Instead of trying to hoard information about their users, the Internet giants have all announced plans to share at least some of that data so people do not have to enter the same identifying information again and again on different sites."]
Facebook's decision to utilize this data sharing technology is a smart move for their long term sustainability, however, there is concern over the privacy issues that often accompany the process of sharing the identity of your users. opt in/ opt out methods only work if the user is well informed of their existence and all the complexities involved. as Facebook users become more aware of their surroundings and their potential exploitation - they make feel the need to take action and government regulation could follow.
to avoid pissing off your users Its best to keep their interests near and dear to heart during stages of development. the route facebook is going, which takes on educating their users about privacy issues, is quite commendable and will benefit them in building a solid, trustworthy network in which marketers / advertisers can invest some serious dough.
