- 760 diggs
- digg it
- kylebrothert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6This is a great idea. Not always accurate (snopes.com similar to imdb.com?).
But still fun.- JWood, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Yeah, it's pretty cool. Could use some work on accuracy.
- headswine, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3The entire search engine thing is do for a make-over. Perhaps this is a good sign of thinsg to come.
http://www.gfx.com
- unitedstatians, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4this is awesome. don't forget to add the .com (dot-com) domain
- sho222, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3In my quick tests it is surprisingly accurate. Nice work.
- thomashawk, on 10/12/2007, -14/+7Ah, looks like Slashdot actually beat digg to press on this one.
http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/03/08/1817229 - jon_k, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20I hope you guys like the website. I'm adding new features as fast as I can. I plan to do a lot of great things with it in the future.
Thanks.- trickmcsneak, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Sorry - I accidently clicked the wrong 'thumb' button and can't now undo it. I meant to give you a thumbs up!
- socket, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Looks neat!
- teh_toaster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It definitely works, but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to use it for since I already knew about all the sites that came up in my search results.
- thedove, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4looks lovely, bookmarked :) i'll show my buddies, too
- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3nifty site digg+
- cr3ative, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13Sites similar to "gay.com"
1. cnn.com [2]
I love this site! - boxgamex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It needs to have some kind of confirmation when there are no matches or the url is entered in incorrectly. Right now it looks like it just didn't load
- warfang, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3very useful!
- Bassguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is a very interesting idea. I wonder what he'll develop for it next.
- bigelf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4This is similar to Alexa's "People who visit this page also visit:" section
http://www.alexa.com/data/details/?url=digg.com - cef19, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2this is what I am trying to do with delicious all the time. Phatness
- ToadX, on 10/12/2007, -7/+7Pretty stupid and inaccurate. If you didn't know, google has this feature.
In google, search for the website you want to find similar sites to, e.g. "aol.com" and press search. Then click the "similar to" link. You get much better results than this thing.- teh_toaster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I guess its just one more option to have. And this engine is specifically for del.icio.us tags.
For others though, doing a google search for "similar:digg.com" will work.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=related:digg.com - nealibob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You're right. This doesn't seem like it has anything to do with similar sites, just connections that are created by people's browsing habits.
- teh_toaster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I guess its just one more option to have. And this engine is specifically for del.icio.us tags.
- GuineaPig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I bet this is going to be good. It has the Web 2.0 "o.us" domain name suffix!
- diggmeplease, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1How in the world in Google like Digg? wtf? no digg reported inaccurate.
- Parikshit, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2not accurate results - on www.google.com it did not list any other search engine.
- shil01, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Good idea...kind of bland design...
I whipped up something more pleasing to the eye....please feel free to copy it.
http://www.diggoo.com/simi - its functional too - elroy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3stop with the redarded domain nam.es
it was mildly amusing on IRC, but these are awful domains for websites. - DutchStoner, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1the worst "web 2.0" wannabe i saw so far
- genetic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5heh it had no suggestions for similicio.us
- kracker, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2*bad comment edit*
nothing to see here move along ...
//kracker - Haplo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Always nice to know that my site, http://johnbokma.com/ is similar to linux.com, microsoft.com, hackaday.com, arstechnica.com, etc.
- reena, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3While one recommentation was an exact match, it was interesting to see what the near (and not-so-near) matches had to offer.
- joshduck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2First impressions weren't good, but I found it supprisingly useful. The name is not very accurate though. It's better at suggesting new sites someone might like, rather than sites that are similar. You really need to update the look too.
To achieve the results you want could you analyze shared tags as well as shared taggers? - JohnyD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Just another copy off of the StumbleUpon extension for FF.... I'm sticking to my stumbles.
- Tweek888, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I wonder if it works for pornography?
- unitedstatians, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4already tried it works http://www.magicteapot.com http://www.askjolene.com
- ub3rgeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ok, nifty idea but needs work on application, these are not at all acruate but keep up the good work
- jtarchie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I am working on something similar for my masters project in CE. Yet, actually doing the algorithm development and not passing it on to easyutil, which just seems to be a simple association rule mining interface. This has inspired me though and I want to see if I can make something like this site, but it takes into account the sites the user has visited, so the recommendation can of sites can be more specific. You'll see... it will be front page digg someday.
- texpundit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Wow. I punched in a URL and got NOTHING back. Literally. Nothing. Just the front page again.
Looks like they need a little more work...and a design consultant.- unitedstatians, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this is awesome. don't forget to add the .com (dot-com) domain when searching
- JWood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'd get something like that, too.
- rxvt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1And.... find similar images using http://our.imgseek.net/
It's basically a digg clone for images. - 1ivewire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think I'll stick with social bookmarking or even StumbleUpon (which I don't really use) for telling me which sites are similar to another. Even Google's "Similar Pages" feature is a better option at this point.
- serra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Am I the only geek that thought this had something to do with The Sims, on first glance?
- Jugalator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It looks accurate and intelligent enough to be on par with something coming from Google Labs.
Searching on slashdot.org gave other geeky news sites, w3.org gave plenty of web development sites, and so on. The accuracy could maybe be improved, but it's not always so easy when searching for ambiguous sites. For example, those related to wikipedia.org can very well be google.com and even imdb.com because these are information searches as well. I.e. it can be hard to relate it to other online encyclopedias alone.
Good job! - osbjmg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1mashup is a word that makes you sound mentally deficient. Please don't use that word if you want to sound like anyone other than Baby Huey!
- klenje, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1seems pretty accurate also for languages different than English
- danimal247, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1del.icio.us already does this
http://del.icio.us/help/morebuttons - trickmcsneak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Really good idea!
- sand13w, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0useful
- humayun, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Also try http://similarsites.net It contains User Added similar websites, also have some nice features like gives short description of websites and web page image previews.
