NEW TYPE OF pr0n - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+25i used to ref little kids soccer. some of those parents just get outta control i had to kick a few out before lmao
- u8myfoood, on 10/10/2007, -1/+20soccer moms are dangerous these days, considering they have switched from minivans to GIGANTIC SUVs that can easily with stand hitting a brick wall. Not something you wanna mess with. =T
- dynatos, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15I was once also a youth soccer official and experienced the wrath of soccer moms and dads. Parents seriously need to chill out about a YOUTH SOCCER GAME, they act as if their sons and daughters are playing for the world cup. Once I called offsides on a kid who scored and his father stalked me for the rest of the game. Funny thing is that half the time their kids care less about the game than their parents.
- Waskonator, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12NO! You go to hell!!! And on the way get me a juice box!
- Impact0115, on 10/10/2007, -3/+15Oh man, EXACTLY like that South Park little league baseball episode, except for soccer.
- diecastbeatdown, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10i coached a U7 team and I had never witnessed such aggression from the "supporters" - of course these are not really fans of the game or team by any means but rather crazed parents and family members yelling at their children with hopes and aspirations far beyond anything the child could ever hope to achieve in the 20-40 minutes of a game. get a ***** clue people.
- korupture, on 10/10/2007, -7/+16digg me down!
- vs292, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9No. I don't take orders. I want things done MY way, sort of like these bitchy soccer moms.
- compgeek, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7good lord some people just can't take it there kid isn't going to be the next ronaldo or understand that it's not world cup (and even if it were it's still unwarranted). I hope the parents involved think having a criminal record and being an embarrassment to there son's soccer team was worth what they did. a friend of mine umpires little leage and it's the same coaches and parents get heated. I myself have umpired in his place (I had to go over a rulebook for a week solid cause he was going on vacation and asked me to fill in never having done it before but it seemed like a fun idea) let me tell you parents are nuts. I had a coach a father and a mother all screaming in my face. I ejected them instantly for that action and had to have the father arrested after uttering a death threat towards me. people just can't take it that their kids are not superstars and probably never will be.
- steal_apps01, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7wow, it's pretty sad when a 14 year old girl, probably volunteering, gets hurt and by people about three times her age.
- Hillsfar, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I wonder how much of this is because people feel so entitled these days. They were brought up to think they were entitled to anything they wanted, and it doesn't matter what they have to do to hurt other people to get what they want.
- Tommy3000, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Soccer milfs gone wild
- crossmr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4or like any of the other hundreds of incidents of this which occurred in minor sports before southpark made that episode...
- willow0285, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Some parents must have failed dreams of being soccer stars. It's a kids game! Your kid is going to be WAY more messed up from seeing you freak out at a 14-yo girl for ref-ing a soccer game than from having a "faulty call" on them.
- blaxbb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4once i was coaching a 3rd and 4th grade basketball game and I almost had to throw a parent and a coach out for going bob knight on me
- flamehawk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4This might not be the complete story. A fellow poster on the Red Patch Boys - Toronto FC forum posted this -
"Hey guys slow down a bit....
I was there and it went down nothing like how it was reported.
The parent was concerned about the ref not dealing with some really harsh fouls - 5 kids carried off in the second half of an U8 game...
The situation was just handbags at 10 paces until the cop jumped in. He was a coach on another team and ran across the field to intervene. His approach was aggressive and highly innapropriate.
The scene nearly escalated into a riot. Other parents were *very* unhappy with this cop... 4 cop cars were called... "
"When a cop yells at someone who has lived in Canada for most of his life and holds a senior role with a prestigious institution "So can you even speak English?" that sounds racist too.
I was standing right there and calming people down. I walked away from the confrontation deeply sadened by the situation and considering if Canada is a place where I want to raise my kids...
Just because it says something in the Toronto Star doesn't make it true.
For the record I'm a short middle class fat white guy who was completely shocked by the behavior of this person. This is certainly not the easy way out for me...." - Ladymongoose, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4If these parents exhbit this type of behavior in front of strangers, think what that child's home life must be like. They sound like the kind of parents who would terrify their kids in winning "or else".
- marcee, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6The only way I see to solve this is for the kid to go to his father (mother) office, spend an hour looking at him (her) "working" shouting "Go, Daddy (Mommy), go!!ª at random intervals and at the end of the day go to the boss and yell at him: "Why the ***** don´t you give my father (mother) a raise, you moronic *****!!! How can you say that he was looking at male escort sites at work!? Don´t you have eyes in your ***** head, *****??"
- daGUY, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4This just further proves my theory...people are dumb.
- Firehed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3The only way you can win a game of chicken with an 18-wheeler is if you're driving a tank. He didn't say that SUVs were indestructible, just that they'll flatten your Prius along with anyone in it.
- neur0mancer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Unfortunately, it's fairly common. I'm one of the few adult refs in our league - a significant majority of our volunteer staff is between ages 12 and 18. Sure, us adult refs get a lot of smack talk from the occasional coach or parent, but as adults we have pretty thick skins. What saddens me is seeing that level of abuse directed at a kid, who is already intimidated by the fact that the individual(s) shouting at them are 20-40 years older than them.
Most of these kids are volunteering to do this because we can't get enough adults to step up and help. What I've found to work best is to calmly explain to the adult that these kids are volunteering their time... and, oh, by the way, we're having a ref training class next week and since they think our referee skills are lacking, we'd be glad to have them drop by and show us how its done... ;-) - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Actually most of these things will need thousands of dollars of body work if they hit a brick wall at 5mph. But still, they will make short work of a ref or someone standing in between the soccer mom and the Starbucks drive through.
- Bmulley, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5My god, you're right. Fox News was right!? DAMN THAT MISTER ROGERS!
- CZzyzx41, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3If you think soccer is the most violent sport then YOU my friend are obviously ignorant of Austrailian Rules Football, Rugby...hell even Basketball is more violent. Hell in hockey they skate on BLADES. A goalie once got slit in the throat.
As for the fans have you even watched a match in the last 15 years? Riots happen once a year? This isn't the 80s. Even if that were true, there's over 125 nations that play soccer. If there's only one riot a year that's a pretty decent percentage compared to the carnage I see in the parking lot of NFL games every year.
Lastly Beckham is a lazy tard? If you mean lazy as in playing for Real Madrid and playing out his contract, helping them win La Liga then yeah...I guess that's lazy. Hell, I'd be proud to be lazy if that were lazy.
Next time you want to hate on soccer, at least come in with a single decent argument. - ChileanGoD, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Would you look at that... an Ontario police officer punched and there were no electric tasing, pepper spray or clubbing for the aggressor. pffff..
- FZero68, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2hahaha im not racist im just an ***** looking for cheap laughs, and it got a rise out of many so I win.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I'm sorry I thought this was America
- haydesigner, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Get a life, you ***** racist.
- datastorageguy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I wish parents took their child's schoolwork as seriously as they do their soccer games.
- mabhatter, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The Canadians will still blame us for exporting our values... maybe they'll invade!
- phairphair, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Based on how I've seen cops behave in the past, both on and off duty, this sounds more like the truth.
- haydesigner, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Okay, have it your way... ignorant racist *****.
I guess everybody needs something to be proud of. - s1mph0ny, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3that's just what I was thinking about.
They even brought in Kyle's cousin Kyle because he was such a loser. - CZzyzx41, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3No. Soccer kicks ass and ***** retards I believe can be deemed as unconsensual sex, therefore rape and therefore illegal. So withears, STOP ***** RETARDS. The mentally challenged need love, not decades more of therapy.
- dawesdust12, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Bah, Thank god no hockey games I've ever officiated have gotten this bad. Other than some 14 year-old girl punching my linesman... Girls are the ***** worst for bitching in sports, becuase they don't just outright fight, they are too subtle and haffto manipulate everyone, and instaed of clearing the puck up the middle, just shoot it at the ref...
- nogami, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1When this happens, the parents and their kids need to get a lifetime ban from the league. Although it sucks for the kid, it's probably necessary to educate the parents.
- haydesigner, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2You can go join Grego123 by getting a life, you ***** racist
- DreamVsPs2, on 10/10/2007, -4/+5No video :(
- nanboya, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I think you can safely say "Sandra Gutierrez, loser for a day"...
- DoubleV, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I bet you Jack Thompson would accuse this behavior from videogames
- gforb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Heh heh heh, two in one week, we're becoming a world class city, if that's something to aspire to.
I have to go to Tore-ron-Toe to attend a mini-league mini-soccer mini-riot.
It's Turronno eh you basturd! Start layin on de beats on you bu ' ' y!
They *had* to get this guy to report the big riot eh?
http://49th-parallel.blogspot.com/2007/07/soocer-riot-in-toronto.html - ez12a, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1i dont understand why you took my chicken comment seriously. Hitting a brick wall and being able to easily "withstand" it is pretty amazing.
- ronaldinho, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Often times the parents care more than the kids themselves. The kids are content to be simply on the field or on the team, while for parents it's a matter of pride, so they obviously would care more. "Ha! My kid's team and yours didn't!" But sometimes, they just need to chill out. The fun is worth as much as the winning, especially when it's just a kids' league.
The kid of the parents must be embarrassed. I certainly would be. - WiZZLa, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1How many Diana's do you know of? How many Diana, Princess of Wales do you know of?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Just a reminder: texting while driving makes you a retard!
- techmonkey4u, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1What, indeed... as in "what the *****?"
