- BLyn, on 01/03/2008, -0/+1136: No more asking me if i want to save the password before i realize that i mistyped my password.
- Superperson, on 01/03/2008, -2/+110Why in hell does this have to be on 2 pages? Seriously, people.
- zhulien, on 01/03/2008, -4/+87when are they going to make the GUI it's own thread 100% non-reliant on the fetching of data so that it doesn't pause every once in a while when downloading 100s of pages at once!
- NasKa, on 01/03/2008, -2/+465 things on ***** two pages?
- rnawky, on 01/03/2008, -0/+42More Ad revenue.
- tfrans, on 01/03/2008, -1/+33The only change in Firefox 3 I care about is whether or not they fix all the memory leaks. I use many tabs at a time in multiple windows (two monitors) and have found firefox using up to 600MB. If they can fix that and off the same support for addons as Firefox 2.0 I`ll be happy.
I`m looking forward to a version of 3.0 that supports Web Developer and Firebug so that I can try it for myself. - vault, on 01/03/2008, -2/+26On OS X it finally doesn't look so foreign and out-of-place with the Proto theme https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/605 ...
I like FF3b so far...uses a lot less RAM too. - skyshock1, on 01/03/2008, -0/+24No this happens on OSX and Linux as well. I don't use Vista at all, so I had no clue about this, but it's definitely a problem cross-platform.
- Giga, on 01/03/2008, -1/+21Considering it happens on XP and Gentoo and Ubuntu as well, yeah, let's all blame Vista anyway.
- jerrilthegreat, on 01/03/2008, -4/+23This was on front page 6 days ago!

http://digg.com/software/5_Things_You_ll_Love_Abou ... - AgmLauncher, on 01/03/2008, -0/+16Hmm, can't say I'm happy with FF3's new download manager. I'm one of those people that obsessively cleans out their recycling bin, and I do the same for my downloads list. I always clean the list after I download a file. The clear list button is missing now, and you have to right click in the list to clear it.
Bookmarks have NOT worked as smoothly as I like. It's very finicky about which folder it uses as the default for bookmarks. Why isn't there are a command to "quick add" a bookmark to the default folder that doesn't require you to confirm anything?
And now the History browser is a joke. It was so nice when you could load it in the sidebar, but now it loads up some silly unified Places window which takes an hour to load since it doesn't split up history into dates (e.g. today, yesterday)
The only thing that's REALLY good about FF3 is the faster page rendering, but that's about it...
Not happy with the changes they made to this version. - cdawzrd, on 01/03/2008, -0/+16I want the ***** "clear list" button back in the download manager. I hate having to right-click...
- iofthestorm, on 01/03/2008, -0/+16Seriously, that used to cause so many headaches. The new password saving mechanism is really slick.
- Vician, on 01/03/2008, -2/+17I believe they are digging you down because they don't really give a ***** if it's been on the frontpage or not. You're very much free to skip over it. Dupes are going to be the way of life on any site run by users and it's never going to get any better.
- zhulien, on 01/03/2008, -0/+15actually this digg site is an excellent example of the problem, just go to the popular stories, then open say 15 in different tabs in the back ground. click on a tab, it doesn't respond for ages. this is a critical failure of the software in my view and I feel it's got worst in recent releases. if a particular page is downloading fine, make that tab busy, but not the entire browser.
- joegibes, on 01/03/2008, -7/+22On my computer (2gb DDR2, 3ghz cpu) Firefox freezes for about 10-30 secs when I have more than 5 pages open. Maybe it's Vista's fault.
- TheWindBlows, on 01/03/2008, -1/+14you got it all wrong its not crashware its a feature.
Auto-Shutdown - Wolfghost, on 01/03/2008, -1/+136. Auto-skip of Computerworld's damn full page ads.
- inactive, on 01/03/2008, -22/+34This exact story was seriously on the front page less than a week ago. This is ***** scary.
- cptnspoon, on 01/03/2008, -1/+13I get (not as severe) freezes in Kubuntu (7.10)...it's a big problem with the browser and has me using Konq more and more which is a big shame because I really adore Firefox
- Majorcrash, on 01/03/2008, -0/+12Thanks for this. I almost forgot seeing that exact website last week. I blame New Year's Eve.
- seraph582, on 01/03/2008, -1/+12I think it's Apple's fault.
- MrThirsty, on 01/03/2008, -1/+12Don't get me wrong, I am a firefox user but i have to say that firefox uses a TON of memory...
- KWhat, on 01/03/2008, -1/+11Dreamweaver is professional development tool! Its a ***** heap of ***** for designers who are to stupid and/or lazy to learn their trade.
- unknownsoldierX, on 01/03/2008, -2/+12Firefox does that to me, too. Multiple window/tab performance has equally terrible on XP and Vista.
- Frostman3D, on 01/03/2008, -0/+8To make more room for ads and more pages for ads.
- ajchavar, on 01/03/2008, -4/+12i've been using the beta2 for about a week now and i love it! its just annoying that my plugins don't work while its in beta.
i've noticed a surprising jump in speed on page loading too, but for some reason it messes up some flash instances, and often marks pages as loading for a long time after they're done (over an hour once, i clocked it).
this is off-topic but it would be awesome if someone would figure out how to build a "web-clip" plugin for FF3 so that i never need to use safari. - bosssmiley, on 01/03/2008, -2/+10A British version of Firefox would have to be made of mahogany and cast iron, and you'd have to smoke a pipe (or Woodbines) while using it. It would also stick Union Jack flags in every website you browsed, thereby claiming them for Queen and Country.
- tgc1, on 01/03/2008, -2/+9This happens on XP as well. But I think it has more to do with javascript memory allocation than it does anything else.
- mvent2, on 01/03/2008, -0/+7Why the ***** would you need 1852 tabs?
- inactive, on 01/03/2008, -0/+6Really? i have to get my ass in gear and try it. Thanks for the tip.
- Terr01, on 01/03/2008, -1/+7If Opera were to make a compatibility layer so that Opera could use some common FF extensions they'd make major inroads. (Of course, any huge project can sound easy when you package it in a glib phrase like "compatibility layer".)
- sunyata76, on 01/03/2008, -2/+8But not to us awesome Americans.
- Forky, on 01/03/2008, -1/+7Obviously, as soon as it is done. Or you can try the beta :P
- seraph582, on 01/03/2008, -2/+7No worries -you can just get a menstrual cycle addon for your English US version to make it more British. It's the beauty of Firefox.
- pharekyz, on 01/03/2008, -3/+8FTA: "Firefox could commandeer nearly 200MB of memory, at which point I'd usually have to shut it down to prevent my other apps from grinding to a halt."
What the hell system almost grinds to a halt after losing 200MB of memory to firefox? Is this guy using a computer from 1998 still? Seriously. - drachemorder, on 01/03/2008, -0/+5As opposed to one written by, say, a greedy, unethical, dominating company that wants to control and restrict every aspect of your computer?
- fkr3, on 01/03/2008, -3/+8Why is it written at all? The many Firefox users on digg are fully aware of 3 and a significant share have probably already played with it.
The answer is you're easy marks for ad revenue. - Dylson, on 01/03/2008, -4/+9-1

- andycr512, on 01/03/2008, -0/+4That cliche is so old and untrue it isn't even funny. The administrators for open source projects aren't anonymous, and many are in the US, not that it matters. The code passed to the projects anonymously is always inspected upside-down and right-side up by dozens of people before it's let near the main line.
- tgc1, on 01/03/2008, -0/+4Which is why I don't understand why they do not just load ALL of the comments, and then just hide the sub-comments until you want to see them. I mean why ***** around with Ajax if you don't need it? Makes no sense. I used to be able to open about 20 tabs and the browser would just hum along like nothing was happening. Until the last revision with this sub-comment *****.
- geoboy, on 01/03/2008, -0/+4Shhhh! I liked it better when we were blaming Vista!
- stutimandal, on 01/03/2008, -0/+4Sticking to W3 standards and Adblock Plus are the only two things that I need to love Firefox.
- Bamborzled, on 01/03/2008, -0/+4For Acid2, Firefox 3 passes it, and has passed it since the alphas (or at least passed--I think they changed the test a bit or maybe it's a bit buggy, but none of the browsers pass it. Weird.)
- mengland, on 01/03/2008, -0/+3You are my new hero.
- nospinhere, on 01/03/2008, -1/+4You know what I will love? The ***** finally being released after a year of talking about it.
- iofthestorm, on 01/03/2008, -1/+4Where did you find a 512MB integrated video card?
- TheWindBlows, on 01/03/2008, -0/+3Intergrated shared . 512 MB of that are given over to the Video card its a simple BIOS option.
- mrmacky, on 01/03/2008, -0/+3I just want the new location bar to not only match my history, but to search my bookmarks.
But for a beta, it's simply amazing. Faster, more stable, and it's not even complete yet. -
