- Chjoma10, on 11/18/2008, -14/+92He'd fill the top 7 spots for The Biggest Fag award
- TheMidnight, on 11/18/2008, -4/+51Does Kanye West play his theme music?
- damack, on 11/18/2008, -8/+49He was joking but I wonder how far it is from the truth considering his performance last season.
- darkchild82, on 11/18/2008, -4/+44He's cocky and has a big ego.. but you can't deny he's talented.
- funkymonkey01, on 11/18/2008, -9/+42I hate Ronaldo. Just thought I would mention it.
- ngb5012, on 11/18/2008, -6/+28i thought i smelled an onion. nope just an *****.
- banthis, on 11/18/2008, -0/+20He wasn't joking. Hes a cocky one.
- dieboldcracy, on 11/18/2008, -0/+19his talent at football is only surpassed by his talent for loving himself
- metapop, on 11/18/2008, -5/+22this just in: ronaldo is more arrogant than kanye west, and that's saying something.
- beachsouthpaw, on 11/18/2008, -2/+17Ronaldo, meet Kanye.
- lifeisgoooooood, on 11/18/2008, -3/+18Admittedly he does back his words up with performance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkTQDgO52n0&feature ...
- webborocks, on 11/18/2008, -3/+18You just have to look at him to see he absolutly loves himself.....
- Schmidtopolis, on 11/18/2008, -2/+14Dude.. Kanye is the voice of THIS generation...
Too bad he speaks in ALL CAPS, and no one is listening. - starskii, on 11/18/2008, -0/+12Sure, he said it as a 'joke', but would you hear other top sportsmen say that? Tiger Woods, Hamilton, Federer etc... saying they are the 1st, 2nd and 3rd best at their game?
Either way you look at it, it's a cocky statement/joke. - t3hmyth, on 11/18/2008, -19/+30Soccer Douchebag.
- kronix2, on 11/18/2008, -6/+17Considering he won the English Golden Boot, the European Golden Boot, the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award, the PFA+Barclays+Writers'+Fans' Player of the Year awards, scored 42 goals as a winger, was the top scorer in the Champions League, and won the Premier League and Champions League...
...all in just one season while carrying an ankle injury...
I think he's earned the right to be cocky. - Phoetality, on 11/18/2008, -3/+14FTA:
"I am the first, second and third best player in the world," Ronaldo joked. "But there are other good candidates, like Kaka, [Lionel] Messi and [Fernando] Torres."
Note the word JOKED people. Title misleading. - spaceshipsix, on 11/18/2008, -1/+10That's very often the case. You need to have a little arrogance/confidence to be good. I would hate to be his friend but I love watching him play.
- aralls, on 11/18/2008, -1/+10Please, get it right. He's a football douchebag.
- spaceshipsix, on 11/18/2008, -1/+10Yes there are plenty of respectable talents. But you so often see people at the very top of their game let it get to their head a little bit. I imagine it's very easy to get cocky when you're praised so often.
But he's an exceptional douche who would probably be a douche if he was a fat slob. - shauncorleone, on 11/18/2008, -0/+8Ronaldo added, "That, and I'm humble!"
- erkokite, on 11/18/2008, -1/+9Ronaldo was probably joking. I think Kanye West actually thinks he is as great as he says he is.
- gianttoolbox11, on 11/18/2008, -2/+9He can fill the top 100 places for world's best diver.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82ochcQ56Es - DeFex, on 11/18/2008, -1/+8his head certainly could.
- justintsmith, on 11/18/2008, -0/+7Who are the best 5 rappers of all time?
Dylan, dylan, ... dylan, dylan and dylan - DrVic, on 11/18/2008, -2/+9I like it when he and Rooney were feuding and Rooney said "Sure I'll bury the hatchet, right in the back of his skull".
- metapop, on 11/18/2008, -0/+6honestly, these football starlets come and go. the truth is that he has the *potential* to be the next best thing, but that doesn't always pan out. honestly, i think putting that sort of label on young kids does more harm than good. it really takes a patient club to develop talent and know when to put them on the big stage to help them succeed instead of putting them out early and wrecking their confidence.
- Phoetality, on 11/18/2008, -1/+7By some northwest group who also gave Manager of the Year to David Moyes.
Because obviously the player who got 42 goals in a season despite being a winger doesn't make an impact. And his manager who wins the EUROPEAN CUP, and back to back Premiership title is nowhere near as mid-table mediocre Moye's Everton.
Just ABU's I think. - inactive, on 11/18/2008, -0/+6i saw him sporting the popped collar sometimes, is that a coincidence?
- Stavrosian, on 11/18/2008, -3/+9Top 3 places for world's biggest ***** are pretty much locked down too.
- pgouy, on 11/18/2008, -0/+6He will be at the FIFA ceremony to deliver his award and - the moment they touch hands - the world will implode.
- Phoetality, on 11/18/2008, -1/+7You really have no understanding of the english top flight, do you...
- Cannonballkid, on 11/18/2008, -1/+6Torres!
- dimplemonkey, on 11/18/2008, -0/+5Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
- mikev2008, on 11/18/2008, -1/+6Cause Man UTD and the Premier League is a small pond? news to me.
- metapop, on 11/18/2008, -0/+4at least your name was appropriate.
- metapop, on 11/18/2008, -3/+7i don't, and i'm a spurs supporter. i never liked him, and the portugal/england WC match sealed his fate in my book.
- asskicker32, on 11/18/2008, -0/+4I read the title and thought it was a fat joke about former brazil striker Ronaldo...
- spaceshipsix, on 11/18/2008, -0/+4If you're the best player in the world you're automatically better than every rank below you.
So with his reasoning every ranking list should be an infinite list of the best thing. - CompanyCalls405, on 11/18/2008, -0/+4Extremely talented player but unfortunately he's a cheating scumbag.
- FlyCO, on 11/18/2008, -1/+5I'll just leave this here...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3H2I3CuZxnE - pgouy, on 11/18/2008, -0/+4Right now, Kaka is the best IMO.
- spaceshipsix, on 11/18/2008, -1/+5Clint Dempsey player on Saturday and he had a sweet left footed shot at goal.
How sad is it that I am proud of that. I root for any American players in the European leagues but unfortunately there aren't any superstars. - kronix2, on 11/18/2008, -1/+5It's because he has better, selfless players around him at Man Utd. Rooney and Tevez work tirelessly and constantly drop back, allowing Ronaldo to drift into a forward's position.
He has the freedom to do what he wants, because Man Utd are good enough defensively to allow that - they have statistically the best defence in England and Europe.
In the Portuguese team, he doesn't have the same freedom. - Areign, on 11/18/2008, -0/+3they do, and then real ruins them. saviola is another example
- kronix2, on 11/18/2008, -0/+3"They won a game this year against another team in red. How did that feel?"
That team in red ended up with the Premier League and Champions League at the end of the season. How did that feel? - flamesrule, on 11/18/2008, -0/+3While I don't doubt that being the best at something would make the average person arrogant, there is plenty of athletes who are better than him at what they do who aren't nearly as arrogant. Case in point: Roger Federer, Tiger Woods, Rafael Nadal, Peyton Manning and a host of others. Athletes who are truly great are often humbled by the history of their sport and those who made their sport what it is, not to mention who helped them along the way. Don't think that Roger Federer is going to be cocky when he is compared to Pete Sampras and Rod Laver despite that he is often told that he is better than both of them.
- Valisk61, on 11/18/2008, -1/+4***** isn't anywhere near strong enough.
The guy is an irritating *****. - writer0213, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3@adzmeister Agreed, he's awesome, but he still has a lot to prove. He didn't really show up at the Euro Cup, and hasn't impressed me lately.
