- darkzealot89, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28Why are so many major web-serves ill-equipped to handle massive spikes? I look to a utopia where all web servers can survive the dreaded digg effect.
- max420, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24Not really cause its a freeware program.

It gave me that error when the story only had 20 diggs. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21@ foobar
wait... windows fanboys posting on a story about a windows app!!!
surely that can not be? - Ramtech, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19It doesn't work on Vista....
- V1be, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16I'm getting the same failed message. It's because the servers that it's communicating with are down, from digg.

Helping us to help you
Your process list is scanned by Process Library online and checked against all known processes. An alert is raised to the Process Library team for any variants or unknown processes not covered by the Library. They are logged, analyzed and the new information is added to the Library.
* Our proprietary RePLACE technology matches your data list with all existing Process Library entries, constantly updating the Library database with new process entries.
* Using our internal checking system The Uniblue Research Labs dedicated team of IT specialists edits the existing Library data.
Because everything happens online it means our users are helping us to update and improve the Process Library on a daily basis!
Process Scanner saves you time, alerts you to the presence on your PC of any virus or malware processes and helps you deal with any problems instantly.
So every time you use the FREE Process Scanner, you are helping us make the Process Library even better, for you and for millions of other PC users!
LIBRARY TOOLS - aldocs, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15Hi mutatron,
My name's aldo from the ProcessLibrary team at Uniblue Labs. The during the creation of the process scanner we made sure that no personally identifiable information is extracted from your computer. All that is extracted is the process information which is shown on the results page.
Best Regards,
Aldo - DesireCampbell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Wow! I've been using Process Library for years, to check if a suspected process was valid or not. Basically I used Process Library because I'm too damn lazy to check the rest of the Internet for the answer. Process Library says 'yes' or 'no'. This new app will make me _even_lazier_.
I love it :D - kinadian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10"If process scanner connects to the internet and sends back data, it's spyware."
I disagree. If it connects to the Internet and sends back data without telling you what it's doing then it's spyware.
If the program and developers freely admit what they are doing (and that's all they are doing) then it isn't spyware. It's just the program doing what it's supposed to do.
If you are not comfortable with that then simply do not install the program. But I don't believe that this is spyware. - wbrooks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Ha ha ha...

Tard. - daviddarmanin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8hey guys... just realised this post made the front page... grreat! just contacted the guys at Uniblue Labs and they answered back saying that the reason for failed scans is that the servers are overloaded and that they are now handling 200 scans per minute. They also promised they will be adding another 200 within the coming few hours...
- All4not, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Post the source code and we'll trust you then.
- SamX, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Is there an open source alternative to this ? oh and btw this is pure SPAM
- aldocs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Hi i am from the ProcessLibrary team at Uniblue Rersearch Labs.
Could you kindly report the problem to technical@unibluesupport.com with some info on the problem please? We would value your support.
Thanks
Aldo - dgulbran, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9@ Phegan: Beacuse it's not useful information *on this thread*. The post was about *Windows* not *Linux*. Yeah, I use both (as do many) but a response to a post about monitoring Windows processes that essentially says, use Linux is not useful or productive. It's off topic and troll bait.
- ElliotShoe, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11They need to make this a standalone program. I'd use it to check for spyware and to decide which startup items to remove. Sometimes a computer is so owned , its network is totally whack.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+13http://www.duggmirror.com
- dougm68, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6It created a process for itself and has required me to end task on it to stop it.
Thanks for the tool? - h4ppydotcom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5And the diggs crashed the site!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Why are people digging down a text-mirror?
- dougm68, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5you're supposed to get them drunk?!
DAMN! - mutatron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4So, is it spyware?
- manchurian, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6But you do use Windows, don't you?
(or am I missing the sarcasm?) - Dakusan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I ran the sent data (which is obviously in some form of base 64) against a couple of dozen base 64 decode tables and was unable to find anything of use... I have very often used process library for looking up unfamiliar processes on other peoples computers, so I'm sure they SHOULD be trustworthy... but sending across over 500k for 46 running processes when a simple md5 could be taken of each (which it DOES appear to do in the first few packets...), seems kind of iffy....
- mca7, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6"Failed to send scan results to server"
That's all I keep getting. - Karmalary, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I use What Process! ( http://www.what-process.com/ ) to access a Windows process library.
- bobcrotch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Probably, and a lot of people probably also have the port blocked that it uses to look up processes on their server(s?).
I dunno I would rather not run an application that phones home about my processes and just use a simple google search. - gmikej, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3xf56n44 is my tin-foil hat hero. He believes that somehow the Microsoft people are the smartest around. They can create an app (process explorer 2.0) and hide the fact that it is a trojan from EVERYONE in the world! No one is smarter than Microsoft!!!!
That's what I don't understand about the people that believe in Roswell/Area 51, Moon landing faked, 9/11 was an inside job, etc. - They give way too much credit to people in a position of power. - dougm68, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5put down the doob max and read the previous 50 threads where some idiot said 'uhhh, i think digg brought it down maannn.'
~hippys suck. - fani, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4no ***** Sherlock..
- speaker219, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This is what firefox users get when the process scanner sends results to the server (i guess the program tells firefox to open the results in new tabs, and then firefox does a google search for the word) Real nice job setting that up :/
See what i mean below:
http://xs410.xs.to/xs410/06512/processcan.PNG - jerryparid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3GUI is overly simplified. Doesn't even scan for me. I'll stick with my Process Explorer 10.2.
Edit: Process scanner can't be removed from memory; had to use alternative methods. - mojo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Anyone try it yet?
- CaptShmo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4another "Failed to send scan results to server"

Sweet... welcome to an unannounced process level beta trojan on your system. - sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I used it. Seems pretty fast and harmless. Gave me some useful info on my processes.
- aldocs, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Hi Dakusan,

Aldo Cauchi Savona - kingfoot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2yes and it was sent successfully, however, it sends you to a page for results and THAT wont load, so im takin the f5 route for now, if it dont work soon its going to bookmarks!
- markdr123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, how *did* you manage that?
