- trpnblies7, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1That's why it says "Open source WINDOWS" and not "Open source computer." Not everyone wants to use Linux, but they still enjoy open source programs that are reliable and oftentimes better than closed source programs. I'll switch to Linux one day, but probably not until I reformat my computer again or get a new one. In the mean time, I use Windows and a large amount of open source programs so that when the day does arrive when I switch to Linux, it won't be a gigantic shift.

- hiroki40, on 10/10/2007, -4/+4the only way to have true open source windows is installing x11.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1And you're just a regular moron.
- cquinnd, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1You haven't checked in a while then?
- init100, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1That does not remove IE, it only removes the shortcut.
- bcecka, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3Open-Source Windows is an oxymoron.
- haxzen, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Agreed.
- froggiestone, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2How does running open source app. on a CLOSED system makes it a "true open source windows" wtf ?
Running 3rd party open source app. on windows, and claiming it to be a "open source system" makes you nothing more then wannabe imo..
if you want true open source, reroll linux! - nvidiafx, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1dugg effect
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3There are too many tight asses on the net. Constipate; go to the toilet once a week, it will save money on toilet paper and water, but in the long run your health suffers because waste toxins build up in your body. The same principle applies to software. Computers are an productivity appliance. You can use an inferior product and save money in the purchase, but it will cost you time in the long run. Open source is a good way for aspiring programmers to learn their craft. Open source is not a good way of running a productive environment. Use the right computer and tools to do your job is the prime directive. If you have to spend the money do it and get on with your job.
- HigherLogic, on 10/10/2007, -5/+4There's not many open source applications that I use (actually, can't think of any). I use Office 2007 because it's a good product and is a standard throughout the business world. I use Adobe and Macromedia, because, quite frankly, Gimp or whatever the hell else ain't cutting it. Even my browser of choice, Opera, is not open source. I tend to find that open source products are always very lacking. What's wrong with non-open source software anyways?
- dtd00d, on 10/10/2007, -6/+4Very no.
- Pacificblue, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1well the page is not loading :(
- returnofthemac, on 10/10/2007, -3/+0hey everyone check out the virus library!
"pc nerds would like to pretend there is such a thing as good pc software and bury your comment: cancel or allow?" - HigherLogic, on 10/10/2007, -5/+2Don't you kind of need IE installed for updating your computer?
