- grimfandango, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10title makes it sound like it's for human faces, it's not.
- Kii666, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Dugg just for the fact that someone used the word "doppelganger" in a sentence.
- tek1024, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I really, really appreciate the fact that someone spelled doppelgänger with an umlaut.
- vuzman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Doppelgangers? Let's see: Men, women, blond, dark-haired, bald, some kids, and a cat.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure those aren't doppelgangers. - Wolfboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Told it to find a match for one of the faces and it came back with a picture of a lighthouse. It's a nice lighthouse, but it looks nothing like the girl in the picture.
- weijie90, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8it might not be for human faces, but this is just neat.
- 7of7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Alright, someone who has completed several upper level EECS courses needs to get on how to actually use this to find a deppelganger because I want to find my doppelganger damn it.
- alfiegg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Can't do human faces? Check these out:

Not sure how the colour/texture thing works, although it rarely produces results I'm looking for, since, although similar in colour, they usually have nothing to do with the thing I'm looking at. Still, very nice tool.
@tweag: Its essentially just another way of searching flickr (www.flickr.com). If you want to upload an image, create a flickr account and uppload something there. Tag it, and use that tag to find similar things. - CheesyPeteza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It would be amazing if it actually worked. It seems to give crappy results like you'd expect as this is a very difficult thing to do. It gets the brightness of the images closely matched but thats about it. No breakthrough here.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I wonder what comes up for goatse.
Seriously: This is not what the description says it is, and as fas as I can tell not even useful in any redeemable way. This is just lame. - DoctorLag, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"Under the hood
Our CBIR (content based image retrieval) system uses advanced proprietary Subject, Color & Texture recognition algorithms to analyze image composition. It can process the relationship between several million images on a single medium specification machine in one day."
That makes me think this is for real Of course, could be a lie/hoax though. But this is uber way awesome if it's real! This is the kind of search i'b been waiting for. - Kingmichael, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Even though it wasn't used correctly.
Doppelganger - A ghostly double of a living person, especially one that haunts its fleshly counterpart. - D4RKfantasy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This may be a great day for internet porn.

Find Duplicate Photos- Visual Similarity Duplicate Image Finder
Visual Similarity Duplicate Image Finder will find all similar and duplicate images in a folder and its sub folders.
It uses advanced algorithms in order to find similar images in a way that a human does.
Due to that fact it can find similar images even if they are in different image formats and sizes. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1must be the same algorithm they used on that one porn site on digg a while back :D
- defectDS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is absolutely amazing! *waits for inevitable google/msn/yahoo version*
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Awesome. I know I have a Mexican clone. I'll try and find more.
- kabewm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1heh, I'll believe it when it pulls up a page with John Madden, John C. Dvorak and Rush Limbauh.
- hunto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Save it for Queen Dopplepopolis!
- mzhao, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nifty. I think it's a great idea and one that should be expanded and improved upon.
- h4lofourt33n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I must say, the title of this was very misleading, tisk tisk. I was hoping to find me part 2, and we could have ice cream and ride the carousel. *tear*
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i already met my doppelganger in 1997 and I beat that bitch down...
- breckinloggins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Give me a tag, Vasilly. One tag only please."
- vuzman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1No different from IE, AFAICT.
- joshduck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This site is quite pointless. It seems to match both colours and texture, which isn't really all that useful unless you are trying to find pictures from a series. The whole point to Flickr was that human based tagging was more effective than algorithms, so this is like taking a step backwards.
There is a service called Riya (riya.com) that promises to be able to do this for real. It's not in beta yet though. A site called myheritage.com also claims to do it, but the results are a bit dubious. They also only match you to a pool of about 3,000 celebrities. - rhemares, on 03/26/2009, -0/+0Found a Niche search engines that gives you top tips on your searches. - detrate, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1it's finally becoming a reality...
- YakkSoho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Don't see any algorhythmic relationship between the images. Especially notice the 'face' searches, it's really just a damn google keyword search. Also since the image database is limited its lack of functionality leaves it, well, useless.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Until I can find my doppelganger - no digg. Sorry teamtiltomo!
- thewise1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0my first thought was to search for boobies. Sadly I couldn't figure out how.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1untill you can upload a photo and then see similiar photos...... it looks like shenanagens... i mean common... u could easily build a keyword matching system, then find similiar color pixels in an area. but a raw image, and finding a similiar raw image... now thats skill..
- timmetro69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Addicting. Very addicting
- teamtiltomo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0At the moment you can't upload an image "to find similar". We do have that function working on our local test machine. Soon we will add it to the site.
- teamtiltomo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0QUOTE "Told it to find a match for one of the faces and it came back with a picture of a lighthouse. It's a nice lighthouse, but it looks nothing like the girl in the picture."
Response from The Tiltomo Team....."It seems like you used the wrong search mode, we have two (the 2 links under each image). You probably used mode 2. Color / Texture. This uses 100% Color / Texture to match similar images. If a lighthouse has a similar Color / Texture to a face it will match. Try the same search again using the 1st link under the the image called "Theme". This will ensure mainly faces will be shown.
Please remember this code is fresh out of the oven so you may see a few strange images in your results." - techtiltomo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0QUOTE: "This site is quite pointless. It seems to match both colours and texture, which isn't really all that useful unless you are trying to find pictures from a series...."
The point is.... Tiltomo visually matches images of a particular theme. You simply search for a tag, see something you like, then click "1. find similar images by theme". It then shows images that are similar in theme and visual makeup. This is very useful if you are trying to find a particular type of image within a large database. Try searching on Google images for "apple" and see what a mixed bag of results you get. Wouldn't be useful if you could click the "type of apple" you are looking to show thousands more. - teamtiltomo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You are probably using the wrong search mode :). You have 2 links under each image. Try using the 1st link "1. Find Similar by THEME". This mode will keep the search results in context.
- jakethecake, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1In swedish it's called "dubbelgångare" or "gengångare" not "doppelgånger", we borrowed a great deal of our words from German and made them our own.
dubbel = double
gångare = walker
gengångare = ghost/spectre
But it's close - jakethecake, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1,%uFFFD= an A with a ring over it
scandinavian lettering is broken in the edit box - teamtiltomo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You are right, this is pretty lame "One tag only please". It was a time issue. Soon we will add multiple tag searches. Along with the ability to use multiple reference images for finding similar.
- teamtiltomo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Please remember we are at BETA. There is much to follow!!
- techtiltomo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Some comments have been made about http://www.tiltomo.com 's usage benefits. It has been pointed out that flickr can be used to find similar images via tagging. We wanted to point out that Tiltomo goes beyond just tagging. It uses color / texture and context. The problem with the relying solely on tags, is that a tag can mean many things to many people. For example try searching flickr for "sun" http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/sun/ . You will see that the tag "sun" yields a real mixture of results. If you were specifically looking for the great ball of fire in the sky it can prove difficult.
If you tag search tiltomo you will see a similar mixture of results. If you then, you click the "1. find similar by THEME" link under a traditional image of a sun, you will see more like that... Something like:
http://www.tiltomo.com/index.php?image=39852&f=sun&fbase=d&mode=theme
With the above example I just searched for SUN and then clicked the "Find similar by THEME" link under a "sun". - allancass, on 07/12/2008, -1/+0Find and delete similar and duplicate images and pictures
