- tcardone05, on 03/09/2008, -0/+11This is an excellent way to defeat the RIAA/MPAA: everyone has their own BT tracker.
- badassninja, on 03/09/2008, -0/+7Wrong, we need as many sites as possible. Don't you read the pirate bay's blog. Get with it.
- UnrealX, on 03/09/2008, -0/+7That's not how it works.
For example, many sites now have their own forums. If you set-up one, it does not mean that quality of posts of other forums decreases. On the contrary, the more competition there is, the more concerned forum administrators feel to improve the quality of their content. - nitsnipe, on 03/09/2008, -1/+7This might seem like a good way to beat anti-piracy organisations but seriously , no one want's BitTorrent to become like some sort of MySpace. The quality of torrents with start dropping like a rock and the level of spam, viruses and ***** will skyrocket.
When nerds set up private trackers, they usually know what they're doing and are quite committed to it. Thats why if you join any private tracker today, you know that you are going to find quality material, relatively good speeds, and peace of mind from fake torrents.
Now when script kiddies start setting up 1000s of trackers of their own torrent sites, it's going to be tremendously difficult to find a good one.
Quality > Quantity - UnrealX, on 03/08/2008, -1/+7Diferior is distributed under GPLv3. What's so messy about it?
- inactive, on 03/09/2008, -0/+5couldn't i have a better chance of getting arrested?
- TheRealToma, on 03/09/2008, -0/+4Amazingly, there is actually legally free things available via bittorrent. :O
- theaceoffire, on 03/09/2008, -0/+2What would really defeat the RIAA: If I could make a copy of someone elses tracker.
Nothing would piss them off more than if we could have 93 million Pirate Bay backups... it could never go away. - carpespasm, on 03/09/2008, -0/+2we need a way for them to all cross pollinate in that case.
- Crath, on 03/09/2008, -0/+1Let the .torrent flood begin.
- inactive, on 03/08/2008, -5/+4quite a mess of licenses in there...
- say592, on 03/09/2008, -2/+1Honestly, the last thing we need is a bunch more of sub-par torrent sites.
I still like P2P as a distribution method though, and this is a great way to get set up.
