- factsahoy, on 03/03/2009, -2/+32THIS IS SPAM, PEOPLE. THIS FUNCTION IS ALREADY BUILT INTO YOUR OS.
The truth is right here in the "article":
"Alas, the free version of ScreenDash, while completely functional, adorns your screenshots with banner ads and a ScreenDash logo."
This entire post is SPAM.
Good work, Digg community, for utterly failing to show any intelligence and bury this *****.
And WTF is up with this humping comment box? COME ON. - eatporktoo, on 03/03/2009, -1/+18So did no one else think that this was sad? I mean, you can resize the window to resize the image, but what if you take a full picture of your screen? then the edges of the program would distort the picture... or if you import a picture that is much larger than your screen... Doesn't seem very well thought out at all.
- protiek, on 03/03/2009, -1/+9You have to be joking
- EliteNick, on 03/03/2009, -2/+8Eh, not just Apple, you can do it on Windows too...CTRL+ PRINT SCREEN + paste into desired image editing program.
- goochie, on 03/03/2009, -2/+7Skitch clone?
http://skitch.com/ - JudgeMonkey, on 03/03/2009, -0/+4More like your idiot co-workers suck. I just saved a screen shot of my entire screen using ONLY mspaint. 1440 X 900 resolution.
Yes, the bitmap was 3.7 mb, however, mspaint can save as jpg, and that was 147 kb. - Murfshay22, on 03/03/2009, -0/+4Uh, Paint doesn't force you to save as bmp. You can choose jpg, gif, tif, png as well. Not saying its a great program, but there are other file formats to choose from.
- factsahoy, on 03/03/2009, -0/+4You can shove your spam.
- icehazard, on 03/03/2009, -1/+5Its called the Snipping Tool in Windows Vista...
- EtherGnat, on 03/03/2009, -0/+3Not the same thing but if you just want to be able to capture and auto upload web pages (entire, portion, or rectangle) there is a beta version of the Screen Grab Firefox plugin that has upload capabilities. I've been using it for several weeks and it works great!
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/788 ... - modingo, on 03/03/2009, -1/+4Too funny, I was waiting for the ..../sarcasm
- crueltobekind, on 03/03/2009, -0/+3Interface is actually pretty bad, while the program can be useful for its built-in editing features and so on...anyway I still prefer SnagIt for screen captures.
- darkmotion, on 03/03/2009, -2/+4Too bad it's god ugly :(
- Stonekeeper, on 03/03/2009, -1/+3gscrot/shutter ftw
- inactive, on 03/03/2009, -1/+3Yay! A way to blow $30 on something my OS can essentially do right out of the box!
Buried as spam. Adding Bnet to my list of ***** (aka spamblogs). - fakeid781, on 03/03/2009, -1/+3but you can change the color of the window... that's great functionality... and it could just look pretty
- MikeyMoose, on 03/03/2009, -2/+4What a POS piece of crapware... ugly as snot UI. SPAM and the shill comments are as lame as they are obvious! Good work getting it to the front page tho - wonder how much they paid per digg?
- cspring, on 03/03/2009, -0/+2Be nice people. Your ass is showing.
- nwoolls, on 03/03/2009, -0/+2Always liked Window Clippings myself. I started using it a few years ago because it properly creates transparent PNG's when you capture windows with glass under Windows Vista or 7. Does anyone know of other screenshot tools that do this?
- MikeyMoose, on 03/03/2009, -0/+2Wrong. It was PICT format, which *is* a bitmap.
- findhostcoupons, on 03/22/2009, -0/+2I am a blogger, so I have found this tool very useful!
- varchar255, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1Wait, you press Ctrl? I just press only the PrtScn button and it takes a screenshot of my entire screen. Alt + PrtScn does the active window.
- EliteNick, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1Hm, for some reason I thought you had to press CTRL too, but I guess not. Thanks :)
- stuhr727, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1Jing is a great tool but no paint or photo editing:(
- shtonkalot, on 03/03/2009, -1/+2Buried as spam +1
- huntme007, on 03/03/2009, -0/+1 you guys aren't even reading the article, this software has alot more than screenshot capturing. Like you have the free image hosting which comes in real handy when you are trying to explain something over the IM or when you are asking for help in troubleshooting over IM.
- DCStarClassic, on 03/03/2009, -1/+2Burried Because Of SPPPPPPAAAAMMMMM!!!!!
- freediverx, on 03/03/2009, -1/+2And it does all of the above poorly! Yay!
- suprchunk, on 03/03/2009, -1/+1Peddle your spam elsewhere, douche bag!
- suprchunk, on 03/03/2009, -1/+1Douchebag.
- Pofke, on 03/03/2009, -1/+1this must be a joke...
- inactive, on 04/23/2009, -0/+0More like PaintBrush's clone. hahaha
http://www.ad4game.com/ - shtonkalot, on 03/03/2009, -1/+1I thought Ad when I read it but yes sad.
- suprchunk, on 03/03/2009, -1/+1Why would we read your blogspam? And he didn't say anything about which OS he was using. And learn to use the reply button spamwhore.
- Sunira, on 03/05/2009, -0/+0What about the ads and watermarks on your images? :( No screenshot capture software should do that!
- stuhr727, on 03/03/2009, -1/+1Its for Windows not for MAC, read the article Zenham before you post.
- AVigorVermin, on 03/04/2009, -1/+1Jing is free. It does video captures too. Oh, and it has share functionality as well :)
- topperstone, on 03/03/2009, -2/+1he moves the mouse like a retarded
- ahnmin, on 03/03/2009, -5/+4um... don't apple computers already let you do this... for free? command+shift+4?
- mvatlarge, on 03/03/2009, -1/+0The RocketPost blog client has screenshots built in. (disclaimer: I designed it)
- freediverx, on 03/03/2009, -4/+2Macs' print screen utility can automatically save as a png or jog, whereas Windows requires you to open the POS that is Windows Paint and then save as a huge BMP file. Useless.
Regarding usability, I'll bet a higher percentage of Mac users know how to use their screen capture utility then Windows users know how to use print screen and Paint to generate those moronic bmp files. Also great how Windows keyboards still call this function Print Screen when it does anything but. - stuhr727, on 03/03/2009, -3/+1Read the article its similar to the snipping tool but it provides instant image hosting and photo editing tools! There are alot more options than Vista provides or your print screen. This tool combines screenshot capturing, paint and photo editing tools, and instant image hosting, thus you dont have to use 3 programs!
- freediverx, on 03/03/2009, -5/+3Not in the same league. On a Mac, you can automatically save to a compact jpg file, while windows will save the file as a ridiculously huge bmp file. This is the primary reason I have to archive my Outlook mailbox every two weeks - dozens of people in my company who use CTRL + PRINT SCREEN combined with Windows Paint to capture and send screen shots to everyone in the company. Tyoical image size = 5MB.
Windows sucks. - ftwb, on 03/03/2009, -3/+1This would be awesome if the snipping tool didn't already exist. Oh, and it's free.
- stuhr727, on 03/03/2009, -4/+1Haha, all the negative comments, did you even check out the software? You guys are dwelling on the screenshot, this is the ONLY SOFTWARE THAT CAN DO AUTOMATIC HOSTING FROM YOU DESKTOP!
- jaksu, on 03/03/2009, -4/+1great tool for the "This is why I love digg" submissions
- factsahoy, on 03/03/2009, -8/+3Yes, note the usability difference between the Apple and Windows.
As usual, the Mac one is a nonsensical ***** key combo, whereas the Windows one is Ctrl+PrtScrn.
And, once upon a time, the Mac one created not a bitmap but a goddamned Acrobat document. BRILLIANT. - boodaa, on 03/02/2009, -8/+2Looks pretty sweet.
