Can't play DVDs in Media Player in Windows Vista Business? Now you can!

softpedia.com — Reluctantly, I recently upgraded my work laptop (Dell Latitude D620) to Windows Vista Business. Low and behold, I could no longer play a DVD in Media Player. Microsoft had solutions, but they were all to purchase additional software! There were NO decoders available. So, I went on a quest to find a free, legal solution, and viola!

  • apalys, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice comment. Gee, I am SO sorry I ruined your day. Apparently, you cannot read very well in your angry state. I want a solution that makes WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER work. I do not want 3rd party software.
  • Matt2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'd rather know the source of the codec than use one of these fishy looking "codec packs" wrapped up by some anonymous bozo. Do you have any idea what these things are doing to your system configuration? I don't think I want to trust releasing one of these Frankenstein's monsters on my system with no auditing or accountability.

    I did download VLC rather than hunting down my 4 year old PowerDVD disks out of the garage, so this google hunt wasn't a total waste.
