Based on most of the replies so far (and the buries) you guys have to brush up on your computer history!

- Botrax, on 12/11/2007, -0/+4AT&T ones sound very good.
http://www.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php - rivalius13, on 12/10/2007, -1/+5I'll stick with my trusty Bonzi buddy, thank you very much.
- zeeky, on 12/10/2007, -0/+3anybody know what voice generator goog411 uses? it almost sounds like a real guy.
- memills, on 12/10/2007, -0/+3I've been using TextAloud for years. Great with AT&T voices. Ck it out: TextAloud.com
- IllBeBack, on 12/10/2007, -0/+2Sorry, but you are incorrect.
- inactive, on 12/10/2007, -0/+2What about speech to text?
- sexybobo, on 12/10/2007, -0/+2damn diggnation was replaced by a simple tool http://www.talkr.com/

- JeffrySG, on 12/11/2007, -0/+1This one from AT&T research is great....
http://www.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php - JeffrySG, on 12/11/2007, -0/+1opps.... beat me to it....
- detour27, on 12/10/2007, -0/+1Great find, my gf has aphasia and relies on tools such as these. Using sites like these will help her when she is not at her home computer that has her usual software.
- inobla, on 12/11/2007, -0/+1I've been trying to find a version that will work on my Audigy. I used to prank call my friends with that thing all the time. By hitting Say "whatever" we've come up with some of really offensive and raunchy stuff. Ahh. I miss my Sbaitso buddy. Creative did an awesome job on that thing.
- loquax, on 12/10/2007, -0/+1I have the Expressivo and like it a lot! The voice and diction make it almost 100% spot on for an American female voice. I'd recommend buying the tool as it has the ability to read unlimited text and newsfeeds. My only complaint so far is that it needs a voice editor to make the voice male/female high/low etc. Well worth what I paid for it.
- DJMajickman, on 12/10/2007, -0/+1Darn my Mac already reads my pdf/txt/html/etc., etc. files to me. Plus no file size limits
- thefinger, on 12/11/2007, -1/+2MY DICK IS TOO LONG, I HAVE TOO MUCH MONEY, AND MY BLONDE GIRLFRIEND EXPECTS ME TO BANG HER AT LEAST TEN TIMES A DAY.
- thefinger, on 12/11/2007, -0/+1Every last one of those are a waste of time. ReadPlease has been doing this for me for seven years. These online offerings give you too few options, or too many. E.g. You shouldn't have to save something as a wav or mp3 in order to hear the ***** thing. At least for Windows, ReadPlease is a better option than any of these dogs. Dugg down.
- roostersheep, on 01/16/2009, -1/+1"or sometimes we just want an entire passage to be read out to us."
I'm so damn lazy when it comes to reading it's ridiculous! I used to always run the text to speech converter to listen to long articles. The only reason I stopped was because it sounded like crap! I should really read more. - elblanco, on 12/10/2007, -3/+3Nicely done. My hat is off to you for this oldy but goody.
- samuel99, on 05/27/2008, -0/+0wordtosound.com — Free online tool to covert any text in english to audio. Download the audio directly as mp3 or wav. Controls limited. volume can be controlled but voice croaks at higher volumes. better quality in the wav format , though larger file size. Accent is british. Based on Unix Festival.
- RobbieF, on 12/10/2007, -2/+1There are good freeware "offline" TTS and voice synths out there, too. Check out: http://www.magnifiers.org/news.php?action=fullnews ... ... NVDA.
This is one of the things that keeps me away from linux... the accesibility (or lack of it.) Yes, I know there are a couple TTSs and there's even a magnifier, but they're almost unusable. - inactive, on 12/10/2007, -2/+1But does it sound like a robot or a hot girl? Also what's more cool is the opposite instead of typing something you say it and it gets translated into text.
- ZachSka87, on 12/10/2007, -3/+2Dammit. I needed this last night to read my finals study guide to me while I played WoW. Oh well, better late than never....
- eklife, on 12/10/2007, -2/+1interesting ideas... now...for those really long blogs...this is gona be fun
- chris1234, on 12/10/2007, -4/+3Thanks for sharing it.these tools are very useful
- lpmiller, on 12/10/2007, -3/+2Well, there is also having the text to speech rap out I like Big Butts.
- Tourniquet, on 12/10/2007, -4/+2http://say.expressivo.com/R5xxbxe0
- reckoner, on 12/10/2007, -3/+1http://www.freewarefiles.com/program_9_105_19529.h ...
which works pretty good and is freeware. - DiscoLando, on 12/10/2007, -4/+1... give me your answer do ...
- growlands, on 12/10/2007, -3/+0I read the title "Why I got Fired" and thought... interesting, then I saw (PICS) and knew this was gonna be good.
- DiscoLando, on 12/10/2007, -6/+2I *would* not want to miss? Using that tense implies there is a reason I actually do want to miss it.
- hadak, on 12/10/2007, -9/+2My problem? You.
- teh_techie, on 12/10/2007, -8/+1Oh... my... god...
I think you should do more than talk to a speech synthesizer for help...
