- virtualonliner, on 12/28/2008, -0/+34What? English Premier League on frontpage??? Dugg for "football".
- aethelberga, on 12/28/2008, -3/+17Really? Come on. If there was ever a player who failed to live up to expectations, it's Michael Owen. He's injured an awful lot.
- PullingTeeth, on 12/28/2008, -2/+15And Man City is poised for relegation...enjoy your second-tier football greedy footballers.
- UntouchableC, on 12/28/2008, -0/+11Sorry but Man City must be either desperate or just stupid.
They already have Caicedo, Robinho, Vassell, Benjani and that £20 mill waste called Jo in thier first team. All except Jo have proved their worth....
Unless they are trying to sabotage Newcastle/Blackburn into that relegation spot, or planning on offloading some quality strikers...I dont see why they need Micheal "Porcilin Doll" Owens AND Santa Cruz.
The only inspired name I see on that whole list in Wayne Bridge...Their whole back four are looking shaky this season under Hughes, this is cruicial. In the Premiership the 5 most important people on the pitch are your defenders and keeper. That should be top priority instead of Bellamy and co.
Also, even as an Arsenal fan, I find it amusing that while Man City could very well spend over £75/100 mill this seasoon and be relegation battlers...while the quality teams such as Aston Villa, Fullham, Everton are in the top flight with almost no big names and no money. - inactive, on 12/28/2008, -1/+8They should hire a proper manager instead
- NoozeHound, on 12/28/2008, -1/+8How can a Chelsea fan berate greedy footballers. Surely you jest sir.
- metapop, on 12/28/2008, -0/+7I hope he goes anywhere but Spurs. The last thing we need are more injury-prone players. (King, Woodgate, and potentially Bellamy, i'm looking at you)
- indubitably, on 12/28/2008, -3/+9whatever, newcastle is going down tomorrow(today) against liverpool. woot woot!
- ladbroke, on 12/28/2008, -9/+14Who the ***** are Man United?
- pazhood, on 12/28/2008, -0/+5He's still the 7th all-time top scorer in Premier League history.
- phreak79, on 12/28/2008, -0/+5It's official, Man City are becoming the new Newcastle, blowing vast sums on overpaid players and failing to forge any kind of team. Oh, and when it doesn't work they sack the manager and start all over again.
- SolidSnake24, on 12/28/2008, -0/+5Owen? I thought they were prepared to make bids for Ronaldo, Torres, Fabregas, Villa etc.
- NoozeHound, on 12/28/2008, -0/+4Wow! EPL frontpage! Dugg for proper football. Although it could be filed under world's richest club or mental business news.
- mrnobody546, on 12/28/2008, -4/+810 time Premier League Champions, 11 time FA Cup Champions, 3 time UEFA Champions League Winners, etc.
- mrnobody546, on 12/28/2008, -5/+8Build a bonfire, build a bonfire
Put the scousers on the top.
Put the City in the middle
And burn the ***** lot... - Stonekeeper, on 12/28/2008, -0/+3Yeah, it's a shame there aren't more americans in the sport. It would be awesome if football made more inroads in the US. I was also suprised at the quality of the commentators on the Fox soccer channel. They really know their stuff!
- asiarock, on 12/28/2008, -0/+3I've got nothing to add, I'm just really happy to see football on the frontpage :)
- Stonekeeper, on 12/28/2008, -0/+2To be fair, Hughes did great a great job at both Wales and Blackburn. Sometimes, the chemistry just doesn't work.
- UntouchableC, on 12/28/2008, -0/+2Owen has been to spain and back, liffed trophies and scored countless goals. But more importantly, bounced back from two serious, career ending injuries in a row and can still be considered for international duty.
His only problem is that he is injury prone from being pushed so hard from such a young age. - pault107, on 12/28/2008, -0/+25-1 o.O
- IHaveCrayons, on 12/28/2008, -0/+2They are definitely not desperate. They're just spending money willy-nilly because that's all they got. They offered blank check deals for a lot of top players and all were rejected. Ah well, sucks for them I'm an Arsenal fan too.
- diecastbeatdown, on 12/28/2008, -1/+3in what capacity? in the last ten years chelski won twice (both times under mourinho), we've won three time under wenger. know your history fool, before mourinho and romanonovich chels were a nothing club going nowhere.
- NoozeHound, on 12/28/2008, -0/+2Spot-on on the back four - don't we know it :-(
- inactive, on 12/28/2008, -0/+2They went to the source and got English commentators.
- techrevolution, on 12/28/2008, -0/+2Dudes, it is Manchester CITY we are talking about. (which is the richest club right now) Not Manchester UTD.
- coolcole93, on 12/28/2008, -1/+2You are a stupid, fat American.
- fabkebab, on 12/28/2008, -0/+1They will buy Defoe instead if they can
- coolcole93, on 12/28/2008, -0/+1He's in great form at the moment. He still knows how to put the ball in the net when it presents himself. He's a little slower than he used to be but for Man City he could be a great asset. Think of the goals tephen Ireland could get him.
- blindmelon1, on 12/28/2008, -1/+2A Village People tribute band.
- thelastheraclid, on 12/28/2008, -1/+2I hope he stays with Newcastle.
- inactive, on 12/28/2008, -1/+2I saw the standings on the side of that article. I'm hoping Stoke City gets at least a win to avoid the relegation since I watched a couple of those games and they seemed to play with alot of heart.
So many Americans playing in the Premier League it's sorta funny. Dempsey for Fulham and Friedel for Aston Villa to name just two. - blindmelon1, on 12/28/2008, -1/+2Agreed, he's like the Jonny Wilkinson of football...
- indubitably, on 12/29/2008, -0/+1sorry dude. we all can't live in or be from england. it's the team i love, it's the sport i love. if you got a problem with that you can shove it up your ass :D
- fraggle35, on 12/28/2008, -0/+1I still can't understand why they got shot of Sven, he achieved all that was asked of him and is without a doubt a better manager than Hughes.
- diecastbeatdown, on 12/28/2008, -0/+1really there are not that many..
http://www.yanks-abroad.com/
and i think friedel is planning to naturalize (listen to his accent on exit interviews), and he doesn't play internationally anymore. - Danltn, on 12/28/2008, -1/+2Michael Owen is scoring a lot of goals for Newcastle, he'd get even more if he had a top quality player like Robinho on his side.
- Danltn, on 12/28/2008, -0/+1Because he lost 8-1.
- WSNLive, on 12/29/2008, -0/+0Looks like Real Madrid before. Money and big stars doesn't mean # 1.
- alkidance, on 12/29/2008, -1/+1Sorry Chelski. Money can't buy you history.
- dignews, on 12/30/2008, -1/+1Us scousers may be on top, not of a bonfire though, but of the Premier League :)
- PullingTeeth, on 12/31/2008, -1/+1All the trophies Arsenal have won under Wenger have been won with molested boys.
- mabsark, on 12/30/2008, -0/+0Never heard of it.
- mabsark, on 12/30/2008, -0/+0Man United are the most hated football team in England.
- mabsark, on 12/30/2008, -0/+0ZCars, FTW!
- beatski, on 12/29/2008, -0/+0he's already come out and said he's staying at newcastle til the end of the season, and with a bit of stability at newcastle and a decent league finish, i think he'll stay.
IMO he's put off signing a new contract because of the uncertain situation currently at the club
(and i'm chuffed that football is so high up on digg)
howay the toon - inactive, on 12/29/2008, -1/+1wow, Liverpool fans who don't come from Liverpool. Now there's a ***** surprise.
- mabsark, on 12/30/2008, -0/+0They're just jealous. Everybody knows that the 2 best footy teams come from Merseyside, that's Everton and Tranmere. ZCars all the way.
