- fishrjv, on 09/16/2008, -1/+44No Firebug/Web Developer???
- glueandglitter, on 09/15/2008, -3/+17Ooh nice! I especially like the update to Colorzilla.
- moorehouse, on 09/16/2008, -1/+11They left out Firebug. It is probably the best FF app out there for web developers.
- GetItBuilt, on 09/15/2008, -2/+12I use a lot of these, but there are some that look like I need to add. Nice Digg.
Nuff Said. - TJMcWhiskers, on 09/16/2008, -0/+6How can you complain about someones writing when you think "paid" is spelled "payed?"
Must be embarrassing.. - inactive, on 09/16/2008, -1/+7unless of course you don't freelance...
- halftank, on 09/15/2008, -4/+10well worth a digg
- erhanaltay, on 09/16/2008, -4/+9How is this worth a digg? Did any of READ the article? It was obviously written by some hungry Chinese or Indian being payed $5 per 500 word article, the grammar is HORRID! Take a look:
"As we all know that Firefox is a fastest growing popular web browser. There are lots of ease provided by the firefox and this is the main reason for its popularity"
This is a spam article, pure and simple. Buried. - Ausome1, on 09/16/2008, -1/+5Left off Web Developer toolbar and Firebug. 2 very excellent extensions for web developers.
- inactive, on 09/16/2008, -0/+4buried for yet another useless firefox add-on submission. seriously, if you don't want to take the time submit good original articles, don't submit anything at all. the only reason i don't go through the upcoming section to digg stuff is because it's 1000's of ***** redundant waste of time articles like this.
- irishjays, on 09/15/2008, -4/+7Don't fire the fox...
- Sneezyx, on 09/16/2008, -1/+4"Designers' Lives," not "Designers Lives." It's called an apostrophe; learn how to use it. It's not rocket science.
- inactive, on 09/16/2008, -5/+8HOW MANY TIMES ARE WE GOING TO SEE "## BEST FIREFOX ADDONS TO MAKE WHATEVER LIFE EASIER" stop posting this ******(!@!#$&*(
- TJMcWhiskers, on 09/16/2008, -0/+3.... then don't click on it.
- bradleyland, on 09/16/2008, -0/+2Don't get too excited. As far as FTP apps go, FireFTP is less than overwhelming, especially when other OSS products like Filezilla work so well and so much faster.
- td001, on 09/16/2008, -0/+2The lack of Firebug is unforgivable.. probably THE most useful web design Firefox addon out there.
- Sneezyx, on 09/16/2008, -0/+2I prefer ferret jesters; they're easier to see, and funnier too.
- friz, on 09/16/2008, -0/+2I wrote about a few more addons and one that he may not know of called SEO for Firefox. I also explained about Web Developer, but left out firebug.
http://www.optimizeyourweb.net/2008/09/15/top-fire ... - AndrewDB, on 09/16/2008, -0/+2Does Fireftp allow access to ANY FTP server?!
Wow.. thats.. really nice. There's an instant download for me and a digg for this article. - annjay, on 09/16/2008, -1/+3Yes, Colorzilla is really great add-on
- Narcowski, on 09/16/2008, -0/+2This IS a list of dev addons.
- error2k2, on 09/16/2008, -0/+2erm... do people here know that web designers and web developers are two separate things? Though both require some knowledge of the other.
- edwartica, on 09/16/2008, -0/+2I'ld Bullock Sandra anytime, anywhere! Giggidy giggidy!
- inactive, on 09/16/2008, -0/+2They Forgot OLDBAR
- dshPls, on 09/16/2008, -0/+2Too obvious.
- AndrewDB, on 09/16/2008, -0/+2All I need it to do is upload things like JPGs and Gifs to my site on a whim when I'm browsing the web. It'll make that a whole lot easier.
- palmer, on 09/16/2008, -1/+3And there's this gem: "and have those choices be persisted for all pages"
Be persisted? How about "and have those choices persist"? - dshPls, on 09/16/2008, -1/+3If you're a "web designer" these days then most of your work probably comes from Craigslist and you have $120 in your bank account... and you give handjobs out for food money when you're not creating "graphix."
Being a web designer who only does graphics is dead, now days you need to know a lot more than just Photoshop. - dshPls, on 09/16/2008, -0/+2And what do you use to test your code with?
- theOster, on 09/16/2008, -1/+2lol
- xptweakerntn, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1Shoot! The only one I was interested in (because I either already use, or use a replacement for all the others) was Fireshot. Sadly, it isn't available for Linux. I would have thought it would have been easier to build for Linux that Windows, but that is just me.
- svenjick, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1I was about to digg them down because of lacking Firebug. But I must say that IE Tab looks sweet. All the rest is redundant. Firebug & maybe IE Tab.
- inactive, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1Which in my opinion is a tragedy. There are alot of great coders who may be able to make a fast and functional page but it looks like ***** or is just sterile with generic bland gradient background and shiny buttons.
Why is there no respect for REAL designers anymore? I actually had a web developer co-worker today walk all the way across the office just to ask me to photoshop a word out of a button. All the ***** clients and design houses want me to know CSS and Javascript yet they never ask web programmers to know photoshop? - KayinAngel, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1tweaking html/css and seeing the outcome in real time with Firebug alone has saved me probably hundreds of hours since i've started using it.
- lysdexic, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1It was actually kind of nice to see a "must have addons for developers" list that didn't include them. I think most of us know about Firebug & Web Developer by now, whereas I'd only heard of a few of these.
- zdislaw, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1Because if they had included those two, they could have eliminated half the remaining list as redundant and 13 is such a cool number.
- lapubell, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1i use webdeveloper all the time as well, but the article was more for designers, not coders.
although, they are becoming more synonymous, each day with websites... - NtHammer, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1ya i use web developer and firebug ALL of the time, they are the best.
nonetheless these in the article are still good picks, i havent tried a few of them - dgtljunglist, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1Link checker looks neat, but I can replace almost all of these with just Firebug... (heart Firebug)
- samimy, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1it is cool, i am a designer and this is really helpful.
- sloppychris, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1All the more reason to go through the upcoming section. Doing so keeps poor quality articles from hitting the front page.
- edwartica, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1Germans love David Hasselhoff!
- inactive, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1Since when did web developers start becoming "designers"
If you strictly do code and don't literally design something, i.e come up with a creative layout in photoshop, do a flash animation, whatever , you are not a designer, you're a programmer. - zantos420, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1seriously; i hate the look of the 'smart bar'
- Smuikas, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1It's too bad a lot of these are encompassed in other plugins. The web developer toolbar handles validation, element inspection, ruler, etc. Firebug encompasses http header inspection, javascript debugging, and more in-depth element inspection.
The truly useful extensions:
Firebug (DOM inspection, javascript debugging)
Colorzilla (see article)
Web Developer Toolbar (Ruler, element inspection, layout view [shows greyscale backgrounds on elements to show layering], css and html validation, HTTP headers)
Tamperdata (more in-depth http inspection)
Why use an ftp client in firefox? I just mount an ftp site on my desktop and use my filesystem to browse it. It's pretty easy to do in both linux and apple. - ElMoselYEE, on 09/18/2008, -0/+1"Being a web designer who only does graphics is dead, now days you need to know a lot more than just Illustrator."
fixed - Narcowski, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1So you (basically) give full co-ownership of your site to Google?
- dtfinch, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1PageDiff is a neat tool for seeing the line by line differences between two pages.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/427 ...
Still looking for an opportunity to use it, but it's neat. - MOJIRA, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1Maybe, but this article informed me of several extensions that look useful, soo... isn't that the point of digg?
