I was disappointed because I thought JAP was cool, but that ruined it for me. Even if they've decided to not have backdoors for police work anymore, it still just left a terrible taste in my mouth that I won't forget. The fact of the matter is that even if you aren't hiding from the police, anybody could potentially use those backdoors. I say stick with Tor.

- Murrabbit, on 01/25/2009, -0/+9I've never used it myself, but it sounds like it should work just fine - but expect to find that everywhere you try to go has already banned connections through it due to abuse, just like any other well-used proxy.
TOR is still the best proxy software I've found, it's strength is in the sheer number of exit ports and speed with which new ones pop up. It's very difficult for most servers to ban all TOR proxies. - Auzy, on 01/25/2009, -0/+8So instead of the trusted end website being able to see your ip, instead an unsafe node can read all your data now, and modify non-ssl data in-flight, which could be used to identify you anyway, or could be used to steal information on your account (change HTTPS login forms to http ones when they are presented, and BAM, some random guy on the internet has your logins).

Whoever runs any node that can be an endpoint, means that logically, every target, and all investigators will jump to conclusions and you will initially be held responsible, until you manage to prove you were proxying their data.

Especially in light of the Bush administration official who was saying; "They spied on absolutely everything electronic." That means, the data before it gets to JAP, is being mirrored to them. JAP may not even know all their data gets packet sniffed at AT&T unless they own the lines that go from you to them -- which we all know they don't.
The only anonymous thing is to come in at an access point that doesn't know you with an unregistered machine (or spoofed MAC address). Never use the same access point again. I'm not a hacker, nor do I do this -- but it stands to reason that there is no way to be anonymous from a government that has abandoned the rule of law and is run by people who think the ends justify the means -- which only justifies the anti-government sentiments they are trying to put an end to. Paranoid ***** never learn, do they?
