- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6How did this make it to the front page? These are largely the dumbest extensions ever. Seriously - a stopwatch?!
- SatansMagicHat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Exactly, archon, and seriously guys, people need to stop posting digg stories from their blogs. If everyone did it, Digg would go downhill completely.

And how exactly did YOU know that I did not know these existed? - Ace2005, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I think it should be called 8 Cool Firefox Extensions you Never Needed but you're going to Install Anyway

I do have that extension but the reason I like Aardvard is because when I use Cute pdf to save a webpage as a pdf I can get rid of all the crud on the page before saving it. Very useful and easy to do this I can't imagine using the Web Developer Toolbar to do this as quickly.
And now that I have updated to the latest version Aardvark 1.1 it is working again. - rm999, on 10/12/2007, -3/+48 useless Firefox Extensions you Never cared about
- cbenard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I put this on the blog comment board:
There aren't billions of hackers. There are only 6.4 billion people alive. 2/6 or 1/3 of people aren't hackers. Those extensions were horrible, except for tinyurl. I hate when people who write blogs do a firefox extensions list and then submit it to digg. Happens every day.

- person, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3nope.
- Pollack, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Installing extensions is not without risk. Be sure you really need an extension before you install it.
- spiderland, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3"Hey Anamith and spiderland I see you haven't written any articles, funny. Why don't you start writing then criticize."
I've written articles for many items, the most recent of which was my SANS GIAC paper. However, blog posts as digg articles either: 1) don't present anything substantial, or 2) just paraphrase source material that should have been linked in the first place. That's not to say that they're all bad. The Thomas Hawk blog posts were certainly fascinating.
For the most part, however, we're better off without ALBP. - slurpee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0LOL, here is my 8 extension I want you know it Existed!

- cawpin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What is the point of a using TinyURL if you already use Firefox? You can specify anything you want to type to get to a webpage. I could make d - "Enter" go to http://digg.com

Anyone know any extension manager can manager firefox extension? or easy backup extension?
Thanks for all the useful info :p - Friedbeef, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Not really a bunch of good extensions... it looks like a fun blog idea:)
- ThePharaoh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@mousky
Apparently you missed the words "more popular" meaning more popular than the others. Yes it's semantics, but if you misread the words then you miss the whole context. And what the hell do you gain by calling someone an idiot? I guess it just makes you feel better about yourself.

C:Documents and Settings[user name]Application DataMozilla
Just rename it to "Mozilla - old" or something like that (note that application data is a hidden folder). Might as well uninstall Firefox, completely delete the Firefox program folder and then reinstall it while you're at it. Then when you run Firefox you'll start off with a fresh profile and you shouldn't have any problems. You can copy over your bookmarks folder from the old profile (or export it and then import it). - serra, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Eeeeeh, not too good. Except for perhaps the Select Search, I'll have to try it out.

- zqwerty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Hmmmm sorry about that last comment, I see that it has been updated for Firefox 1.5, I eMailed them about this months ago looks like they finally fixed it.
- zamolx3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Nice extensions. Great job allthewhile.
- deadkenny, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Nothing interesting here. The only half interesting one is no different from WebDeveloper anyway (and probably does less).
No digg. - ThePharaoh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0@all you blog post haters
Get over yourselves. People digg blog posts all the time and yet they still make it to the front page. How about the Price Rite Photo guy...that was a blog post and yet it is now the most digg story of all time. Quit bitching about people posting blog entries. They still get hits to their site because the people on digg are compulsive. You're not paying for digg's bandwidth or database usage so stop complaining and just go on with your life. It's not like posting a useless comment on someone's dugg blog posts is going to change how digg is run.
And to the OP, thanks for the nice post. I usually don't make it to the bottom of the firefox extension list even though there are some useful items there. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

(another lame blog post). - pyrolupus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0If everyone gets the extensions that no one has--er, had--then do we need to make a new list or just forget about it entirely? Not that I'm ever getting "Stopwatch," mind you. I still can't intelligently explain why I installed FoxyTunes... I mean, it's kinda cool, but who needs media controls in a web browser?
- ziffel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Slurpee, thanks for the Flashblock url. I've been looking for one that does exactly that.
- Inbal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Not especially useful or extraordinary extensions.
- zqwerty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Aardvark extension stopped working for me round about Firefox 1.4 beta1 has anyone else had this problem or is it just me? I have had to use Nuke Anything Enhanced 0.53 instead.
- n3tfury, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0since 1.5 i've switched to Opera until the ridiculous mem leak gets tended to. it's atrocious.
- Archon810, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0there's a reason i didn't know about these extensions: they're useless.
- ForbesBingley, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Hang on!
Am I the only one who thought all eight of these 'cool' extensions were total *****? - TRUEPATRIOT, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0so true rm999... a stopwatch come on -.-
- japanlover, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0yup hate to say it but these extensions suck...people don't know about them for a reason...
- mousky, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0No digg. Lame. The blog describes these as 8 extensions that we never knew existed, yet Advanced History Manager is described as "one of the more popular extensions I’ve included on this list". How can something that supposedly does not exist be popular? Idiot.
- davedunn03, on 10/12/2007, -7/+0I think the article is awesome. Hey Anamith and spiderland I see you haven't written any articles, funny. Why don't you start writing then criticize.
- allthewhile, on 10/12/2007, -8/+0Oh, and i'm guessing you're perfect, Anasmith?
