- Garofoli, on 01/18/2009, -4/+59"If, for instance, you've been looking for a present for someone, it could spoil the surprise."
... Yeah, don't want people to see the 'presents' I've been looking at... - netneutrality, on 01/18/2009, -6/+47"Google's Chrome browser is fast becoming the geeks' choice"
Yet Firefox out-numbers it 21 to 1 and is still growing faster.
"Not lacking essential functionality"
What about AdBlock and other extremely popular plugins?
Buried as inaccurate. - slayerxyos, on 01/18/2009, -4/+28"Google's Chrome browser is fast becoming the geeks' choice"
Buried as inaccurate. - flarn2006, on 01/18/2009, -12/+31Firefox is still the best!
- alanocu, on 01/18/2009, -6/+23This is very helpful. Was trying to figure out how to change Chrome to run in a single process -- to save on memory and CPU drag (on my crappy PC), so this was exactly what was needed.
- vtbarrera, on 02/03/2009, -3/+18I found the Stumble Upon tip was the most useful for me, since that was really the only reason I still use Firefox at all.
- FearlessFreep, on 01/18/2009, -2/+17a windows only browser cannot be "geek's choice"
- threat42, on 01/18/2009, -1/+14You could list 10 ***** hacks on ONE page, you pieces of *****.
Honestly. A 10-part list on 3 pages? Makes me glad I'm blocking all of your ads.

"For a bit of fun, try entering 'about:internets' and Chrome will run the Pipes screensaver inside itself. (If you're wondering what that's all about, it's a satirical reference to US Senator Ted Stevens' description of the internet as "a series of tubes".)" - EyeBaller1, on 01/18/2009, -1/+11From 2:
"You could temporarily switch to Incognito mode to ensure that no search data is recorded, but if you forget, you have the same problem."
So I might forget to open in incognito mode, but I'm gonna remember to download the backup utility, install it, run a backup at the right time, browse, close browser, restore backup (hopefully to the right profile and then delete the backup. Right... - frumpsnake, on 01/18/2009, -1/+11Change Chrome's process model to that of other browsers? Non-browser specific javascript injection? about: pages? StumbleUpon and Youtube? Lame.
- NathanielJ, on 01/18/2009, -2/+11Would have been a better list if they didn't include the javascript injection tips that apply to *any* browser.
- shortsellit, on 01/18/2009, -1/+9x2
Chrome is a great browser. - Conwaysb0718, on 01/18/2009, -1/+9whaaa?
- gyberedeemer, on 01/19/2009, -0/+5You must be pretty disappointed now.
- inactive, on 01/19/2009, -1/+6This is the same Chrome that doesn't block ads, right? I fired chrome up, yep it's really fast, congrats on that, but I have to look at ads while I'm being all super lean and fast. Any browser that can't block ads gets an F for FAIL. When the ads are gone, I'll try it again.
oh, and these aren't hacks, and most of them are browser-independent tips. - inquebiss, on 01/18/2009, -1/+6Chrome's incognito feature is great for surfing youporn and not having your wife find out without having to "delete temporary internet files"
- ThirdPrize, on 01/19/2009, -0/+4Call me when it's finished.
- specter19, on 01/18/2009, -10/+14I've been hooked on chrome for a while now. Firefox seems so giant and bulky now....
- Wisgary, on 01/19/2009, -2/+6Tip #11: type www.getfirefox.com on the address bar.
- NathanielJ, on 01/18/2009, -1/+5I haven't had Flash crash in Chrome since beta 0.4.
- CarzorStelatis, on 01/19/2009, -0/+3' Not lacking essential functionality'
What is this, 1995? Ad blocking is essential functionality. - kjleftin, on 01/18/2009, -2/+5#1 chrome feature: "about:internets"
- MrViklund, on 01/19/2009, -0/+3Like not installing the crap?
- thesonofdarwin, on 01/18/2009, -2/+5At least when something like that crashes Chrome it doesn't shut the entire program down. It just disables it and you don't lose everything you had open.
- PeachesTheCow, on 01/18/2009, -2/+5Excellent stuff - now if only you could Ctrl-F search inside web forms then I'd be able use Chrome as my default. As it is now, if I'm editing something in a form I have to paste it into notepad, make my changes and paste back. not cool!
- Gankfest, on 01/19/2009, -1/+4a windows only browser cannot be "geek's choice"
QFT - inactive, on 01/18/2009, -2/+5How to block ads in Chrome. Takes about 30 seconds to set up, almost as simple as Adblock, works just as good: http://lifehacker.com/5046529/how-to-block-ads-in- ...
- shutz, on 01/19/2009, -0/+3What's the point of running Chrome in single-thread mode, again? Might as well run Firefox (with no plugins, if you want to keep it lean) instead. The only point of using Chrome right now IS that multithreaded functionality that lets each tab run independently. The slowdowns and stutters I keep getting in Firefox when I browse multiple pages at once are my only real annoyance with that browser, right now. If I were to run Chrome in single-process mode, I'd get the same stuttering problems, and I'd have to suffer a browser that doesn't have any of the extensions I use everyday.
- zeppo, on 01/19/2009, -0/+3Google is an advertising company. I would say there is very good chance they will block every attempt to remove ads from the web experience.
- Thousand, on 01/19/2009, -1/+4My exact thoughts. Because pressing a button is harder to remember to do than 3 paragraphs of instructions to trigger a program that has a non-trivial wait time. FFS.
Edit: Just finished the article. Wtf. Number 10 is not a reason, at all. What a retarded waste of my time. Buried. - fflis, on 01/19/2009, -0/+3dancing images doesnt work for me... useless, but im still disapointed please help
- GoldYoshi, on 01/19/2009, -0/+2Why are we digging him down? This is exactly what I use, and it's just as good as adblock plus!
- ihatediggcom, on 01/19/2009, -0/+2Comments about how there are not actually hacks in 3,2,1,....
- aspirax, on 01/19/2009, -0/+2Still useless at some workplaces without NTLM.
- mortaneous, on 01/19/2009, -0/+2Ok, so you disabled it's tab isolation... so now if you crash one tab, the whole browser is crashed.
- ivanzhelev, on 01/19/2009, -0/+2Thanks for the nice article. I wonder when will we get mouse gestures and Foxmarks support for Chrome
- commentbot, on 01/19/2009, -0/+1You can always install AdSweep in Chrome.
- JeysKiran, on 07/30/2009, -0/+1 i like stumbleupon tip on your page
- johnwastaken, on 01/18/2009, -1/+2all i want is a proper zoom function akin to firefox.
- BLeAm, on 01/19/2009, -0/+1So, what is the advantage that Chrome provides you?
Clean UI or something else? Sorry to bother with your preference but I just wonder why Chrome is waving us still, I personally have no reason to use Chrome at all. - spleeyah, on 01/19/2009, -2/+3Hahaha go to "about:internets"
- thunderclap, on 01/19/2009, -1/+2something that you obviously polish way too much.
- springo, on 01/19/2009, -1/+2Any hacks to block ads... or else no go for Chrome.
- RedSaint, on 01/19/2009, -0/+1Definetely more epic than about:robots, that's for sure. And it's not a big truck if you were wondering.
- 2of8, on 01/19/2009, -0/+1Doesn't work for me? :S
- nevinl, on 01/19/2009, -0/+1I love chrome, use is primarily, but I'm still waiting for google bookmarks syncing and a better way to install chrome behind a firewall
- shodanx, on 01/18/2009, -1/+1I just installed it first just to try that out
