- mklopez, on 11/11/2009, -3/+34Why? is not like each page is a single paragraph and a "next" button. Those are eight long pages of good tips. If you want all in a single page, hit the "print" link.
- chessoriginal, on 11/12/2009, -0/+28-it leaves a very minute footprint
-it isn't a memory hog
-it barely takes up any CPU
-it is very customizable, thus can reach high speeds
-it has forced encryption
-it is just awesome
-supports DHT and other features
and much more - one1plus1one, on 11/12/2009, -0/+20You're stereotyping all bit-torrent users as "cheap bastards". But that's not an accurate portrait of who bit-torrent users are.
I use bit-torrent a lot, but I also pay for movies (a lot!).
I spend 50 bucks per weekend, every weekend going to the movie theater. That's 200 per month. My girlfriend and I love movies, and the whole movie-theater experience, and more importantly: there have been some pretty damned good movies lately in the theater, making it worth actually going.
(That 50 per week includes my girlfriend's ticket, my ticket, popcorn, and drinks. Or sometimes we forgo the popcorn thing and just go to 2 movies instead.)
We also purchase lots of music each month, for $1 per song, off I-tunes.
Added to that, we rent lots of movies. We also frequently purchase our favorite movies on actual DVD, especially TV series...
And yes, sometimes we download off bit-torrent (if we missed a TV-show, or if there's a song I might want to here once or twice, or I can't find anywhere else).
So as someone who probably spends close to $300 to $400 per month in entertainment, easily (and probably more) your argument falls on deaf ears with me.
I'd say hollywood and the music industry are getting a nice share of my monthly income. I'm not shedding any tears for the Hollywood and music exec's when I'm spending that much money per month -- and I know many other people who are the same. - Jimmylecroy21, on 11/12/2009, -3/+22Long live TPB :(
- Corinthos, on 11/12/2009, -0/+10Demonoid web layout was great along with the comment system. I never once downloaded something there that wasn't what I thought it was or bad quality. Sure my private trackers are great for new releases but my request would get answered quicker on demonoids forums plus they were great for comic downloads.
- nmffffd9, on 11/11/2009, -1/+10Good stuff! Managing torrents remotely is always helpful.
- mklopez, on 11/11/2009, -1/+10True, that "print" link that you can see in many websites should be named "all in one page with little formatting". I like to use those when I'm accessing a site from my phone (and the site is not enabled for mobile browsing)
- StevieJanowski, on 11/11/2009, -0/+8I have my home computer downloading stuff all the time so much easier to manage remotely and not kill bandwidth at work

- mkriss5681, on 11/12/2009, -0/+6Peerblock. They took the PG open source code and updated for Vista/7 x86/x64. It works great.

- jrm125, on 11/12/2009, -2/+7Good set of tips. I'm betting the majority of users can take something away from this.
- scarlettletter, on 11/11/2009, -2/+7I guess I better learn how to use bitTorrent first!
- jud420, on 11/12/2009, -3/+8What?

Circumvention of ISP throttle through SSH - jud420, on 11/12/2009, -0/+4The demonoid tracker is back up.. patience grasshopper.
- hugeposuer, on 11/27/2009, -0/+3Not only what chessoriginal said, but most trackers do not allow Bitlord due to what "they" call "selfish behavior". Also, not only does utorrent have forced encryption-- it has encryption. Period.
I used Bitlord wayyy back right after I stopped using Shareaza and I thought it was the best. I tried uTorrent and didn't like it at all, so I stuck with Bitlord. After Bitlord got banned from several sites I use, I tried uTorrent again and loved it. I'd never go back and I think it's every bit worth trying out.
/lifestory - jud420, on 11/12/2009, -1/+4What.SEEDY people are burying my first comment? They DONT get it.
- mheyk, on 11/12/2009, -1/+4Bring oink back
- seks03, on 11/12/2009, -0/+3anyone know of a good Peerguardian replacement for vista or Win7
- 1234brandon, on 11/12/2009, -0/+2That print link is awesome. Just goes to show that something you breeze past everyday can still surprise you. Sometimes I have to spend a lot of time on PCs with no internet access, so I'll just do a quick Ctrl + A and throw it into a word document. Now I only have to do it once instead of 8 times (citing this page as an example). Mklopez, consider yourself dugg my friend.
- explodingzebras, on 11/12/2009, -0/+2Also try Deluge for Linux and Mac, it has a webUI too
- superrandomguy, on 11/12/2009, -0/+2i could have sworn this was captain planet....

- OasisR123, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1never heard before about the win xp TCP connections limit to 10
- franksands, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1It's true, untill Vista SP2
- mogebier, on 11/12/2009, -3/+4Why does everyone love utorrent so much?
I have been using BitLord for years. Is utorrent better, and why?
Just wondering. - Atario, on 11/30/2009, -0/+1"...grab hold of the reigns..."? Really? Not "reins"? Ok then...
- IHaveIssues, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1In creating a tracker they have thepiratebay there, isn't that old news? What *should* go in the "trackers" field?
- Joeymad, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1rTorrent > Others (for linux)

The comment was bound to be posted eventually, thought i'd just get it over with. - PhoenixReborn, on 12/01/2009, -0/+1Heck I still use The Pirate Bay. Never had a bad experience even though it's a public tracker.
- OasisR123, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1hehe I remember a long while ago, I was one of the first ones to have internet from my high school, and ended-up printing a few pictures from playboy for some friends...
- vaderson, on 11/16/2009, -0/+1Great tips there. Some cool stuff for the uninitiated.
- JCH897, on 11/25/2009, -0/+1Gotta love eztv RSS feeds and the WebUI in uTorrent.
