- tomboy501, on 10/12/2007, -1/+34Without comments, digg would be a soulless aggregator.
This is a fantastic script. For one thing, you can really see how alive the site is by the speed of the comment scroll (and it's a Sunday!)
Great job, alex! - IvanB, on 10/12/2007, -3/+32Rock on man. Keep up the good work!
- schroeder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22I think it'd be cool if there was an API to follow comment threads that you're currently involved in debate on. I don't know how all this API stuff works, but it'd be useful to me at least.
- bs0l, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I wonder how many people are commenting this story just to see their comment on CommentSpy.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11This is great!
- nihility, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Why are some comments blue and others yellow? Or am I missing something really obvious.
- Bamborzled, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7The yellow ones are replies, I believe.
- builtby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6a pause button would be nice.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7as if digg users couldnt get enough of themselves before...
- AhrenBa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Agreed, that is some nice work there, and can't wait to see what you have in store for us in the future! ;) Thanks!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Without comments, where would I get my partisan fanboy flamewars and half-baked legal advice?
- oxygen911, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Great tool!
My one request after using it for a bit is that it would be nice if there were some sort of "pause" feature. I was really enjoying reading some longer comments and it was like a race to the clock before new stories pushed what I was reading off the page! Still, awesome nonetheless. - kashem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'd like to see an option to see the highest and least dugg comments.
- TimeIsTissue, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5HI, MOM!!!!
- FlyboyP, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Very cool - real time commenting, live scrolling, active discussion.. wait..
Isn't this called... chat? - jcapogna, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Cool, but useless.
- Sil369, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4HEY IM ON COMMENT SPY WEEEEEEEE!!!
- notjamt9000, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4use this: http://diggcomments.headzoo.com/
- amed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2its a great feature.. but i thought digg was all about popular articles not comment :S
- hiPpymIck, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Test Icicle
- Snyder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I feel like I'm doing something shady by looking at CommentSpy. Like I've hacked someones wifi and am reading their IM's. I like that feeling.
- sunamiebob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2looks like a bandwidth whore
- diggless, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I want an easier way to track my comments and replies to them. Unless i am missing something you currently have to go to the stories i have commented on and search for your comments. I want to see just the comments I have made, or an easier way to narrow them down.
- Xyleene, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2just want to see how fast my comment pops up on commentspy :-)
great stuff btw! - dlsspy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@schroeder
I wrote that tool: http://bleu.west.spy.net/diggwatch/
It's a little slow to use interactively because the API doesn't provide queries for exactly what's needed to do that, but I wrote it so I could subscribe with an RSS reader. - alex.bosworth, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1link directly to comment is now supported.
- mwosh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This is sweet.. I'm surprised there isn't a faster flow of comments.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The site needs to link directly to each comment. And allow you to pause, just like DiggSpy does. Too fast to read any longer comments.
- melbourne28, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Awesome idea! Well done!
- Aliarse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Indeed it does.
Hmm, only posted my first comment, not this one... - championchap, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very nice!
Just a suggestion though, as I have little to no idea how to do it myself.
Could you perhaps add some controls to this?
Digg and Bury buttons, and maybe even a reply button? - actual, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Feels like I just entered the Matrix.
- surfing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A [Pause] button would be good.
- rdoger6424, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2who here WOULDN'T want to work at digg?
- kenvsryu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I hope digg hires you or pays you for this.
- oddstar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, neat idea!
- DietMountainDew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1123
- Shenaniganz08, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just bookmarked this, thanks for a good tool
- robbclark, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2testing
- fractured, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2testing again
- aten, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2i'm surprised that theirs not 20 comments saying ***** like
"testing" - felesaerius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this is an awesome idea! wootage!
- tugger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Damn!
- cam18, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1nice tool...
- dlsspy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@championchap
The digg API is pretty much read-only, so there's not a supported way to send them.
The most value of this tool (to me, anyway) is as an RSS feed. I really just threw together a UI to make it easy to find your RSS feed. I'm not much of a UI person, so I'll be happy to take contributions in those areas.
The links to the comment and to the parent are a close approximation to diggs and replies. - lowerlogic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is cool, now if there was a way to integrate this into the comments page of each story, it would be perfect. Also, if this is possible, updating the front page should also be possible, and imo it would be cool to see stories added to the front page in real time as well.

- matrix2022, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is brilliant.
