- webresources, on 01/13/2009, -0/+5Google Analytics is great, would be perfect if it was live..
- inactive, on 01/13/2009, -1/+6Don't waste your time looking at this.
- justinkuto, on 01/13/2009, -1/+5Why do people always do this. Nobody wants a listing of every obscure tool for a task, people just need a selection of a few good tools from which they can make their own choice.

Somehow, they managed to misinterpret this side-feature of Reinvigorate as a stand alone analytics application. They neglected to mention that you must have a beta account on Reinvigorate to use Snoop. Also, I've been using Reinvigorate for about 2 years now, and Snoop is ... not very good. It's buggy and prone to crash or stop updating. Furthermore, Reinvigorate is not really great for much more than casual/hobbyist analytics usage. There aren't any tools for organising/comparing/exporting your data whatsoever. Lastly, I think Reinvigorate might be dead. I'm not sure, but I haven't seen any updates to the site for quite some time, no new functionality in over a year (strange for a "beta"), and no messages from Sean (the creator). I have no idea if they might just pull the plug on me one day.
Better alternatives worth recommending would be:
- Sean Inman's (not the same Sean as above) Mint: Been using it for a year or so and it's proven to be quite reliable and very user-friendly. I like the whole Peppers thing (plug-ins), which are simple to download and install. Medium-level analytics, but like Reinvigorate, you can't do much as far as massaging your traffic data is concerned. WYSIWYG, but nice for sharing with those who aren't very savvy.
- AWStats: This is an old stand-by. Lightweight, simple enough to use but ugly as hell. Also requires server installation, so none of that javascript load lag, which is nice. Its biggest benefit is also possibly its worst problem; you get a deluge of statistics, but (once again), very little in the way of direct data manipulation/massaging/analysis. Luckily, this article mentions JAWStats, which helps a bit with some of the aforementioned problems. I haven't used JAWStats yet, so I can't comment about it's true usefulness (installing now).
- Google Analytics: Everyone already knows this one, and it's pretty much one of the best. Clean interface, lots of controls for data comparison and manipulation, etc (which is what most of the others are missing). If they made a stand-alone server installation version, it would be near-perfection. - kandlem7, on 01/13/2009, -0/+2Thanks! Very usefull article!
