- Insightful, on 02/27/2009, -0/+167Seriously Yahoo!, you were ahead of everybody else but you let it slip away because you are mired in bureaucracy where a promising products dies in meeting hell and a ***** product does not get killed quick enough.
For those who do not know, Yahoo! has close to 500 VPs.
500.
A former Yahoo! employee. - Benjigga, on 02/27/2009, -13/+170What's Yahoo?
I guess I'll Google it. - HappyHourChris, on 02/27/2009, -7/+163Yahoo Briefcase? Never heard of it.

http://i41.tinypic.com/ek3zp1.jpg - jotate, on 02/27/2009, -1/+72Ahh Yahoo Briefcase. You'll be missed. You were a great source of amateur porn back in the day.

- Daniel591992, on 02/27/2009, -0/+52Haha, I logged into mine and found a bunch of 7th grade reports. I think I've gotten dumber since then.
- purkel, on 02/27/2009, -1/+52i logged in and found old nudies of my ex-gf. SCORE!

[ ] GTFO - Santad, on 02/27/2009, -1/+30Haha me neither. In fact when I got the e-mail and checked my briefcase, it was like a sort of time capsule from when I was in high school being opened.
- astrixx, on 02/27/2009, -1/+30No. Yahoo answers is awesome.
- Petrarch1603, on 02/27/2009, -0/+28replying to this thread so that I can come back later.
- speedk0re, on 02/27/2009, -2/+30"If you are a Yahoo! Briefcase Premium subscriber, your current subscription will be canceled on March 30, 2009..."
Somewhere out there, 3 people just cried. - FishHammer, on 02/27/2009, -0/+27Crap, now I have to take the one picture I've been storing on Briefcase for 5 years off it. I thought it'd be safe forever. :(
- techpr, on 02/27/2009, -2/+29I think Flickr has more value than the whole Yahoo Company
- gl77, on 02/27/2009, -2/+29i logged in and found old nudies of someone else's ex-gf. SCORE!
fixed that for ya. - DeathToaster, on 02/27/2009, -2/+28I like Yahoo. You gotta remember to shake it up first though, all the chocolate likes to gather on the bottom.
- TheSpore, on 02/27/2009, -0/+25I assume you mean Briefcase was one of the promising products that never got improved.
Back in the day (around 2003), Briefcase was amazing for being able to send large files to myself because of size limits on email attachments and USB drives weren't widely available yet. It was a leading piece of internet technology. However, most people never heard of it because Yahoo never promoted it, even on its own homepage. If Yahoo had advertised it and integrated this feature better with its email service it would have been years ahead of it's competitors.
Rest In Peace, Yahoo Briefcase. - Zippo, on 02/27/2009, -5/+29Poor Yahoo!... once such a web giant... now slowly dying. I imagine it's only a matter of time now before they crumble and get bought out... and fade into the history books.
- WiretapStudios, on 02/27/2009, -0/+22ok, I lol'd.
- WaveyRavey, on 02/27/2009, -0/+21Still the 2nd most globally visited website according to alexa.
- HappyHourChris, on 02/27/2009, -1/+22I wouldn't say that. Yahoo offers some decent services (Games and Groups to name a couple).
- drmangrum, on 02/27/2009, -0/+17How narrow minded can you be? If I can't find something on Google, chances are I can find it on Yahoo. The problem with Google is that people have learned how to play the rankings game for searches, the results sometimes become unusable. When you have to search through the search...time to go elsewhere.
- BobMysterioso, on 02/27/2009, -0/+17i'm replying because its a good thread. yea, thats it
- Scrappy1850, on 02/27/2009, -1/+18its lycos or GTFO... big john stud used to be my neighbor!
- str1fe, on 02/27/2009, -0/+17Also replying to bookmark. ***** or GTFO.
- dzneill, on 02/27/2009, -0/+15Because people dugg it. That's usually how it works.
- endgame, on 02/27/2009, -2/+17I know I'll probably get dugg down for this but I totally love my Yahoo E-mail. It's funny at work I've noticed that if you're under 30 you absolutely love Gmail & many of my older co-workers 35+ love there Yahoo E-mail. I have a Gmail account too, but I cant stand it, It just seems so 1990's to me. I know I'm in the minority here at Digg since it seems like 95% of the community LOVES Gmail, I just dont get it.
- gl77, on 02/27/2009, -0/+14people kept things in their briefcases that wasnt porn?
- browe07, on 02/27/2009, -3/+17Hello and goodbye.
- ousthouse, on 02/27/2009, -0/+14Yeah? I haven't used anything "yahoo" in probably 8 years... but I have no reason to wish their demise.
- merreborn, on 02/27/2009, -1/+15Yahoo has tens of thousands of employees working on thousands of projects. I mean, there's a ***** http://starwars.yahoo.com/
The breadth of projects yahoo has taken on is astounding, and very possibly unparalleled in the industry.
In that context, 500 VPs isn't really that shocking. - Sigmar, on 02/27/2009, -0/+14I am going to miss this.. not that I have used it in 5 or so years.. but at the time it was awesome.
- yikiad, on 02/27/2009, -0/+13what will i ever do without that extra 30 megs?
- Premier, on 02/27/2009, -0/+12A whole 30 mb? What do you do with all that space?
- GiJoeBob, on 02/27/2009, -0/+12Yeah, I'm in for some of that action.
- jer2eydevil88, on 02/27/2009, -0/+12I remember when fxp forums would sometimes resort to breaking a release into a million small files to upload into the briefcases across several yahoo accounts.. fun times
- zhaojon, on 02/27/2009, -2/+14Yahoo answers is awesome...to make fun of.
- demizer, on 02/27/2009, -0/+12ha ha, reminds me of the briefcase on Windows 95 that I always had to delete off my desktop.
- deadasdisco, on 02/27/2009, -0/+11i don't know. why is there one of you in every thread.
- cozinator, on 02/27/2009, -0/+10"Yahoo! provides 30MB of storage space for your files. "
I've fallen in love with Dropbox because of its 2GB of storage, simplicity, and convenience. I can't imagine Briefcase is/was nearly as good. - zaskie, on 02/27/2009, -0/+105 years ... last time i used it it was 2002 ...
