- martynda, on 05/13/2008, -2/+30As much as I hate Man U, they definitely deserved it and have shown themselves to be the best this year with the best players and teamwork. Congrats to them! Looking forward to May 21st vs Chelsea.
- misimiki, on 05/13/2008, -9/+33dugg down. this is two days old!!!
- Dillywin, on 05/13/2008, -2/+23The real news story is that a Story about soccer/futbol made it to the front page.
- TheDiceMan, on 05/13/2008, -3/+28Who seem to use the term 'football' to represent a sport where the ball isn't ball shaped and the players mostly uses their hands and not feet.
- jseres, on 05/13/2008, -2/+20Considering it is the most popular sport in the world... a lot of ***** people.
- dswissmiss, on 05/13/2008, -1/+20Moved to the States from Europe about 11 years ago and it took me till last year to figure out that Americans use the term "Football" because the ball is a foot long...go figure!
- d4ftpunk, on 05/13/2008, -0/+16Only about 6.3 billion people.....
- diecastbeatdown, on 05/13/2008, -0/+16yea it is old news but at least digg has a story on football.
Arsenal supporter here and I'm going to say that I want united to win the CL too, just because it is likely that ferg will quit over the summer on a high note. - odiseo42, on 05/13/2008, -2/+15This is WORLWIDE interest my friend :)
We all love football (what you may call "soccer") - FapCommander, on 05/13/2008, -0/+132 points, what are you talking about?
- Callik, on 05/13/2008, -1/+14In other news, who outside of America gives a flying ***** about American 'Football'?
- lysdexia, on 05/13/2008, -2/+13Congratulation to Manchester United. I'm not a supporter of the club as such, but hats off to the beautiful style of football they play - they are fantastic entertainment!
- TheDiceMan, on 05/13/2008, -2/+12A proportion of Digg users, perhaps?
- jseres, on 05/13/2008, -1/+12I'm sure your the kind of retard that think Baseball is more entertaining than soccer.
- estacado, on 05/13/2008, -4/+16Digg. Yesterday's news, today.
- kinggimped, on 05/13/2008, -0/+9Only 2 days behind, Digg... :)
Anyone who says Manchester United don't play beautiful football clearly either hasn't seen them play this season, or doesn't know what football is... some of Ronaldo and Rooney's goals this season have been epic. To have a team like they do more or less takes route 1 out of the game.
I'm fervently neutral (I'm a fan of good football), and even so, Manchester United are my team of choice to watch, simply due to the fact that you're pretty much guaranteed a high standard of footie - even if most of their first team players are being rested.
They've fully deserved to life the cup this season, and I'm very glad they pipped Chelski to the post on goal difference. - SirNoobius, on 05/13/2008, -0/+9when's a Chelsea game ever been exciting?
- peeinian, on 05/13/2008, -0/+9American Football should just be known as Throwball. It'll end all that confusion.
- Rawpulse, on 05/13/2008, -0/+11Barclay's Premier League.
- TheDiceMan, on 05/13/2008, -0/+8What the *****? Are you joking?
I suppose leatherball wouldn't have been catchy enough. - dillhole, on 05/13/2008, -1/+9You can't expect America to take part in something they're no good at.
- Rawpulse, on 05/13/2008, -0/+8Yeah, hopefully you'll win something next year..
- Phoetality, on 05/13/2008, -2/+11I think you'll find our sport was called football first.
- Beveridge89, on 05/13/2008, -0/+8***** it, this is about as relevant as a digg article will ever get. We're *****, but we're going to Europe! http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/sc ...
- gillstr, on 05/13/2008, -0/+7Well I don't like the Glazers and the former board members for the sole reason the massive debt which the club has been landed with. Manchester United used to be debt free now it's debt is at 60% of its valuation. Meaning more expensive tickets les money to buy players and lack of security for the future. Thats why I hate the Glazers
- lcmatt, on 05/13/2008, -1/+8F-O-O-T-B-A-L-L not soccer.
- michaeltime, on 05/13/2008, -2/+9U idiot. The sport of the world. The whole bloody world.
We tolerate your sports that are dressed up commercials, have some respect. - sagat, on 05/13/2008, -2/+9This just in, the cold war has ended!
- superkeer, on 05/13/2008, -0/+8Even as a lifelong Arsenal fan, I can't complain about this. This is the best I've seen Man U play since the treble season, and the fact that the young Gunners fell only four points short after what seemed like a two month period of collapse is still encouraging.
But it is really hard to put up with yet another Man U title... however deserved it is. - Phoetality, on 05/13/2008, -1/+8Just because Americans have the attention span of a gold-
- TIMEOUT -
...fish.
Seriously, a 1 hour game has to last 4 hours. What the heck is wrong with you people? - crazydonat30, on 05/13/2008, -0/+6your mother.
- None0fTheAbove, on 05/13/2008, -0/+6Stoke? lol, you have my sympathies dude....
- jseres, on 05/13/2008, -1/+7suck a dick
- manicleek, on 05/13/2008, -0/+6what difference does the number of points make if you still only have to score twice to get them.
2 goals is what you call 2 points in football
2 touchdowns is 12 points in American football
but obviously thats better cus its more points!! - ukblacknight, on 05/13/2008, -1/+7Instead of calling it American football, we should call it Foot-long-ball.
- peeinian, on 05/13/2008, -1/+7Yeah, you're right. Hooligans do occasionally beat up and murder opposing fans. But as I recall, fans of the NFL don't need to do this; they let the players do it for them.
- modsuperstar, on 05/13/2008, -0/+5And therein lies the ongoing problem with digg. The spammers have won, since they've had to put all these measures to keep them at bay, digg suffers because articles no longer make the frontpage 20 minutes after they're submitted. The immediacy that digg was once known for is dead.
- theheyes, on 05/13/2008, -1/+6NEMANJA, WOAH-OH,
NEMANJA, WOAH-OH,
HE COMES FROM SERBIA,
HE'LL F***IN' MURDER YA! - TheDiceMan, on 05/13/2008, -0/+5Really? Is that correct Phoetality? I'm not so sure - but would be humbly resigned if it were. Can yous trump 1409?
"King Henry IV of England also presented one of the earliest documented uses of the English word "football", in 1409, when he issued a proclamation forbidding the levying of money for "foteball". - phpchris, on 05/13/2008, -0/+5While I picked up on the Yahtzee quote. I still buried you for supporting Liverpool.
- geek_xyu, on 05/13/2008, -2/+8My baby takes the morning train. He works from 9 to 5 and then he takes another home again to find me... watching the Manchester United football team!
- synyster, on 05/13/2008, -0/+5what? he is using gmail custom time
- ChayD, on 05/13/2008, -0/+5Don't like us stinkin' foreigners using *your* site? Complain to the management, I'm sure they'd be happy to take a cut in their Ad revenue.
- EarlOfLade, on 05/13/2008, -2/+7Who cares about American Armpitoval?
- inactive, on 05/13/2008, -2/+7COME ON YOU REDS! ON TO MOSCOW FOR VICTORY! CHELSKI'S GOIN DOWN NEXT WEDNESDAY!
And if you scousers are scoring at home, that's 10 more Premier League Championship you don't have! - lennybird, on 05/13/2008, -2/+6I'm happy I can say I'm American AND love Soccer...
- nicc, on 05/13/2008, -0/+4United can play beautiful flowing football, but they can also sit back and soak up the opposing teams pressure (see the CL games against Roma and Barca). As an Arsenal supporter I think United is about the only other Premier League team that plays the beautiful game (though Newcastle under Keegan is starting to get back into this form)
