- dFaktor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6what do you mean finally. it's been around for a long time. just like deepburner, my personal fave. http://www.deepburner.com/
- intangible, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I've been using this a long time, it's okay, but the interface could use a lot of work, burning ISOs comes to mind. Try micro20 also, http://www.silentnight2004.com/Download.html ; micro20.exe is a single executable CD Burning program that works quite well.
- westfall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2>"since when does nero have spyware?"

And how is that spyware??? - blowdart, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"Unneeded, unsolicited content that comes with it that has no relevance to its primary function."
So that's pretty much every install of a commercial package these days, and a shed load of free stuff too.
When did we start redefining spyware just to be something unwanted? - microsafe17, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I prefer DeepBurner.
- muldoonaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i use burnatonce. its simple and it does the job. none of the fluff of Nero or any of the other freebies.
- underoath_777, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Grrr, I hate this program, on all of my machines, whenever I try to burn an audio CD, it dosen't work, and it crashes on one of my machines more often than not.
No digg. - lbermude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have been using it for a while and its OK. (not great, but it does the work).
I have not been able to remove the 2 sec pause between songs in a music cd and it did not let me use DAO.
Also it always seems to take a long time initialize as soon as you start the program. Also just before burning it just sits there for a while. - borderpatrol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"since when does nero have spyware?"
Since NERO 7. Comes with Yahoo Toolbar. Can be disabled at setup. - coldcoffee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1K3B (yes, a Linux application) is everything Nero used to be. Another reason to give the Penguin a shot!
- borderpatrol, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2">"since when does Nero have spy ware?"
>Since NERO 7. Comes with Yahoo Toolbar. Can be disabled at setup.
And how is that spy ware???"
Unneeded, unsolicited content that comes with it that has no relevance to its primary function. - wezzul, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@bloaded:
I use alot of the functionality that Nero has including the media check for DVDs (burning PS2 games), burning of multiple types of images, multiple formats of discs, etc. Just because you don't need it doesn't mean most people don't. And it's not like Nero is slow and bloated, it runs fine on even a marginally decent machine. The "reason they release that garbage" is so that the program is more fully-featured and better. If the program is better, and has more functionality, it will sell better. It's really not a good idea if you are in the business of making money to make a product that is inferior to previous versions (2k-XP not withstanding).
WEZ - srid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thumbs up for "burnatonce". It is simple and easy to use. It uses "cdrecord" in the backend. Worth the try - http://www.burnatonce.com/
- ThaDaveMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0since when does nero have spyware?
- MasterDwarf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0unable to access site. digg effect...
- FriedGeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0dFaktor is right. I run DeepBurner off my keychain, it does everything I need to do, for PC burning that is.
- guhappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I tried this program but it crashes under a limited Windows account with administrative rights enabled. I suggest Express Burn Freeware Edition because of its simple interface and just a great little program. http://www.nch.com.au/burn/
- joehobbes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I won't be switching from Nero until more cd image types are supported. Nero is still worth it.
- dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not sure about "Finaly", but it's a good program..
- Ben - fordboy0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Keep in mind that the maximum amount of data recordable on DVD-5 is 4.38 REAL gig of data. Has to do with the calculations. Started back with the 40M drives that were really only 39MB. It's the whole 1024 vs. 1000 being a megabyte thingy.
- barbobot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0whats wrong with cdrecord?
- gotamd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This has been around for a while, but it is great software nonetheless. Good digg :)
- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0kaka: Yes, XP contains built in burning capabilities, but just like the capabilities built into OSX, it's very limited. You can't make special types of discs and such. If you need anything more complex than an "Audio CD" or a "Data CD", then you need other software to do it. If you want to make a Blue Book CD (an "Enhanced CD"), for example, neither XP nor OSX's built in software can do that.
- siguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hm, looks like it has lots of nice features. Reminds me of nero in a few ways.
- mcletter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Pretty nice, I think I'm going to start using this over Nero. I've had some problems with nero lately.
- QuantumRiff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I believe I tried this program a few months ago, and ran into a problem where it would not burn more than 4.1 GB. Makes it hard to fill my 4.7GB DVD's.. Does this still have that problem?
- jgstew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Its nice to have, better than what comes with many Burners or computers, but its hard to beat nero. I have had a problem or 2 with my laptop burning with CD Burn XP, but not my desktop. May be b/c of the drive or something. Its also good to point out that nero 6 is does not support xp w/o downloading updates, and it has caused some coasters and crashes from that as well.
- digiital, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.cdburnerxp.se.nyud.net:8090/ CORALIZE BOYS CORALIZE it
- Xuster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I been using it for a year now and it's great. only thing missing is that it doesn't do CD copying. but besides that works great every time. definite digg.
- markperia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0tried it before but I didnt like it much.
- BluParadox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This has been featured on digg before, and it's been around for a while besides.
Problem?
> Old News - .mark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anybody know if there's a similar, and free, tool for Mac OS X?
- Sirocco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Seconded (first comment). Deepburner kicks *much* ass.

Who said I use Windows and who defines elegant?
If I'm cranky, it's from all you jeffK wannabe losers who don't think before they post, assume too much or too little or don't know how to spell. - nomadg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great program ...not news? no digg
- ebob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0All that CDBurnerXP Pro ever did for me was make shiny coasters. I just upgraded to Nero 7 two weeks ago. Although it contains a number of features that I will likely never use, it is nice to have them around just in case. The built-in burning functions of Windows XP is not able to burn DVD's or burn an ISO image to disk.
- edmicman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1How is deepburner better? I haven't used it, but looking at the site it looks like only a crippled version is free. If I'm gonna pay for a cd burning program, I'm gonna go for the best, which IMHO has always been Nero.
- Jarrod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love CDBurnerXP Pro. Give it a shot if you haven't already.
- bickster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Download Peer Impact. It willl let you burn audio CDs for free. www.peerimpact.com
- westfall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Unneeded, unsolicited content that comes with it that has no relevance to its primary function.
That's not spyware. At the most, it's adware, but not spyware. Regardless, it's optional to install it. - wezzul, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0the "fluff" of nero is what makes it a good program. Very full featured. Simple programs for simple folks, I always say.
WEZ - thewhitefedora, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1CDBurner XP Pro is very worthless. I've donwloaded it many times and had to much trouble with it. The burn from ISO feature is a pain to get to. It's riddled with bugs. Best advice: Get nero and find a key on the internet.
By the way, I'm currently testing CDDA Ripper XP
http://cddarip.sourceforge.net - algorythm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I prefer another free client called Nero 7. It can be purchased at a local bit torrent shop near you.
- alterself, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0i will give it a try
..o wait...no i wont
"SELECT version FROM versions WHERE status="public, downloadable" ORDER BY version DESC LIMIT 1 - No Database Selected"
DEAD SITE - zetsueii, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I'll have to try it out :)
- pixelbend, on 10/16/2007, -1/+0anti-hax0r:
I see your use of Windows had made you both smart...and cranky.
In my opinion, any burning software built into the OS should be limited to the OS's function. That is file management. In that light OS X's burning app is expertly designed. Insert a blank, fill it up and eject it.
Simple and elegant. If you need something mroe than that, buy Toast. - bloaded, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0noone needs half the fluff in nero. What most people need is a simple burning program with some encoding options support for multiple formats and maybe a virtual disk image program. The only reason they release all this garbage is so people upgrade. You sir are a moron.
- GatorVIP, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Never heard of it before, I'll give it a try
- anti_hax0r, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0kaka
"does Windows not have a cd-burning feature at the OS level?? Tiger does - i don't understand windows sometimes.."
Sure you can burn CDs in the OS, but like Apple, it is very limited. Just like your knowledge of computers.
You should also put three periods like so ... they are ellipses not just periods...but again, it just shows your intelligence level. - tastypastry, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I'm gonna give it a try.
