- TheWestExit, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17I don't have abny doubt in Ronaldo's playing ability, I just don't like the kid. He tries to get away with too much stuff. He should just play the game how it's ment to be played.
- malfunktion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8hate the Portuguese? I've never done anything to you.
You're going to hate an entire race because you can't handle a loss at a football game?
Seriously, you need to stop playing pin the blame on the scapegoat and get on with it. Every tournament it's something . You lost, accept it, move on. - mike_p, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10"He tries to get away with too much stuff"
Who doesn't? This is football (soccer) we're talking about. These people are trained to make their falls looks so much worse than they are in order to get a call in their favor. It happened so much during the World Cup. - felyduw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7You hate the Portuguese? Because we sent you crying back home in 2000, 2004 and 2006? Is that it? Is it because you can't handle that your pseudo-wonderkid Rooney is more of a kickboxer than a footballer? You have much better players than him... and they don't see a red card every other game.
Let me tell you, I don't hate the english, I believe most of you are reasonable people. What I do hate is people like you who try and make something trivial - football in this case - important enough for you to hate. Enjoy the game as it is, if you dislike something, take it to FIFA and Blatter. - MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -3/+10I was born in Egypt but have lived all but 4 years of my life in the US and even I was angry at Ronaldo during the world cup because I'm a fan of England.
When he started getting booed during the cup I felt bad and forgave him in my own mind. Getting booed by 60k ppl could break a person, but Ronaldo has handled it well. - MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -1/+8Or just remove Soccer from your digg feed. (I'm assuming you just saw this on the homepage).
- callinthelaw69, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I would be shrugging anything off if I scored two goals in a game.
- Jetpac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@ Mike P
in all honesty no i wouldnt, and no i dont (i play centre forward club level)
i play honestly and as the game is ment to be played, if im fouled im fould, if i can carry on over the challenge i will try to.
this is why football has gone bad. it used to be a great sport and better to watch. now when you watch you feel like awarding olympic style points every time someone is tackled and goes down. - Ollin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Wayne Rooney is a hot head so anything would've made him gone off wether it was Ronaldo or any other player. At times he acts like an immature little kid, but then again he is still young.
- trypeewee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Seriously, how many portugueses do you know?
Go on, hate everybody you wish. Like who cares... Dumb ass! - peterbarbosa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@ felyduw - Well said! Very well said! England and Portugal played a terrific match up. Just the better team came out in the end.
- Jetpac, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7Again im another person who dislikes Ronaldo.
i dont doubt his skills but he is a pathetic player.
every time he is tackled he looks at the referree looking for a foul.
he is not sportsman like. again he should play the game as its mnt to be played.
and btw to callinthelaw69: its not exactly a massive achievement scoring 2 goals past Oxford. - coldfusion1970, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm glad Rivaldo got blasted for that ridiculous reaction.
His career (deservedly) really went downhill after that WC.
I think he now plays for a Greek team (Greece has one of the poorest leagues in European football). - quaternions, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I'm going to enjoy Ronaldo baiting this season... :)
- mike_p, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Look at my post above. Wouldn't you do the same thing to get an advantage if your opponents are doing the same? All is fair in this game. It's not like he's headbutting the guy in the chest.
- coldfusion1970, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why would we want him to go?
I only want us to sign another striker. - coldfusion1970, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not correct.
We (Enlgand) played the better football even with 10 men for a LONG part of the game, but we are just really poor at penalties in big competitions :-( - MetisAlfa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1so english of you to blame a whole country for something your little spoiled brat Rooney did... but I guess its really not about that, is it?... its all to do with being sent home from 3 major tournaments in the last 4 by Portugal, isn't it? i know, i understand... i just don;t go around hating all french people because of their football team (which I don't really like, of course, but I know how to tell the difference between football and life...).
- CZzyzx41, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah it's tough to beat a keeper who steps off the line before the kick. Whether that's Ricardo or Lehmann or anyone else who has gotten away with such criminality lately.
- sjalloul, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4You should've seen this match! I don't blame the guy.
- mikev, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I'd like to see him in the Olympics.
He'd be a great addition to Portugal's diving squad. - gelicia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2cristiano ronaldo is so dreamy ;)
- mike_p, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Haha... awarding olympic points =D ... good one...
But you're absolutely right, there's no reason to be dramatic. There comes a time where you have to draw the line. Otherwise, we'll get more scenes like Rivaldo (infamous for faking an injury to the face, corner kick area) and less football. I don't want football to turn into a ballet of actresses either... so we're on the same side. For those that haven't seen the ridiculous photo:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enWKPnPu77k - MetisAlfa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1oh, well, Ronald has just answered all his critics the best way he knows how: playing beautifull football, scoring goals, even against a whole stadium booing... if ManU fans still want him to go because something Rooney did, that's seriously there problem. Ronaldo wouldn't have any problems finding a team to play in - anywhere in Europe would welcome such a great player!!!
GOOO RONALDOOOO!!!! - MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -4/+4I agree, but I think it's just because he's a little immature in that department. Hopefully when he's a bit more seasoned (say the next world cup) he won't take so many dives. I'm sure by then his playing skill will have even improved more.
Funny how people named Ronaldo are such good players. Ronaldo of Brazil, Ronaldinho(real name is Ronaldo) and C. Ronaldo. - godfrey56, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Good on ya Ronaldo! ( http://www.4thegame.com/club/manchester-united-fc/player-profile/4021/cristianoronaldo.html ) Love these profile pics
- mafus07, on 03/31/2008, -0/+0cristiano ronaldo is a great player in the world. he good for man utd n portugal.
- tonydanza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You couldn't have expected to beat Portugal in PK's with Ricardo in net.
- superzorn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Quite doubtful. I was waiting for this for a very long time...
- snigacookie, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2There are lots of other players who do far worse in the world cup and don't get sent off for their actions. The refs just tried to make names for themselves. Comon' that ref retired right after that game anyways.
- gmillerd, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Crazy world cup action will not die.
- josegutz, on 10/12/2007, -10/+4"Ronaldo shrugs off Oxford taunts"
Saves his pented up anger for the Final World Cup game to Headbutt his opponents... - MaNiaC510, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1this is old.
- musters, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2I hate Ronaldo, and I hate the Portugese! They are not footbal players, they are actors!
A friend of mine used to say "No, no, this is not scuba, this is soccer". He was referring to diving, aka what Ronaldo does best. - thaonlyscarface, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Good, The English will get over it someday. Or not.
Anyone have any videos on the two goals? thanks in advance. - flamingmb, on 10/12/2007, -33/+2wish I cared.....
