Eh... I'm good, thanks.
- mesarah, on 11/17/2008, -4/+15Magento is one of the great open-source product. Overall its very useful list.
- parkerjason, on 11/17/2008, -2/+11Nice list of applications but These applications have a long way to go before they replace commercial applications in their catagory
- domness, on 11/17/2008, -0/+9404 Error - The Digg Effect.
- 0tis, on 11/17/2008, -1/+1012) PointlessMX Pro3 - Creates lists of apps nobody cares about, written in terrible English.
- DirtyCash, on 11/17/2008, -1/+9I'm just surprised that this isn't a list of obvious apps like Firefox and Amarok.
- jrackow, on 11/17/2008, -1/+7Buried. Because if the link does not work, it's a waste of a lot of diggers time. So much info on the webs to browse.
- cheaptricks, on 11/17/2008, -1/+6this went down at 404 diggs
- davidlatache, on 11/17/2008, -0/+5I did not know about vMukti as an open-source solution for VoIP
- jinky32, on 11/17/2008, -5/+9A great list - open source is definitely the way to go.
- Herolint, on 11/17/2008, -0/+4I've never heard of Concrete 5, but their demo site leaves a lot to be desired. I'm sure it is simply designed poorly, with menus overrunning their bounds and colors with insufficient contrast, and is not an accurate reflection of Concrete 5's capabilities, but if you're going to do a demo site, you really should make it look as nice as possible.
- TomOwens, on 11/17/2008, -0/+4Same...even duggmirror.com goes to the same ad.
- mesarah, on 11/17/2008, -0/+4But they have potential to replace commercial apps. These really are the cost effective and reliable solutions.
- lofispy, on 11/17/2008, -1/+4404 not found
- domness, on 11/17/2008, -0/+3Are you talking to yourself? Or to me?
- Grazfather, on 11/17/2008, -1/+4and... DOWN
- spenner, on 11/17/2008, -0/+2NOT really a good advert for open source IMO. A lot of these sum up the bad things about it, i.e, demos that do not work, all in German, not free....and the link to 11 Useful Open-Source Apps You Should Know About did not work which annoyed me
- nourayehia, on 11/17/2008, -5/+7Open source apps is certainly expanding to new horizons!
- TomOwens, on 11/17/2008, -0/+2Now it's a 404 on the page and their homepage is a blank page...this kinda sucks. I wanted to read the list.
- oxthemoron, on 11/17/2008, -0/+2It's still interesting that it went down at 404 diggs.
- inactive, on 11/17/2008, -0/+2"Community" open source is the new Shareware
- zip000, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1I'm actually looking for something like "Group-Office" but it doesn't seem to be actually free. It looks like it is open source, but the "professional" version appears to require payments.
I'm always reluctant to use software that may be open source in only a crippled way. Does anyone have any experience working with this? - WoollyMittens, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1That depends on what the price of the commercial product is.
- jamesmcm, on 11/17/2008, -3/+4For those who don't understand why you should use Free Software please read:
http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/fsfs/rms-essays.pdf - pentium42006, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1Finally, an open-source software list without the standards. (Wordpress, Firefox, etc.)
- inactive, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1But companies that push their crippled 'community' version as a way to get people to buy the full version should be killed with fire. That goes totally against the principals of open source software.
'community' version open source is the new shareware... and its deceptive marketing too. - johnnysaucepn, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1No, Skype's proprietary protocol is just known as the Skype protocol. VoIP is Voice over IP, a generic term for any means of making voice calls via the internet.
- taosk8r, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1Links?
- NJank, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1ok, here's the request for the short list... anyone?
- oxthemoron, on 11/17/2008, -1/+2Mirror?
- 0tis, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1OK thanks for clearing that up with me :)
- adammharvey, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1dont worry its not worth the time.
- JQP123, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1The "open source" moniker is in danger of becoming a euphemism for "demo" since a watered down, feature limited version is the only thing "open source" about some of these.
- nmalcolm, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1Concrete5 looks pretty, but looks aren't everything. I don't think I'll be switching to it from CMS Made Simple any time soon
- talonstriker, on 11/17/2008, -1/+0Kaltura is a really good app. But I don't see much use for it in the professional world. It's video editor is nice for video hosting sites like youtube and such, but other than that I can't see what it could be used for.

If I'd known it was a list of "boring middle management tediousness", I'd have waited until I was at work to read it. - jamiecrager, on 06/10/2009, -0/+0This is a very average list, much better tools out there.

Aside from the poor English... does anyone know what a 'mashable PBX' is? It sounds delicious but I need to know if it can help me get things done too.
Anything that's not Skype has to be good, right? Although it's probably not technically VOIP as I think that's Skype's proprietary protocol? - frequentFlyer, on 11/17/2008, -2/+0Sharepoint is not open, but is the best free software you can deploy in a small/medium office. Don't be a hater, you know it's true.
