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22Great Idea! He should just go purchase OS X and install it on his....
Oh wait. Nevermind. - inspecality, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Mine updated automatically... am I the only one?
- noseeme, on 10/12/2007, -7/+20There is no memory leak, jackoff.

Security Issues Fixed - http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/known-vulnerabilities.html#firefox2.0.0.3 - Hale, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13I never had any problems with Firefox in Vista RC2 (3 months+) and I've yet to have a single problem with Firefox in Vista Business (1 month+).
- Cl1mh4224rd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13I'm more convinced than ever that Firefox's "memory leak" problem is caused by plugins (not necessarily extensions; I'm talking Flash, etc.).
A couple weeks ago at work I checked out my local weather using Weather.com's slick, new interactive weather map. I set it animating and then completely forgot about it. After maybe 4 hours I switched back to Firefox and my HDD starting thrashing like nothing I've ever heard. After a while I managed to get Task Manager to pop up and there's Firefox at almost 900MB. - Wisgary, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Yeah, I don't get the not available officially thing, since, you know, we got the thing earlier today through an auto update.
- DoodleMaster, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14darn :( the little 2.0.0.3 message didn't pop up on my machine until about 67 seconds ago...I thought i might finally get a popular story :( *tear*
- yakk0dotorg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Synaptic works for more than just Ubuntu...
sigh... - Portfolioso, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6>>http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/known-vulnerabilities.html#firefox2.0.0.3
So you mean to tell me that an update was released to patch one "low impact" vulnerability?
Are they telling the truth? They had all kinds of beta testers for one minor thing? Are they hiding something critical so they look better? I'd hope more than just one minor vulnerability/bugfix gets patched in a new service release.
(By the way I love Firefox, so I'm not bashing it, just wondering) - hobnob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5ID 10 T error

Which is why the FF3 garbage collector will be so good, when it actually reclaims all the memory lost by plugins and extensions. - handsomeramin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I totally agree, that article barely gave info on changes. It said like 2 or 3, but it wasn't specific enough.

- DeFex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Works for me, must be some form of PEBKAC
- KiroLOL, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Mine didn't update automatically. However, I clicked on the "Check for updates" and it installed.

I have Vista and I have had no problems with FF crashing.
But then again everybody blamed MS for multiple BSoD back when AOL 5.0 came out and the true culprit was AOL. Almost all of the problems I have ever had with any Windows machine has had to due with 3rd party software. - Grimboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Solution: Fuss the plugin and extension makers to start benchmarking their plugins and extensions for memory leaks.
- clickwir, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Sounds like you need to learn how to configure a basic application. You can set what program you want to handle what file types. Don't blame Quicktimes communist take over of your FireFox file types on anything other than Quicktime.

seems like I read in the release notes that if you were having problems with WMP it might have something to do with the plug-in. Mozilla has links to the dlls necessary to download and put in the appropriate folder for WMP.
When you upgrade, click the release notes and scroll down a bit to find the appropriate section. That might solve your integration issue. - chuck2006, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think he's referring to the problem in Vista where the Firefox WMP11 plugin won't load in the browser. You need to manually install the WMP11 plugin dll's for it to work.

There are directions on where to download the files from and where they go on that page. - coditza, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Simple, to allow enough space for versions.
Imagine, you wouldn't use 3 decimals, but just two. and you have 2 versions: 1.21 and 1.2.1 (suppose this is an internal build). And a client calls in the tech support and says: "hi, I have a problem with version one two one". Now, witch version is that? 1.21 or 1.2.1 ?
On a side note, these versions use only 0-9 for each "place", so you won't ever get version 1.2.3.45 (or 1.23.4.5). This is way easier on both the customer and on support department. - johnthedebs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2According to this version's What's New page, it also "Fixed various web compatibility regressions."
- Hamsterpotpies, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Not officially announced? FF bugged me till I updated it.
- kahrn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Does such a small insignificant release need to make front page? I use Firefox myself, but I don't see why it needs to reach front page for such a minor release.
- chadkazulu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Firefox is far more widely supported than Safari, supports a huge number of fantastic add-ons, and, when run with grApple and UNO, looks like any other Mac App. Did I mention Firefox runs on my PC and my Linux machines?
In terms of speed, Safari IS faster... and Opera is faster still... but what you give up for that slight advantage, keeps Firefox my primary browser on all my OSes. - antdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://update.torrify.com/distro/torpark/Torpark_2.0.0.3a.exe is also out. A = alpha?
- sofimi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I checked the Help menu and found that it was already updating to 2.0.0.3 on its own.
- Caliente, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@truck87bp ^^^Penguin FUD alert^^^
- nethenm, on 04/01/2008, -0/+2Now walk it out..
- coditza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@tsunamisteve: ofcourse, but we must get the front page somehow, right? :p
- joser916, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i use opera sometimes fox i love them both and f**k IE
but if theres something bad about opera that can harm my pc please let me know!! - tsunamisteve, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I understand the need for all the decimal places, but seriously, people bitch about OS X point updates (10.4.9) making front page here, and this is a point point release. Everyone that uses Firefox knows when it's updated anyways because that's all they care about.
- nights0223, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Or maybe it wasn't announced over a day ago when this was posted.
- Cherubim, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I haven't noticed any slowdowns in page rendering with FF after installing the latest XP updates. Sounds like a problem on your end (malware ?) or you're just spreading misinformation.
- FastZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ubuntu makes their own version of Firefox..(somewhat). They add a bunch of ***** to it and then they take away the Check For Updates option so you cant upgrade to the newest version of the damn browser until they add their crap on there.
- ahughes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have been litmus testing this version for a while now and I can honestly say it is a very stable build.
- WhoDey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The most major "web compatibility" regression they are referring to was probably bug #371576. Basically, some sort of change released in the 2.0.0.2 patch caused newly added DOM script elements to not always be executed synchronously. So, you could have some Javascript that created a new script element defining a function, appended it to the DOM, then attempted to execute the function, but found that it was undefined - a valid and oft-seen scenario when attempting to display content received through an asynchronous request. Obviously, this broke several AJAX libraries out there, suck as Backbase (as well as my software, I might add). So, some of us started getting support calls as soon as our users had installed 2.0.0.2 because things didn't work right.
- trunkster, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Hmm first time running all my extensions and bookmarks were missing. After the heart attack, I relaunch and everything was there. Sort of weird.
- fani, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Firefox rules on Windows ( XP at least ). Fast, mostly stable and most importantly superb add-ons.
Unfortunately, its a piece of ***** on Macs. Safari just feels natural on a Mac. - kylej608, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ff is a kickass program that keeps getting better keep it up guy=]
- Postoasted, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1To bandeapart, It could be the other way around. Meaning JRE 6 is having compatibility problems with FF. I had to uninstall JR6 and go back to JR5.11 because it was causing my BT client, Azureus, to not load. After going back to JR5.11 everything is fine.
- bitlater, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2so did mine, not so exclusive I guess...
- PicklePower, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yeah, it doesn't seem like much changed at the security end. It looks like a lot of improvements may have been related to Vista issues, which makes sense.
- MikeCerm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I was running the 2.0.0.3 beta on Vista yesterday, and it crashed several times. It was actually the first time that I've ever have problems with FF in Vista. I'm sure it was just a fluke, but I guess we'll see, because 2.0.0.3 is now being pushed out by auto-update.
- blizzok, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Firefox actually runs faster on macs than safari, in terms of program speed and page rendering.
i forgot where i read that though, so whatever. -
