- lukas88, on 10/29/2009, -0/+4It is very unclear, but it seems that digg users will now be provided with an additional rating option (perhaps one for each load of the digg homepage) in which their digg up or digg down will influence how long the story will stay on front the front page. That is how I interpreted it.
This would presumably be an alternative to the current system of stories appearing in the same order in which they passed the threshold. The end result would be a much higher amount of diggs for popular stories and a lower amount of diggs for less popular stories (i.e., widening the gap). However, it would keep more popular on the front page longer, which could increase traffic. I have a feeling it will not replace the current system so much as be available in addition to the current system.
