- Junkyarddawg, on 11/07/2007, -0/+75Now all we need is an app which fixes the myriad of bugs in Diggs comment system.
Oh, and if you liked that, have a look at this: http://garycarstensen.googlepages.com/comments7.html - DarkTranquility, on 10/28/2007, -0/+27That website is seriously awesome. I don't even check my profile on digg anymore, this has officially replaced it. And it loads faster than the link provided by the submitter.
Still, we wouldn't need this if the comment system did not suck. - Junkyarddawg, on 10/10/2007, -0/+20Agreed on both points. The comment system right now is so broken it'd actually be better if they rolled back to the previous version.
- skoles, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18I'd like to see a "show my comments" link in Digg. With the new tree system it's more of a PITA now to find where I've commented and who's responded. Before I used to just search my name, but now I gotta expand all and then search and hope it wasn't in a buried comment.
Unless this is already a feature. I've checked the profiles section occasionally and never see something like that. - directsun, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15This is hotness in a box. Digg should put something like this in your profile
- Hortnon, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14Any way to tell how many total comments?
- steven401, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9When its loading it says:
"Loading User's Digg Comments: 19% (X of HOW MANY COMMENTS)" - Toshibi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9People digg you up or down based on if they agree with you or not. I may say something completely intelligent but Pro Capitalism and anyone who disagrees with Capitalism, no matter if it's a valid point or not, will automatically digg me down, as an example.
- omarciddo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Don't expect valid points to gain you many diggs. I've had some pretty asinine comments get dugg up like no tomorrow, but serious comments get buried to the depths of hell.
- psyjoniz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9digg's comment section is ***** horrible
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Digg comment stalker
http://diggcomments.headzoo.com/ - Neiby, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Amen, brother. Preach it! Seriously, the old comment system, while less functional, actually worked.
- TenebrousX, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7it still doesn't show buried comments
- jonrad, on 11/04/2007, -0/+6You could do Total/Average on any of the columns in the stats.
Or after you've loaded the page, if you put:
javascript:alert(digg.comments.length);
in the address bar, you'll get it to.
Still, should be put on the page somewhere - webcure, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Really cool tool. Now we have some feedback from our comments.
I digg it! - brundlefly76, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6With all respect to digg, I cannot remember an example when such a popular website broke the living ***** out of something that worked OK, got slammed by their users for it, and STILL has not rolled it back yet. I mean, what is their rationale for keeping this new system?
Something tells me its either internally political at digg, or the technical challenge of the production rollback is much more intimidating than hoping we will all 'just learn live with it'. - JoshuaH, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Downloadable version:
http://www.u.arizona.edu.nyud.net/~garyc/comments/comments7.exe - inactive, on 11/04/2007, -0/+4Yep. I have downloaded the executable version. Not exactly sure where I downloaded it from. One problem I have with it is that it only shows you 100 comments max.
- mace2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Can't get it to work... keep getting "Digg returned an error: Internal error."
Is it too busy or am I just unlucky? - lordtyros, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4With digg's comment's, Ctrl+F is unbearably slowwwwwwwww
- soulknowledge, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5You know... I look up the comment statistics on some of my favorite Diggers and even when they say something intelligent, I can't figure out the mystery of why certain comments get dugg down substantially
- thejokker, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5"digg returned an internal error" maybe too many people are using it now, ill try later.
- raitchison, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Looks interesting, though I think I'll stick with http://garycarstensen.googlepages.com/comments7.html
- Hortnon, on 11/04/2007, -0/+41308...That must be why it takes 10 minutes for the page to render...
- aywwts4, on 11/12/2007, -0/+4***** Capitalism! Dug Down.
- Hindu_Wardrobe, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Personally, I prefer http://diggcomments.headzoo.com
- Azimuth1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4What you should do is turn "Show all threads" on in your profile settings. Then you can always just Ctrl+F to find your comments.
- TTSkipper, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3It is interesting to look through and see that sometimes you are Dugg down even if you were posting a link to more information or a factual comment. Is there a way to see who has dug you down?
- Battleman, on 11/04/2007, -0/+3On the comments tab, just above your comment, it tells me: "Comments (43)".
- JarekB, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3http://www.u.arizona.edu.nyud.net/~garyc/comments/comments7.exe
Found in comments from when the site originally hit digg - hiPpymIck, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3as far as i know you should always Digg down if comment is
boring..
a repeat of another earlier..
flaming ..
too off topic..
ive been on Digg about 9mts and noticed that if ppl bury properly....
you end op with a shorter snappier thread for everyone who reads it after you
(...sorta like 'tough love') - samadam, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I would love an option to show or hide comments based on the average comment score for that person in the last month.
- fpcyber, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5Been using this since V1. I say it is a great app. It is great to see how each comment gets dugg up or down. This gets my digg!
- PamalaLauren, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2This is cool! I like being able to go back and read the replies to my posts because this new comment system doesn't make it easy to find my comments. Seriously enough I just went through and read some pretty hilarious responses.
- umbriago, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I get "internal error," too; on the other hand, that sums up about all of my posts.
- idc5, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2trend of comment ratings : short, witty responses which follows popular opinion = + digg
- schoate09, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2It would be cool if it could tell you who dugg you, and which way.
- akatherder, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I always like to boost my ego or see how stupid people think I am by looking at my comments like this. I used to be able to click on the "Commented On" link but I can't see any comments outside of the first 50 anymore.
- zzz@tkz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2It doesn't support my name, I presume because of my @ sign.
Fix, please. - MasterThief117, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I have been hooked on this when I first heard about it.
Now all we need is a new comment system. - dimplemonkey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2HEY Kevin Rose! Pay this guy to incorporate this page into digg.com. As a self acclaimed info junkie, this is the kind of crack rock that gets me higher than a kite!
DIGGERS, KEEP DIGGING THIS STORY! - mikewhite314, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2That's quite easy, just digg you down if you're above +1 and digg you up if you're below
- hiPpymIck, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2if you post a jokey comment and ppl dont get the humor because its written down rather than spoken
then your comment might get Dugg down for seeming stupid
tho ppl Digging comments its definatly just one step away from complete chaos...haha
but that makes it free to reach crowd wisdom
..the most Dugg up comments are usually the most worth reading - 2oonhed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2This is good. All my missing comments appear in stats......very cool.
- mikewhite314, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2My life is so much more meaningful now that I know that many of my comments that got +1 diggs really had +2 diggs and -1 buries.
- captainpete, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Not to mention I can locate comments that I made while intoxicated so I can see how retarded people thought I was.
- aywwts4, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1And I always reply to people I bury. So most the time I have to search a thread with my username, then with "buried"
- thejokker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1working fine now, must have been too many users.
- 2oonhed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1nice
