- CaughtThinking, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Image Browser" v1.0.0
I think we all know it's original name was
Porn Pics Browser v1.0.0 - section31, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1haha, uses quicktime to view images...boy you know its going to suck.
- smokebomb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"have to be running quicktime"
You'd have a pretty tough time running OS X without QuickTime buddy - kiddailey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hmm... I can't resize the browsing window or thumbnails and it doesn't look like an OS X app.
I would definitely not say amazing speed. It's kind of sluggish if you use the arrow keys to move through photos one at a time and it has to reload a directory's thumbnails every time you go to a new one (even if you were just in it moments ago).
Other than that, seems to work as advertised. - radial, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1windows version coming soon? still not available after 73 days already!
- ChrisOdaWas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sure, runs perfect on my iBook and my G5 both with Tiger installed, should work with any OS X since Jaguar.
- aptmunich, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Bites...
This is very sluggish on my 1Ghz iBook G4, I can view and pic in Preview and close it again before this has loaded the thumbnail...
Nice idea guys, but get back to me when it scrolls like butter okay? - DogHumpsMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice find. Thanks.
- badlymade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Really slow to generate thumbnails.
The Browser in Photoshop CS is a far quicker solution to browsing large numbers of images.
No digg. - geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I like it. I've used it for about a day, and I find it to be at least as fast as everything I've used so far, which makes sense to me.
iPhoto is nice, but where iPhoto dumps all of your images in one location, sometimes you've just gotta browse pictures that aren't in one location. I don't care much for Adobe products after their platform megashift to being a Windows-house first and foremost, and I find their applications to just be generally.. bloaty. As for Preview... no. Great for viewing an image at a time, terrible once you've gotta browse a folder.
No, this solves a genuine problem, its fast, and it's lightweight; everything I love about a niche application. Definitely a digg. Look forward to seeing what else this guy codes up. - jasdev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Usually apps give the whole shebang of things to do in one program. I dont like that. As far being useful i couldnt live without xp's thumbnailing feature. hope this would make it easier. dugg anyway
- frem001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0interface needs some work, looks out of place
- Unbeliever, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks really cool :)
- 12340987, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Is it better than picasa?
- Coolcan2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nothing beats comicreader.
- Dimecross, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'll digg it when a version comes out for Windows, assuming it does indeed offer a speed advantage over comparable apps :)
- Oniony, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There's also GQView http://gqview.sourceforge.net/
- smokebomb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This program kinda sucks. Its not faster than most apps at generating thumbnails, and the browsing between large photos is slower than my personal fav, Xee (also free).
- Prod_Deity, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very nice. Dugg.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hopefully the QuickTime thing will be removed for the Windows version.
Though, caching thousands of thumbnails in my RAM isn't worth it, personally. I don't want to have to defrag my RAM all the time just to view images. No Digg.
IrfanView for the win. - drycounty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think the initial run will likely be slow for anyone while it caches the photos. As an experiment, I started by selecting my home folder, where I've got a ton of images. It's about halfway there right now, and it seems a better tool to browse folders than iPhoto.
Now if we could make these thumbnail views Flikr-compatible... - TokinDerrick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0are there any programs out there for Mac OS X (10.4.3, I'm a first time mac user) that will allow me to go through a whole folders worth of images by clicking on like the first image in a folder and then use the arrows from there to view the rest?
preview on here doesn't seem to want to do that unless I highlight and open all of them. - jpbleuu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0so now digg is used to self promote ones software. no digg from me
- geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks cool, will it run on Tiger, Tigger(yes, tigger, OS/X86) and Panther?
- bigpeeler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Is it better than picasa?"
Anything is better than Picassa in my opinion. IrfanView & ACDSee to name two. Picassa's good for some things I guess, but I found it pretty ubtrusive and slow. IrfanView is the love of my life, so maybe I'm biased. - faubdj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's fast on my 1.5 ghz Powerbook G4. Plus, a right click opens the folder where it resides on the hard drive. A quick way to dump a bad picture (and I have a lot of them). It really isn't very Macish, but I like it. DIGG.
- bigpeeler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My bad...I forgot we were referencing Macs here. As such, I plead complete ignorance. Sorry 'bout dat.
- cpawl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Open folder of images... select all... drag to "Preview" app icon in OS X. View ALL images in about 5 times the speed as this piece of worthless poop.
- jtwilkins, on 04/03/2009, -0/+0Scrolls like butter!
- MacNTT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Did anyone read the license? They seem to be overly concerned about not being liable for the damage the program may cause:
"This program may be free, but you are not allowed to distrubute it, this program may only be distributed by Geeklogic.com Since this program is free software, Geeklogic.com and all peoples affiliated with Geeklogic.com take no responsibility for damages that may occur to your computer or your files by using this program.

What the heck does this thing do? Delete your files when you aren't looking? Yeesh! - Steeple, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sorry,i just don't get it...
it's slower than turning on icon preview in the mac finder, and the thumbnails are no bigger - MrMysterious, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I bet it still doesn't hold up to Picasa.
- RaistlinMajere, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@MacNTT:
That is pretty standard stuff for any software license. - Joshuarr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hey, Just registered to post this. I checked out this prog and it totally sucks. If you want something like this but that is actually fast, check out photoreviewer. Its the first thing I run to weed out the good and bad shots from a shoot.
http://www.sticksoftware.com/software/PhotoReviewer.html - Obvioustroll, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I guess I see what you mean about it looking "out of place" frem001; the window style is actually similar to iTunes and some widgets, but the lack of a frame around the thumb nails is a little distracting.
I would suggest visually wrapping a container with a white background and a black border around the thumbnails and tying the scroll bar to the container to create the appearance of a traditional scrolling view. - mxscope, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Post a Windows version then you'll get 10 times more diggs :)
- CreativeGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This app is HORRIBLY slow on a dual 2ghz G5 running Panther, so I suspect it will the same on Tiger. No Digg.
- applebyte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you want to see thumnails of photos in a folder, why not just do icon view in finder and set the view option (command+J) to "Show icon preview." In Tiger, you can also select a bunch of photos in finder, right-click and select "Slideshow" to flip through the photos you selected.
- saladshooter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This program is weak. Really slow to load the photos initially and not very impressive speed in scrolling through them even after cached.
- mouthster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It is not fast.
- sam54m, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0scrolls like butter
LOL - longwang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0looks cool...will try then windows version when that's available
- imbetterthanu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The tinyurl that page creates is interesting: http://tinyurl.com/adoby
Or not. - bossm4n, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Have to be running Quicktime. No digg.
- sebastiangomez, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Simplehacker: Scrolls like butter!!
So true. hahahaha
---
The software does work in less than 30 seconds after dling it I had over 700 pics on it and yes scrolling like butter.. I just don't know if I'll ever use it that much.. I could see someone using this if they had an amazingly huge porn collection but sorry not me.. ;)
The full screen feature is nice but this software needs a few updates and it will be a lot better.

http://macgomez.typepad.com - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0 lightning fast ? lol...
try viewit
oder viewitlight
http://www.hexcat.com/downloads.html - eecue, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0with the new iLife 6, and specifically iPhoto 6 I am now able to browse through photos at lightning speed, even though I have 15,000+ high-res photos from my EOS 20D in my Library. I am running a dual G4 and the difference between 5 and 6 was intense. I was able to scroll through my entire Library like it was a movie.
- eecue, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Sorry my tense was screwy there... I meant to write "I am able to scroll"...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0i though iphoto was the greatest thing since sliced bread?
butter scrolling? the days of butter are over guys.
-lame - opera, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Free or doesn't cost anything?
Oh, it's for Mac. Then it's not free, almost nothing is. Freedom isn't something apple people seem to prioritize.
This is really tragic, yet another image viewer more or less, there are hundreds like that. It's not free and it's not new, and they spam here "Help us by digging GL Image Browser on digg.com"...
Well, I'm glad so many people diggs it. They are in great need of software we others have had for years. Maybe I should start digging what I don't digg and vice versa. Just for the sake of it.

What is Digg?
