- Subassy, on 02/14/2008, -0/+1I recently discovered you could do some tricks with RSS feeds and you tube. For instance if you use this url:
http://www.youtube.com/rss/user/[username]/videos. ...
You can download all the videos for playing on your computer via RSS reader. Like miro for instance. That's what I do: put the feed in miro and stream the videos over the network to my TV (with TVersity).
Here's an example feed with a username:
http://www.youtube.com/rss/user/retrowaretv/videos ...
(I have nothing to do with this show except being a fan)
Did everyone already know about this? Here's more fun information on youtube and rss:

- t2t2, on 02/13/2008, -0/+11st (iDesktop.tv): Oh great, more easier ways to download = More copies of videos, and copies of copies, and so on and so on.
2nd (OrbitDownloader): See above.
3rd (Videoembed): In my opinion it makes page too much longer.
4th (VideoFocus): Maybe even good, but i believe my daily dose of laughter from YT comments. Also for ads everyone have a stop-sign-shaped icon in firefox.
List buried as Lamer than lame. - Dumbledorito, on 02/13/2008, -0/+1So here's a question: Is there a YouTube style (or feature of YouTube I don't know about since this article is fragged deadder than a Halo 3 player hit by a traffic cone) site that hosts videos and does some kind of ad revenue sharing? I mean, I'm no Zero Punctuation, but I've got an idea for a series and while tossing it up for free is nice, I'd kind of like a little Google Ad-type money for my troubles.
- meghalc, on 02/13/2008, -0/+1I actually like these tools. I knew they existed but didnt know where to find it! It will be a perfect tool for my organizations video commercial on the front page I am working on! http://ferrisformula.com

iDesktop.tv http://www.idesktop.tv/- iDesktop.tv is basically a Youtube but with a way more interactive interface plus an option to download and save any video to your PC.
OrbitDownloader (Windows) http://www.orbitdownloader.com/ - Powerful all-in-one media downloader for your desktop.
Videoembed (Greasemonkey script) http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/7686 - This one is really cool. Youtube videos are linked from everywhere these days. And this addon lets you watch the video right on the page it’s linked from. It automatically adds embedded video after each link to pages like Metacafe, Youtube, Myspace… and many others so you can view the video without going to the website. Check it out in action on the Digg’s video section.
VideoFocus http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/19701 - Want to watch online videos without any distractions like ads, chats, comments, etc? - bicyclethief, on 02/13/2008, -1/+2I thought for sure Chris Crocker would've been one of them...
- techresearcher, on 02/13/2008, -0/+1"Web 2.0 is a phenomenon and YouTube is the perfect symbol of Web 2.0 applications. It has become wildly popular - one of the most popular, most-visited sites on the internet. No matter how pften you visit it, you always come back."
I thought that was DIGG! - smackafiyah, on 02/13/2008, -0/+1Will any of these let you download private videos?
- tbull, on 03/10/2008, -0/+1More tools right here, check it out.

- MScrip, on 02/13/2008, -1/+1I've tried every method to get good looking videos on Youtube. There are plenty of great quality videos on Youtube... but mine always look soft and pixelated. I know Youtube sucks in terms of quality... but why do some videos look good, and mine look like crap? I shoot MiniDV, use Premiere, I've tried exporting to Quicktime Pro and many other methods... but my videos still look terrible! Can anyone help?
- inactive, on 02/13/2008, -3/+3hey! you stole my icon!
- gigaboy20, on 02/13/2008, -1/+1You forgot one more: Blip'd lets you put widgets into your youtube videos so you can make money selling anything the widget could offer from your videos. Blipd.com.
- davidquintana, on 02/13/2008, -0/+0Very Good!! :)

- darlyn, on 02/14/2008, -1/+1Buried as inaccurate. These aren't YouTube tools that enhance the site in some way; they're just bland knockoffs. Until some site mirrors all of YouTube's videos, I won't give two ***** about sites like this.
- immersofloctan, on 02/13/2008, -2/+1as in "pwn", stupid. viral memes FTW!
- animalfreak, on 02/13/2008, -2/+1so was that for users on youtube or just to show you some websites that probably dont have as many vids.
- time4wrk, on 02/13/2008, -2/+1Doesn't work.

Beginning to wonder how YouTube and web video will look 5 years down the line, when bandwidths are likely to be even higher... - GemStar38, on 02/13/2008, -7/+1The videoembed script looks really cool. I'm going to try it out.
- grman, on 02/13/2008, -6/+0Anyone got a mirror?
