- DermDoc, on 08/15/2008, -0/+11If you have a jet ski, you could watch the game for free
- inactive, on 08/14/2008, -0/+10Yup, and this is where they held the NDP, it was nice. Near the Benjamin Shears Bridge.
- sungoddess808, on 08/15/2008, -0/+10It makes me wonder what would happen to the field and stadium during a bad storm... Truly the most amazing one I've seen! =)
- thehypedzj, on 08/14/2008, -0/+10love it!
- jupaneanu, on 08/14/2008, -1/+8Playing football on water...what's next?
- meruru, on 08/15/2008, -1/+7When was the last time you heard an American football field referred to as a "pitch"?
- nbalci, on 08/15/2008, -1/+6I don't see any nets around the field. What happens if the ball gets out?
I guess the person who kicked it out will jump into the water and get it. - tekhna, on 08/15/2008, -0/+5Come on Final Fantasy X blitzball!
No wait, that kinda sucked.
Oh well. - inactive, on 08/15/2008, -1/+6Nothing would happen.. Singapore is located 1 degree above the equator - therefore no hurricanes/typhoons/cyclones etc.. the strongest winds you get are a result of a heavy rain cloud creating a down draft. The stadium is located inside the Marina Bay which is being converted into a reservoir.. meaning its like a little lake, so even if there was an earthquake with a tsunami chances are the waves would die out before it would hit the stadium. Sorry about destroying your dream.
- deputydogs, on 08/15/2008, -0/+5in mid-air. using hoverboots. please god, let it be airball.
- upick, on 08/15/2008, -0/+4This is a great idea since Singapore is so tiny! I've actually seen it.. I think they had fireworks here last time
- sirmcdiznuts, on 08/14/2008, -3/+7Its not a bad idea, but yet its not a good one either. A lot balls will hit the water for sure. Heck it can be even easier for the players just to dip in the water after the game is done.
- OverThere, on 08/15/2008, -2/+6pretty sure if they were smart enough to build a floating soccer pitch that they were also smart enough to put nets around it to stop the balls from going in the water.
- 420buddah, on 08/15/2008, -0/+4looks like football to me.
- annjay, on 08/15/2008, -0/+4Interesting idea
- total1337ness, on 08/15/2008, -0/+4Swimming on land.
- erichw1504, on 08/15/2008, -0/+4Next: Baseball in the sky
- noswar45, on 08/15/2008, -0/+4yeah, i was confused too. i thought american football would have a HUGE following in singapore. go figure.
- inactive, on 08/15/2008, -0/+4For those wondering. NDP = National Day Parade.
- mecharabbit, on 08/15/2008, -0/+4*novel, unless you mean that the football pitch is inexperienced.
- robbob, on 08/15/2008, -3/+6For all you Yanks, this is a soccer field
- Whitey07, on 08/16/2008, -0/+3I don't understand why.. but still cool non the less.
- mecharabbit, on 08/15/2008, -0/+3That's the part the article doesn't mention. The soccer match turns into a water polo match usually within the first 2 minutes.
- brettg102, on 08/15/2008, -0/+3But what about the kelp!?!?!?!?!?!? /environmentalist
- wealer, on 08/15/2008, -0/+3That's a good idea. Why not create some slips around it so fans can tailgate too?
- noswar45, on 08/15/2008, -0/+3could they have put the stands any further away?
- mecharabbit, on 08/15/2008, -0/+2I dunno, maybe playing cricket in oatmeal?
- frenzybuddy, on 08/15/2008, -0/+2shocking that dubai didn't come up with that first!!
yeah.. bring it on.. what's next?? - inactive, on 08/15/2008, -1/+3truly inspiring to think of what's next as we enter into the future, great news!
- rajulkabir, on 08/15/2008, -0/+2You can watch the game for free from the pedestrian walkway on the marina bridge right nearby.
- Anubis2051, on 08/15/2008, -0/+2they do that at at&t park in San Fran, and PNC in Pittsburgh all the time. whenever a ball goes into the water, you usually see people diving out of their boats after it!
- LongBong, on 08/15/2008, -0/+2but don't try toking up at any of those games.
- rajulkabir, on 08/15/2008, -0/+2Nobody in Dubai wants to be outdoors. If it's not the weather, it's the dust and pollution.
- jcsw, on 08/15/2008, -0/+2If you go to the nearby buildings, you can watch the game for free too.
- focalguy, on 08/16/2008, -0/+2Sorry to disappoint but you'll notice they haven't mentioned actually playing football (soccer) on the field. I was there this past April myself and I thought it was very cool until I was informed it's not actually being used for football. Floating platform is cool but it would be cooler if it were used for what it appears made for.
See if you can find any reference to a sporting event.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marina_Bay_Floating_S ... - vjk2005, on 08/15/2008, -0/+2Dubai seems to have had enough to do with water and is now getting things done in air. Check out this video of agassi playing tennis in a mid-air court in Dubai: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/396020/andre_agassi_ ...
sucks to be the ball-boy though.
more photos here: http://images.google.co.in/images?hl=en&client=fir ... - Anubis2051, on 08/15/2008, -0/+2sounds like wrigley
- make7upyours06, on 08/15/2008, -0/+2Monterrey, México is doing something similar.. but the stadium as a whole would be built atop a bridge... reason for this is because of lack of large amounts of lands for building. The stadium is supposed to be an architectual masterpiece. As far as this goes, seems kinda of dull.. can't do any profesional sports on that fútbol field. But it does bring up an intersting concept!
- zmanvii, on 08/15/2008, -1/+2Quidditch
- Sabin8, on 08/15/2008, -1/+2Floating American football stadium... I don't think it would be floating too long with all that weight.
- gettarat, on 11/24/2008, -0/+1truly inspiring to think of what's next as we enter into the future, great news!

http://premiershiphighlights.blogspot.com - BXRWXR, on 08/15/2008, -2/+2They should surround the pitch with sharks, electrify the ball, add a 3-point line, give the goalie a gun and require the players to be nude and the players to be female.
Now, that might make unarmoured wanker-ball a little bit more exciting than watching paint dry. Might. - Shilpan9166, on 08/15/2008, -4/+3This is a novice yet incredible idea to play football on water. I like it.
- bennovw, on 08/15/2008, -3/+2What's next? Open-Sea Olympics?
