- twatwaffler, on 04/01/2008, -27/+434It actually took me a minute figure out why they would add such an odd feature. Then I remembered what day it is. I love Google.
- devinmurphy, on 04/01/2008, -9/+149I emailed myself in the past, telling me not to fall for this again. Took me about an hour after i read it to realize how stupid i am for thinking that the company that basically owns the internet would jeopardize their own credibility. DUH
- BeavisMcSleavis, on 04/01/2008, -6/+127Didn't get it until I read "Gmail utilizes an e-flux capacitor to resolve issues of causality (see Grandfather Paradox)."
Job well done Google! - Seantacular, on 04/01/2008, -0/+80Yeah I got excited but then realized that this would never work out.
Just like the relationship between me and women... - SeventhSon, on 04/01/2008, -1/+75That would have been really useful. I had a paper due an hour ago via email. Oh well.
- MatthieuR, on 04/01/2008, -3/+75Old news. Someone e-mailed me this link last week...
- tbranham, on 04/01/2008, -7/+60Buried as inaccurate. Everybody knows that they use pigeons to resolve causality issues.
- nav2k4, on 04/01/2008, -1/+51I like the fine print at the bottom.. "*The term "Every time" is used loosely here to represent the number 10"
- Knucklecallus, on 04/01/2008, -3/+50Perhaps he was implying that it was NSFW because it is such an impossibly cool concept and he became depressed after realizing that it didn't exist, causing him to shout in anger and throw a tantrum while he sat in his cubicle. He was fired and now he doesn't know how he is going to pay his water bill next month, or how he is going to pay off his collapsing college loans. His girlfriend is pregnant and they wanted to take care of it but now they will have to put it up for adoption; she is in her 2nd trimester, they don't feel like it would be morally acceptable to abort it now. Besides, how gross would that be? I mean, I was born 2 months early. Still, that is 3rd trimester, but only like, a month off. The baby would be at least the size of a couple of potatoes, right? Anyways, yeah, he is warning us because it caused him to get fired, and he doesn't want anyone else to get fired because he has an especially high empathy level. He also was pressed on time: his girlfriend just had found out that he had been fired and now they are arguing viciously and violently about their future together. He was working towards his dream job at NASA; now he will never get there because he doesn't have the proper recommendations. What a great guy, warning us of the dangers of Google on April Fools. So simple, it just makes perfect sense to write NSFW.
- dlinkwit27, on 04/01/2008, -6/+46I guess I should get back to work on that paper that is due at 9:00 am
- yacks, on 04/01/2008, -0/+40OH I used to do that with my pop3 account all the time. :) I just set my pc clock 3 hrs behind and voila.. :) it stamps my email with that time.
- bmonet, on 04/01/2008, -3/+42weird xkcd seems different too. http://www.xkcd.com/
- adidos, on 04/01/2008, -3/+36Toliet ISP was better :) http://www.google.com/tisp/
- caLt, on 04/01/2008, -0/+29If digg had that feature, I'd be the one to submit the story...
- revjustin2, on 04/01/2008, -0/+25It's already Christmas where I am.
- machocheese34, on 04/01/2008, -1/+26If we were to let you send an email from Gmail before Gmail existed, well, that would be like hanging out with your parents before you were born -- crazy talk.
- simplechris, on 04/01/2008, -1/+24relationship between you and men is a different story eh?
- inactive, on 04/01/2008, -0/+18Would be an awesome feature to schedule the mail to got out at a particular future date. Imagine composing a Birthday message to all your friends in one day and set the date they go out individually. That would be so freaking awesome.
- pearcey, on 04/01/2008, -0/+14I just sent an email to "grandma" using the email address Grandma_G@gmail.com .... wishing the old bat a happy birthday!! hope she replies!! ;-)
- MadOtaku, on 04/01/2008, -0/+14That much effort deserves a digg. I got a good laugh out of it.
- nandasunu, on 04/01/2008, -0/+14bear in mind that half the world is wide awake and many hours ahead of you... 10:17 in the uk right now.
- Greatfulbread, on 04/01/2008, -1/+15I felt the same way when the announced "Google Paper" last year.
- Johnny1337h4x0r, on 04/01/2008, -0/+11actually this is would be possible, all that has to be changed is the time signature on the e-mail. So you can send someone the e-mail and then it would tell them that the e-mail arrived one day early. obvioulsy the legality of this is questionable, but it sure as hell is cool
- sorrow, on 04/01/2008, -0/+11If Digg had a "Best Of.." section like Craigslist, that comment would definitely get my vote
- inactive, on 04/01/2008, -0/+11That isn't irony.
- atezun, on 04/01/2008, -0/+11Ha Ha. As a dual xkcd and questionable content fan I love it.
- lfroker, on 04/01/2008, -0/+11Gotta be on the lookout. Only 12:30 and they already put out an apirl fools joke. Nice one.
- stevenk87, on 04/01/2008, -0/+10I thought the joke was that there's a Grandma who uses email.
- inactive, on 04/01/2008, -0/+10...april fools?
- frostw, on 04/01/2008, -0/+8It's nearly April 2nd here in Sydney!
- simplechris, on 04/01/2008, -0/+8lets be fair, you too deserve a digg for pointing out his effort and comic genious.
- MadOtaku, on 04/01/2008, -2/+10Don't try to use reverse psychology on me! Buried!
- graphictype, on 04/01/2008, -29/+36April fools from GOOGLE. Got love em!
- my10cent, on 04/01/2008, -0/+7They were smart enough to date it March 31st though hahaha
- DemiRonin, on 04/01/2008, -0/+7Dam google...evil geniuses. I was like 1) what? 2) really? 3)... wait... 4) aww bastards! 5) good one guys :D
- mdmogren, on 04/01/2008, -1/+8outlook supports this...
- ichunxo, on 04/01/2008, -0/+6I'm more concerned about having been called a "nayzee."
- Jordan117, on 04/01/2008, -0/+6Ha! The Questionable Content site is now Dinosaur Comics.
This is awesome. - inactive, on 04/01/2008, -0/+6MINEZ BORKEN
- Rozza, on 04/01/2008, -2/+8this AND worldwide rick roll! gotta love google!
- BTraina, on 04/01/2008, -0/+5After skimming it, the "How does it work? Gmail utilizes an e-flux capacitor to resolve issues of causality (see Grandfather Paradox). " Section kinda que'd me of an April 1st joke
- BaronVonZ, on 04/01/2008, -0/+5this does exist - sort of. Some free "e-card" sites have auto send options that allow you to send cards on a future date. Just hope your friends like MIDI and popups.
- RyeBrye, on 04/01/2008, -0/+4you LOST me on that one
- artoonie, on 04/01/2008, -6/+10Better than TISP? I think so.
Gotta love The Golden Ratio. - phazon88, on 04/01/2008, -0/+4I like how the system requirements require you to have either Internet Explorer 6.0+ or Firefox 1.5+ "with the Google Toolbar" because the browser just wouldn't work without it.
- insertAliasHere, on 04/01/2008, -1/+5Did you seriously tell us to go to "heck?"
- theOster, on 04/01/2008, -0/+4*The term "Every time" is used loosely here to represent the number 10.
edit - sorry haiduz... - T440, on 04/01/2008, -0/+3I'd rather live on mars:
http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2008/04/announcing- ... - Knucklecallus, on 04/01/2008, -0/+3Oh, Death, you out of anybody should know that nothing can control that unruly squiggly line we fondly call "time". Not even Google, for even Google itself must one day crash to the ground! Silly mortal, Death!
- insertAliasHere, on 04/01/2008, -0/+3"The use of words expressing something other than their literal intention. Now that, IS, irony!"
