One page article: http://www.maximumpc.com/print/9005 - casspa, on 11/10/2009, -1/+17Solid list....I'm actually surprised how few of these I knew.
- pwarnock, on 11/10/2009, -1/+12The Gmail setting is my favorite.
- enrico, on 11/10/2009, -0/+9upping the maximum number of connections allowed to a single server would exacerbate the digg effect. if everybody does it, digg can take down servers in double time. awesome.
- dodger6, on 11/10/2009, -0/+7Dugg for actually containing some useful information.
- Zettabyte, on 11/10/2009, -0/+6Or use Autopager.
- inactive, on 11/10/2009, -1/+5Really nice tips for the firefox users.
- AndrewDB, on 11/10/2009, -0/+3The Speed up Browsing thing is fake. Just fyi.
- MakanGuru, on 11/10/2009, -1/+4These are actually useful and great FF tweaking tips for once.
- najeebs, on 11/10/2009, -0/+3Very useful stuff. Though I consider myself to be an above-average user, I was surprised at what I didn't know. Thanks!
- KingSnorky, on 11/10/2009, -0/+3"A feature actually first introduced in IE 8, Firefox’s private browsing mode..."
Jeez, guys. Haven't you ever heard of Chrome? - betona, on 11/11/2009, -0/+2After reading this yesterday, I did some of the about:config network.http tweaks that seemed to make sense... and slowed the browser down dramatically. Load two things in two tabs and nothing happens. This on a very fast, brand new quad core machine running 64-bit W7.
I just put them back and all is well again. YMMV. - subtheorist, on 11/10/2009, -0/+2I was actually just looking at FF add-ons before this. Weird.
- DaviDTC, on 11/10/2009, -1/+3I did those and it slowed down every page by multiple factors. Restarted everything and it was still slow. Changed them back to default and back to the normal speed as soon as I changed them back.
- betona, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1Keywords in Bookmarks goes back to Netscape and is something I use many times throughout the day, and is something many are unaware of.
Just put in a one-word keyword for hyperlinks you use often (you have to select "more" when editing the bookmark to see it). From then on, type that word in the URL bar and hit enter. One example out of dozens: on my work machine I type "time" and it takes me directly into our project timesheet approval screen, which is a huge URL deep inside the application. - TheActivedigger, on 11/10/2009, -1/+2Wow, i would like the Speed Up Browsing setting , it is cool
- inagoodcause, on 11/10/2009, -1/+2Useful one. I knew very few of these tips.
- coopa, on 11/10/2009, -1/+2My home machine is having a hard time with firefox at the moment, but mostly when using Flash.
Even if i just watch a few youtube videos the memory usage skyrockets and i have to force quit to close. I've tried a full uninstall (deleting the local settings after uninstalling the program) but it keeps coming back.
Although i do restore my extensions and bookmarks from FEBE. - Genma, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1ff3.5 is pretty damn fast already, huge improvement from past versions in speed. it's even snappy on my n280 atom, only tweaks I really feel like I need are the stratini theme and maybe half a dozen extensions. one of which is febe, bookmark/profile/theme/extension backup that does way more than xmarks, using jar format so you can basically move anything in one profile to any other ff install within a few clicks.
- spatty, on 11/10/2009, -1/+2good old porn mode, Ctrl+Shift+P
- bacon_skoda, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1they didn't implement a DoS into FF did they?
- EAPubudu, on 11/25/2009, -0/+1Used firefox for about 4 years without knowing any of these...... poor me :D
- nashio, on 11/10/2009, -1/+2Firefox still leads the -serious browser features- category
- antdude, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1It will prompt to print though. :(
- inactive, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1I made these changes and it slowed down browsing to an unusable level. Now I have to put the defaults back. Using Chrome at the moment...
- MMusick, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1I have a question. Since updating to the latest version of Firefox I've had troubles with changing tabs and accidentally "pulling" a tab and making it open in a completely new window. Anyone know how to undo this?
- petala, on 11/10/2009, -3/+2Install this chromedit plus add-on http://webdesigns.ms11.net/chromeditp.html , easy editing scripts no need messing around in about:config default value.
