- midtown, on 10/17/2009, -0/+2This is interesting, but I think Canonical's efforts with Ubuntu Enterprise Cloud are smarter. Their idea is to to have a computer which manages all its nodes by suspending them when not in use and waking them up when needed, balancing virtual appliances across your private cloud. This way you can only have a server or two on at low/normal load, and resume the rest of your farm as necessary, loading the virtual appliances on them which are under load and could use help. Plus, the interface is EC2 compatible so if you get a load higher than your entire private cloud can handle, you can spin up some Amazon instances on-demand for a few bucks until the load is gone.
