  • a2fan, on 02/20/2009, -1/+9I can't be too critical of the goalie ... the opposing forward was well ahead of the kick and she was concerned the forward would get to the ball first and drive it in. She was ready to check the forward but the ball took a lucky bounce over her head and she was caught over-committed and unable to compensate outside the goal. Technically, she tried to do the right thing.

    Happened last year, and that was Danny Cipero's first MLS game after the previous NY goalkeeper was suspended for taking "performance supplements"

    Based on the center field circle having a 10 yd. radius, their field is 120 yards long and 80 yards wide. If you look at where the kick is taken, it's about 10 yards outside the penalty area. That's 28 yards from the goal line and 92 yards from the far goal line. I reckon 90 yards is a pretty good estimate.
