- sparkyeyes, on 08/07/2009, -3/+23Very concise and well written tips.
- crackerjack20, on 08/07/2009, -3/+11Fake! Looks like a photoshop. I can tell by the pixels.
- M3tALHaz3, on 08/07/2009, -2/+9Perspective cropping and the non-destructive cropping have to be two of the coolest tips!
I use PS on a daily basis and I can't believe I missed these....
However, I haven't tried these yet but I wonder how many of these tricks are specific to a certain version of PS. I only have PS CS2 - latin69, on 08/07/2009, -2/+8Hiding with a crop is one I never used. Good stuff!
- BossKey, on 08/07/2009, -0/+4BTW if you want to restore all the areas that got hidden, do Image/Reveal All.
- inactive, on 08/07/2009, -1/+5*one of these
- Skurt, on 08/07/2009, -0/+3RE: Move tool while cropping. When you 'rubberband' your crop area you can hold down the space bar and the crop tool will turn into the move tool and you can move your crop where you want.
Like if you specify the crop size as 4x6 then rubberband your 4x6 crop box, hold down the spacebar and move until you get the best 4x6 section of your picture and let go of the spacebar, hit enter and voila'
did not know about the hidden crop though, like above said, so many checkboxes and all I normally do is just grab a section and crop! - ZoomBoy, on 08/07/2009, -0/+3HOLY CROP!
- yifanlu94, on 08/07/2009, -1/+4Cropping is about the only thing I know how to do in Photoshop.
- J0415, on 08/09/2009, -0/+2Could be because this is coming from "Digital Photography School" and photographers are not likely to expand the canvas beyond the size of their photos? Just a guess.

- PsychoDesigns, on 08/07/2009, -0/+2wow I cant believe they didn't mention how to increase the size of the canvas with the crop tool... well here it is:
6. if you need more canvas space, use the crop tool by clicking and dragging across the entire canvas and let go... then click on one of the corners of the crop area and drag it outside of your canvas... then double click on it or hit Enter...
Enjoy... - inactive, on 08/07/2009, -1/+2That drop-shadow effect is awful...
- RamblingSoul, on 08/07/2009, -2/+3That was very useful.
- hellengineer, on 08/07/2009, -6/+7I actually needed one of this secret yesterday.
- BossKey, on 08/07/2009, -0/+1In your case there's nothing wrong with learning the basics from the Internet. Photoshop has got to be one of the most tutorialized subjects on the Web; you can learn a bunch just from the free videos that all over the Internet and YouTube. If you want to take a serious course online you could sign up at a site like Lynda.com where there are long video courses in Photoshop.
- mrBitch, on 08/08/2009, -0/+1All great tips from Helen, but she really needs to have a professional assist her with her web site :
http://www.helenbradley.com/mywork.htm - ArtelPal, on 08/07/2009, -0/+1Guys, sorry for the question, do you think it's possible to learn some basics of Photoshop by finding some online or offline courses in internet or it's better to take an educational course? It's just for myself, I'm not going to be a designer...
- solecize, on 08/07/2009, -1/+2*one uh them

- TheBigBentley, on 08/08/2009, -4/+1What is this a tutorial for PS morons?
- InvaderDem, on 08/07/2009, -11/+5No offense to the author but ... really? A tutorial for the crop tool? Can't people just play around with it for awhile to learn about it?
- samby, on 08/07/2009, -10/+2Control-T (for transform selection) is the best trick I ever learned in photoshop.
