I am happy with Windows. I am a gamer and Mac simply doesn't deliver when it comes to gaming. Leave alone that it costs more. - rhabd0mancer, on 02/17/2008, -6/+137Buy a new computer just to change the start menu?
That's pretty ***** retarded. - canthraxp, on 02/17/2008, -5/+77Wtf with apple users today? Did all eat bashflakes for breakfast?
"Digg: Download this for windows"
"Apple fanbots: OH NOEZ, WINSUX, BUY A MACBOOKz, IT HAS TRANSPARENT STUFF ON IT, AND I CAN DO X, Y, AND Z which windows can't"
Can you just be happy with your god damn OS/Hardware? I assure you that 100% of the "Get a Mac" comments have never succeeded to even put the most minuscule idea of actually getting a mac on the mind of anyone. And I can double assure you, that Steve Jobs isn't wetting his bed because you're promoting his stuff. In other words, to all fanbots:
***** you.
-Happy Linux user. - inactive, on 02/17/2008, -26/+83Mac fags are spamming any articles with the word Windows in it. They're more brainwashed than scientologists.
- FirstDigg, on 02/17/2008, -1/+42Launcy is great. I've been using it for a while and now can't live without it.
- fmaxwell, on 02/17/2008, -4/+44Yeah, why would anyone want access to the largest base of applications in the world? And how about those moron engineers, doctors, architects, civil engineers, and so on who use Windows just because their business-critical vertical market app can't be had on a Mac? I can't understand why my company keeps running Satellite Toolkit on Windows when they could just get a Mac and have a prettier start menu.
- xdeliriumx, on 02/17/2008, -5/+39Ditto.
Though, I don't know why anyone would need any of these (especially the first one) if they are using Vista. The new search feature is extremely advanced.
Simply click the Windows Button and start typing the program. Much easier then actually looking for it. - dotlizard, on 02/17/2008, -10/+42didn't see window blinds in there. yet it totally rocks. http://stardock.com/ -- window blinds, object desktop -- many excellent ways to customize your windows experience. not that i'm recommending windows but hey.
- lucidguru, on 02/17/2008, -3/+33Launchy FTW. A menu is counterintuitive and cumbersome.
- Quactaur, on 02/17/2008, -1/+25Windows Key
- fmaxwell, on 02/17/2008, -0/+24I have a CP/M-80 system that's about 20 years old now and it's never had a firewall or virus. Maybe you should get one of those. I've never had a virus on my BeOS system. Maybe that's another one for you to consider. You could also get Solaris, because I've never had a virus on that.
If Macs had 80% of the market share, virus writers would be making them the prime targets and PC users could be the smug ones claiming that they had never had a virus -- despite being so irresponsible as to not have used firewalls, anti-virus software, etc.
Your comment is sort of like "I only f*ck really undesirable chicks and I've never had an STD even though I don't use a condom, so that makes me think I'm really clever for f*cking really undesirable chicks." - Timbertron3000, on 02/17/2008, -0/+24Try http://www.RocketDock.com - I found it worked much better than Object Dock, but took up a fraction of the resources. And it is 100% compatible with StarDock's docklets.
- smartshanz, on 02/17/2008, -8/+31mee same happy with windows
- Dalrek, on 02/17/2008, -4/+27I've never had problems with spyware, viruses, and other malware on Windows. It's an easy fix that's a lot cheaper than a Mac: don't be ***** on the internet.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 02/17/2008, -5/+23Mac people only compare out of box experience.
If there was an overall comparison of Mac Software vs. Windows Software, Macworld gets it's collective ass handed to it.
Talking about Safari being better then IE7 doesn't mean ***** to someone that installs Firefox.
All that crap is pointless once a Windows user begins to install their programs.
Viruses? I've had 3 Windows machines in my house since 2001. All will anti-virus. No threats detected. Ever.
iTunes is a resource hogging terd, that's pointless if you're getting music from somewhere else. I'd even rather use WinAmp. - Daggity, on 02/17/2008, -1/+18He just uninstalled it, and now he's dead. I hope you're happy. :(
- StinkBait, on 02/17/2008, -1/+16And UNIX isn't?
- computergod, on 02/17/2008, -5/+19Reply button, use it.
- inactive, on 02/17/2008, -1/+15you can change that
- inactive, on 02/17/2008, -3/+16Mac fags are spamming any articles with the word Windows in it. They're more brainwashed than scientologists.
- inactive, on 02/17/2008, -3/+15Yes, actually there is. I'm not sure if it can do as much as Quicksilver, as I've never used it because I am also on a Mac, but I know that it can do quite a lot.
We all love our Macs and OS X, but don't be ignorant to the fact that there are good third-party applications just like ours out there in the Windows world as well. - TheFiestyFaun, on 02/17/2008, -0/+11@shankarganesh there is a reply button for a reason
- Paranoidmarvin, on 02/17/2008, -5/+16As a Mac user, I think that the start menu is actually pretty good.
I guess Apple have copied some of the functionality with stacks, but it's not quite the full application launcher that the start menu is - Vazelos, on 02/17/2008, -1/+12I have been using rocketdock for some time now and I highly recommend it
- inactive, on 02/17/2008, -1/+12OS X *comes with* a firewall enabled; why would you remove it?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ipfw - DaffyDuck, on 02/17/2008, -2/+12There is a program called Launchy which I use at work. It isn't as powerful as quicksilver but it's a decent launcher.
- luke16, on 02/17/2008, -3/+13So if you uninstall it right now, you will die?
/omfg sarcasm - Kanidia, on 02/18/2008, -1/+10You know, people who say that are really ignorant.
- spawnfree, on 02/18/2008, -1/+9sorry, i like running games and programs, as well as the os.
- Katana314, on 02/18/2008, -0/+8I have yet to see a customized mac dock menu. The matter of choice on Windows is what sells it for me.
- spect3r, on 02/17/2008, -2/+10I don't even use the start menu anymore, now that I use Launchy.
http://www.launchy.net/ - unrealmp3, on 02/17/2008, -1/+9Where do you work at ? Best Buy in the Geek Squad ??
- ZephyrNinety, on 02/17/2008, -4/+12Ewwww, stick with the default. Those look like *****
- lcmatt, on 02/17/2008, -3/+10Anyone else getting bored of the fanboys constantly trolling on Digg these days?
Windows discussion - Mac/Linux fanboys
Mac discussion - Mac fanboys (MS fanboys hide from the flaming)
360 discussion - PS3 fanboys
and the list goes on and on. Nobody cares which OS, console or other crap you like other than you so stop spamming the same old crap. - xdeliriumx, on 02/17/2008, -3/+10I used it for awhile on my old computer and it takes a lot of resources not to mention that it can mess up your computer if it is not used properly. I remember something about Spybot recognizing one of the changes Windows Blinds made as spyware, thereby dicking your computer if you are not careful.
- Remmy, on 02/17/2008, -0/+7You can have spelling lessons. It's called school. Go ahead, Drop back in.
- cdigioia, on 02/17/2008, -1/+8Right click the Vista start menu icon, then go to properties.
- BrianSaysHi, on 02/17/2008, -2/+9Yah!
- r4ge, on 02/17/2008, -1/+8windowskey+e, windowskey+r
- TheFiestyFaun, on 02/17/2008, -0/+7Does anyone else ***** hate lolcats?
- jollins, on 02/17/2008, -2/+9For Windows there is Enso also, which I think is better than quicksilver. It's free now too.
- inactive, on 02/17/2008, -1/+8I used Windows Blinds for a while and it's not a very good program. It was raping my CPU to the point that I could only have one window open at a time. It was on an older computer, I'm sure it would work fine on a higher end PC, but it still uses a ridiculous amount of RAM.
- Drehmini, on 02/17/2008, -0/+6I was about to suggest rocket dock. Very good program. but I replaced it for Launchy ;)
- TheHayze, on 02/17/2008, -7/+13So, people are NOW just discovering there are ways to make windows not look like windows, or, in the very least, make windows look just a little bit better? This has been going on now for quite some time. Stardock applications, BlackBox Lean for Win, XYZ Dock, just to name a few packages out there. Plus, all of those start bar mods are bloody ugly as sin. Really.
- xdeliriumx, on 02/17/2008, -0/+6yes i meant "type" the windows key from the keyboard.
- drakia, on 02/17/2008, -2/+8I find putting shortcuts in C:/Windows/System32/ named what your program is (So, "firefox" for example would point to C:/Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/Firefox.exe") tends to make it a lot easier to run things. You don't need to go searching through a menu of any sort, you just hit Win+R, type your program name, and you're off.
- Juntistik, on 02/17/2008, -0/+5I hate windowblinds with a passion. stick with visual styles
- waspbr, on 02/17/2008, -0/+5no, dude, no
- l0k0, on 02/17/2008, -2/+7Rocket dock and object dock are pretty good as well...
- sgtpppr, on 02/17/2008, -0/+5PCs have more than one plug which confuses scenesters. Apple also ships their machines with skin tight black jeans.
