- AlmostEvil, on 10/30/2007, -0/+12Or, y'know.. install PDF Creator ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/ ) and use that instead for much quicker results and actual quality settings you can configure with no size limits. (It acts as a printer to create anything you print to it as a PDF)
- dlichteman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Openoffice can output to PDF also....comes in handy

- gamerzworld, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3*cough*Openoffice*cough*
- ubuntuist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Openoffice. Done.
- L0t3k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yes, I've often used OpenOffice to make word docs and pdfs... so when i mail assignments and such, nobody can claim they couldn't read them. ;)

"FPDF is a PHP class which allows to generate PDF files with pure PHP, that is to say without using the PDFlib library." - gonzales, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Useful when using a public terminal without OpenOffice or CutePDF or PDFCreator.
- trepetsk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Open Office: File>Export as PDF
- bcheck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is my favorite online pdf converter, and it's even working right now:
http://convert.neevia.com/ - gometro33, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3OpenOffice

> will be available soon... (After we know about everyone that used the service and keep the docs on our own3d server.) - MikhaelB, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yes, of course:
http://digg.com/software/Collection_of_manuals_about_converting_several_kinds_or_documents_to_PDF - Mike2800, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Another good free source to PDF converter at http://www.freepdfconvert.com
It can also convert back PDF to DOC. - dawgma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I sent off an email to Blizzard in support of this dude. I don't know if, in the end, he was really telling the tuth or not, but Blizzard handled this badly. It's so frustrating to see well written emails responded to so poorly. Especially when it seems like someone actually read a few of them, and STILL decided to only send of a vague, "don't really care", response. Grr....
- danglerman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Open Office...why anything else?
- IamNINJA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1so it is true, you Do learn something new every day. thanks. I'd been racking my head trying to figure out a way to get my resume (in Excel, dont ask why) into a pdf and the hwole time I had the tools but was unaware. thanks
- bobbywilliams, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you are open to paying a little for a top quality PDF creator & PDF editor, have a look at NITRO PDF PRO (http://www.nitropdf.com). The official site has a 10% off sale so you only end up paying around 89 bucks. I have been using it for 9 months without a major hitch. The interface could be better. The help is well written. Support gets back to you within a day or so.
- MikhaelB, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1We developed special manuals for each kind of documents you may need to convert to PDF format:
http://digg.com/software/Collection_of_manuals_about_converting_several_kinds_or_documents_to_PDF - hellsyeah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1PDF creator does the same thing for windows as in OSX/Linux for with pdf files.
- kickarse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1CutePDF and PDFCreator are far better than any of these...
Openoffice rocks too! - pcgeek101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1PrimoPDF works pretty well
- cliffzdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1.pdf isn't bulky, its the reader(s) that are usually bulky.
I use the full on Acrobat Pro @ work on my XP box, very nice and functional. BUT the reader is a pain, even though it pre-loads into memory. So, I use Foxit Reader. It's speedy like quick on XP.
http://www.foxitsoftware.com/
Of course the reader is free... - alloneword, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2cough cough Open Office cough cough,
people still use MS office?? - xiloki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Or one could just use linux.
- withinavoid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I use CutePDF printer driver on windows at work and the built-in PDF capabilities of my Mac at home. Never had problems with CutePDF so I'd recommend that instead of uploading your documents to some web site.
- Dracos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No privacy policy, and I get prompted for an asp.NET session cookie. I'm not trusting my content with these people. I'll still use print to file (postscript virtual printer) and Ghostview.
No digg. - llbbl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2http://www.openoffice.org/
Stop using MS products, support something good! Version 2.0 is awesome and it creates PDF"s :D. - h3adstr0ng, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1its called openoffice
- sensei_zebub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1been a big fan of PrimoPDF. adds PDF converter as a local printer. OpenOffice is good too
- J_Omega, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1been said....for Windows = PDFcreator : http://sector7g.wurzel6.de/pdfcreator/index_en.htm
Goes beyond just officeesque stuff. Acts as a printer for any windows app.
But, how do I convert my LaTeX compile into PDF?!?! oh... nm - mitcharoni, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2So every document you submit for conversion, these guys will now have a copy of. Nice. I really hope there's not THAT many suckers in this world, otherwise we're doomed.
Do you guys also run the executables that come attached to your emails? - screwzluse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does primopdf work on 64 bit Windows XP systems? I'm looking for a reliable 64 bit PDF printer.
- insidesource, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Maybe its me, but I prefer MS Office to Open Office. Meh, either application means you are doing some kind of work...
- Nikolas0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just visited this site, and it is down....
- tituskashmarek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1yea open office does the trick....and why the hell would u want a pdf they drive me nuts
no digg - DiggedBy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0As recommended by Sarah Lane years ago in the good old days.... you know, the petite tipper.
- neofactor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great dialog of PDF converters....
Too bad PDF suck! They seriously give people a quick cheat when adding content to the Web... instead of taking the time to make the page HTML based.
Accessibility, W3C, Usability, go down the list... PDFs are a pain in the ass for those of us trying to have a compliant web... - javaclinic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0pdf creator (open source) would be good to use
- shadowsurfr1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No digg. I use OpenOffice all the time for this reason. If I need to export notes or anything for that matter, it's a one click solution.
- HarryBauzonia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you're on someone else's computer you wouldn't want to be installing software. This is a very nice tool in that case.
- trnelson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0pdf995 is a great app, I would recommend it over anything. Options for security, compression, multipage, etc. etc. etc.
- hasbeen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0excellent information in the comments. Been using adobe acrobat, but it's too bloated for my taste, and it takes forever.
From the ones listed, which one is the best in terms of speed, memory usage etc? CutePDF, PrimoPDF, or PDFCreator? - Veretax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah I love pdf995 and for ten bucks its far cheaper to buy a license for it then acrobat outright
- scsikool, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0>>"FPDF is a PHP class which allows to generate PDF files with pure PHP, that is to say without using the PDFlib library."
It a good library but you have to roll your own to convert HTML to pdf. The scripts they have do not render the complete HTML set of tags. It's kind of piecemeal. - intelmole, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Came up with french error message.
