- kamel, on 02/07/2008, -5/+13These are the spammiest comments I have ever seen.
"I love this messenger it PWNSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!" - Is this a 45 year old chick trying to be cool? - Ch1x0rofDeath, on 02/07/2008, -0/+5apparently only negative comments will get you modded up on digg these days. if people were actually getting paid, i'd think there'd be a lot more than ten "spam" comments.
- shaps776, on 02/07/2008, -3/+7Actually, we sent a message to the facebook group "I love digsby" letting everyone know that our first ever product review is on digg. If they went through the trouble of making a Digg account just so they can vote then I admire that - You should too... (Steve, Founder, Digsby)
- oiooioio, on 02/07/2008, -2/+5its pretty cool, I was worried too but if you use IM, Email & Social Networking sites then it could be helpful ...
- arudgick, on 02/07/2008, -0/+3maybe some of you should actually check out the site, not to mention the app. hell, i didn't even realize that people were still developing instant messaging-esque apps until i saw this one show up in my feed reader. so on a whim i installed the sucker and guess what... it does a lot of stuff better than the competition. for starters it's hella pretty and quite customizable without having to tinker with crap a la miranda. it also has an excellent chat history browser.
im not going to go on and on, they've got a website... check it. maybe people are evangelizing because it actually is good unlike most garbage ware that gets pimped on this site by the rest of you bickering prepubescents! - wedgelite, on 02/08/2008, -0/+3awesome program, even if it's in the beta stages, everything's so much better than AIM, pidgin and all others
- oiooioio, on 02/08/2008, -0/+3Blisk if you look they've been developing this for 2 years now. It is in its testing state (def not a final release) so they are obviously waiting and wanting feedback so that they can fix the problems they didn't expect and or missed.
- coheedcollapse, on 02/07/2008, -0/+3It seems like a decent program so far, but I would have been much more eager to try it if the first 10 or so comments on the story didn't sound like blatant spam.
- shaps776, on 02/26/2008, -0/+2WOW - I guess being negative on Digg is the way to go these days. Let me clear up some of the misconceptions.
1) We are not based on pidgin in any way. Every protocol is implemented from scratch and the entire application is written in Python. It doesn't violate or use GPL libraries in any way.
2) We absolutely use Adium themes. We read the there is a push within the Adium community to make their "Message Styles" into a standard which all IM clients would use. We thought it was a great idea and wanted to further the effort! Our IM window is webkit based so we can make it compatible with Adium message styles. We contacted the author of every message style we include in the installer to get their permission to use it. They all gladly agreed so accusing us of stealing them isn't accurate. - shaps776, on 02/07/2008, -2/+4Actually, we sent a message to the facebook group I
- Godlesswanderer, on 02/08/2008, -0/+2Seems I did need the sarcasm tag...
- Dyavol, on 02/07/2008, -2/+4I comented on this software because I enjoyed it, is there something wrong about comenting on stuff you like?
- blisk, on 02/08/2008, -0/+2I think its a GREAT program however here are my major concerns with it:
1. It seems to be based on pidgin but is HEAVILY modified.. not modified enough it seems to cover up some essential similarities. IF it really is then this is a violation of the GPL.
2. Memory usage is very high. There’s definitely some memory leaks in here that have been missed and/or they haven’t even begun to think about how to design the program to be feature rich but have a small footprint.
3. What are they using to allow you to login to facebook and parse HTML for facebook and gmail? Did they just create their own browser or what? IE rendering engine? If so how could they come up with a linux and mac version so quickly? They either created some sort of basic browser and put it in there or they’re again using someone else’s code which is probably open source. I also suspect that this is where alot of the memory leaks/usage comes from. - shaps776, on 02/26/2008, -0/+2As for memory usage, we decided to release before optimizing because we wanted to get user feedback as quickly as possible. The current RAM usage is unacceptable by our standards and will come down significantly over the coming weeks.
- webster, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1Are you kidding me? They have themes that look identical to Adium and have obviously stolen from Adium and Pidgin, which are both open source projects. And then Digsby goes and releases in "private beta?" Come on. Typical Windows. GPL that *****.
- McoreD, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1I liked Digsby as well and the felt the same thing like you about the Pidgin issue. I asked the developers. I didn't know it was a violation of GPL by the way. How can it be a violation of GPL - because this needs to Open Source as well, need not?
- kpmoore, on 02/07/2008, -4/+4I've been using Digsby for one week and I've already lost 10 pounds and gained 3 inches around my *****! Awesome!
How stupid do you think we are? Looks like a decent program but now I obviously don't trust it. - 10001110101, on 02/07/2008, -3/+3You forgot to mention the increase in pen1s size. No cheque for you!
- naden, on 02/07/2008, -5/+5I love this program. It helps me get laid and makes me more attractive to the opposite sex. I also feel happy and more fulfilled using it.
Now submitter where can I get my cheque like these other xenu-loving douchebags. - Drehmini, on 02/07/2008, -4/+4Seems like they were all paid to post that *****...
- econoar, on 02/07/2008, -4/+4I'm not going to try it now just because of the first 8 or so comments.
- stalefries, on 02/07/2008, -2/+1It makes me feel more like a woman
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Ube ... - stalefries, on 02/07/2008, -2/+1Buried as spam per kamel/Drehmini's comments.
- kamel, on 02/08/2008, -3/+1How much were you paid?
- Godlesswanderer, on 02/07/2008, -8/+4I've never used this app and had never even heard of it until just now, but I'm going to digg it anyway because I've probably been paid!
- superjunaid, on 02/07/2008, -11/+6Woohoo I'm so excited about this program! Just waiting on the MAC version, in the meantime I've got it running on my Windows XP Parallels.
