- inactive, on 11/20/2008, -0/+47So...it's multiplayer Wordpad?
- SirChasm, on 11/20/2008, -3/+27I think it's a cool app, definitely worthy of a digg.
I poo poo on the commenters above me. - bobboberton, on 11/20/2008, -1/+17Ex-Googlers? They don't use Google anymore?
What a sad existence that would be... - spamftw, on 11/20/2008, -1/+13join in -> http://etherpad.com/YvDKafj0WF
- tawnos, on 11/20/2008, -1/+12Did they get fired or did they leave Google?
- spect3r, on 11/20/2008, -1/+12But can it run .... spellcheck
- gweedo767, on 11/20/2008, -1/+11Not even Wordpad. There is almost no formatting options. It just has JavaScript syntax highlighting.
- TheSabre, on 11/20/2008, -1/+10It only has a few reflections and rounded corners. Obviously, it is ugly because it is still simple and tasteful.
- TheKitchenSinkX, on 11/20/2008, -1/+10This is the new multiplayer Notepad. Move over, IRC.
- strangewill, on 11/20/2008, -1/+9"Sorry, only 8 people are allowed to edit a single pad at the same time. In the future, we could work to increase this limit."
Fail. - PxCxG, on 11/20/2008, -0/+7Um... google docs has spreadsheets and presentations, so I don't think this is quite showing "google docs how it's done"
- spunkinator, on 11/20/2008, -0/+5Who doesn't have a Google account this day and age? No levels of permission for read/write/share, etc.
Meh. - mizatt, on 11/20/2008, -0/+5^ Look at this poor guy who didn't understand the post
- Theli, on 11/21/2008, -0/+5Closer to multiplayer notepad.
- mizatt, on 11/20/2008, -5/+9I don't get what's so ugly about it
- bitweever, on 11/20/2008, -0/+4My thoughts too. It seems just like Google Docs, only uglier and updates in real time, not every 15 seconds. *GASP*
- Fleagleman, on 11/21/2008, -0/+4Double kill.
- Gr00ver, on 11/20/2008, -2/+5I don't want anyone else editing my text.. especially in real time.
- RutgerB, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3I'm all alone:(
- ryleyleckie, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3Triple kill.
- ryleyleckie, on 11/20/2008, -1/+4Team Slayer?
- enantiodromia, on 11/20/2008, -1/+4just because it's not the most perfect product in the world doesn't mean its not the beginning of something cool.
at one time, yahoo! was just "david and jerry's bookmark list", google was just a "wannabe hotbot", and iPod's were just "a boring me-too offering from apple" - acroyear2, on 11/20/2008, -1/+3Last time I did collabo on GDocs, it offered the same features... so what's the big deal?
- AReallyGoodName, on 11/20/2008, -1/+3Integrate a compiler for various languanges into it and i can bet there will be a lot of open source apps using it.
- Cglass, on 11/21/2008, -0/+2By the looks of it, they got fired.
- univerio, on 11/21/2008, -1/+3Nah, you're thinking of IRC.
- hudey123, on 11/20/2008, -1/+2Um ... shows Google how it's done? This looks like a less-refined clone to me. Doesn't look any better.
- HardJeans, on 11/20/2008, -1/+2FTFA:
"Eventually they’ll offer businesses premium features for a fee, like controlled access, private URLs, etc. They’ll even offer non-hosted version that companies can install on their own servers for higher security." - AReallyGoodName, on 11/20/2008, -1/+2OK one thing has become really clear since using that.
This needs to have options for permissions. - acroyear2, on 11/20/2008, -1/+2the blue gradient header circa Windows 3.1 with some Verdana font logo and additional serif text for those "Connected Users" and "Options" sub-categories = UGLY
- nOR1, on 11/20/2008, -1/+2p2p ascii pr0n anyone?
http://etherpad.com/v6s9iKow1A - smith, on 11/20/2008, -1/+2This is like an online version of Gobby, this is a great idea.
- Cglass, on 11/21/2008, -1/+2I just got fragged when I respawned. This game is *****.
- etank, on 11/20/2008, -1/+1This reminds me of gobby. http://gobby.0x539.de/trac/
- rdvon, on 11/20/2008, -1/+1The main flaw with Google docs is the formatting... This has no formatting at all. How is it better again?
- Sonixunite, on 11/20/2008, -1/+1I thought this was warranted.
But I really don't get why everyone wants to play Crysis so bad, it's not that great of a game. - adiyo011, on 11/20/2008, -1/+1TKing bastards.
- SystemError51, on 11/20/2008, -1/+1Sure, but it won't recognize "Crysis"
- Sonixunite, on 11/20/2008, -0/+0Now iPods are a quick and efficient way of identifying sheep.
- Sonixunite, on 11/20/2008, -0/+0Imagine someone who writes in random URL codes to stumble upon other people's work... simply to have their way with it :D
- contentws, on 11/22/2008, -0/+0Great stuff, wish they would let you do a few more things...they are the kings of search right? Why not let me put custom attributes on my docs and create a regular folder structure?
http://ContentWorkspace.com - RutgerB, on 11/21/2008, -1/+1No capture the flag either:S
- irisblaze, on 11/21/2008, -0/+0you gonna have to pay for that....
- nickrosencrans, on 11/22/2008, -0/+0It was called Hydra :-)
- acidblue, on 11/21/2008, -1/+1SubEthaEdit has been out for years for the Mac. I can't remember what it was called before it got that name. Check it out if your a Mac user.
http://www.codingmonkeys.de/subethaedit/ - 2of8, on 11/21/2008, -0/+0I want to see a calculation showing the probability of a random URL linking to a notepad. 10 characters, upper and lower case. (26*2)! = 8.06581752 × 10^67. Divide that by the approximate number of notepads existing.. eh, any way you look at it, it's a huge number and the probability of getting an existing notepad is tiny.
(Did i do this calculation right? :P ) -
