- Vital8, on 11/22/2008, -1/+17hmmm... i dont see the use of this. he'll most likely pass his time on the bench anyway with toni, klose and podolski already fighting for the two forward positions.
- hardtoselect, on 11/22/2008, -2/+15that's not god damn soccer! that's FOOTBALL!
- jthei, on 11/22/2008, -1/+14WTF? When did soccer (especially MLS, VAMOS UNITED!!) related articles make it to the front page? Weird bizarro digg. Does this mean he's going to be in and out for MLS play next year? Galaxy is a lost cause without him. Hopefully the third time's a charm for him in bundesliga.
Also, his wife is hot. - Agger, on 11/22/2008, -1/+13He'll get no playing time.
- cJeremy, on 11/22/2008, -5/+15Represent, USA!
- futebollounge, on 11/22/2008, -1/+10... to wash shoes just like at bayer leverkusen.
- Acksull, on 11/22/2008, -0/+8MLS Denies Donovan Bayern Deal Is Done
Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber stated that any loan arrangement with Bayern Munich for the striker has not even begun to take place.
http://www.goal.com/en/news/592/bayern-munich/2008 ... - buryyourhead, on 11/22/2008, -1/+8well...donovan can also play as an attacking midfielder
- zalery, on 11/22/2008, -3/+10Although the MLS is improving, Landon should really think about playing in Europe again on a permanent basis. He's a great player that won't be able to expand on his game while playing in the MLS.
- gianttoolbox11, on 11/22/2008, -0/+7Galaxy is a lost cause with him, they are pathetic.
- whataboutdave, on 11/22/2008, -1/+7The man has pace and a golden touch. The problem is that Donovan is a great player in games that don't matter. Whenever it comes time for him to play a decisive role he disappears.
That said, I think he's vastly more mature than when he first had a spell in Germany. This might be a good move. - metapop, on 11/22/2008, -3/+9donovan is a big fish in a small pond in the MLS... in europe, he'll be nothing.
- LeonHRodriguez, on 11/22/2008, -0/+5A tartan profile picture, and yet you call it 'soccer.'
They call it football in Scotland, lad. - buffalodan, on 11/22/2008, -0/+5so can schweingsteiger and pololski. I see him spending his time on the bench, but even training with klose and those guys should be amazing. It like beckham going to AC milan. there is no need for him with all the talent they have up front, but he could be going there just to make sure he stays fit.
- ErhanBd, on 11/22/2008, -2/+7I guess he's better than Buffon or Casillas, too? US is a minor leaguer in football. That's a fact. Now, get rid of that salary cap, and then we'll talk.
- atkruz789, on 11/22/2008, -0/+5I am glad to see him go. This will allow Arena to build his own team without the load of Beckham and Donovan. This is a move that I think will really help LA in the long run. Time to bring in some other big names though.
- poidh, on 11/22/2008, -2/+7München!
- ecualung, on 11/22/2008, -3/+7All of you who keep saying he'll get no playing time---Juergen Klinsmann has publicly stated several times that he wants to bring in Donovan because he feels that he is ready to contribute to Bayern Munich on the field. I find it interesting that you all fancy yourselves to be better coaches than Klinsmann.
- SGD2C, on 11/22/2008, -2/+6Good for Donovan joining the german giants! I hope its better then last time when he joined Leverkusen.
- kimme, on 11/22/2008, -1/+5Who's got an updated league for FM 2009 with all these transfers and loans in an updated league pack?
- s0lace, on 11/22/2008, -3/+7Landon Donovan = the new Captain America now that Claudio Reyna is 103 years old
As for the transfer, it's about time- it's too bad he's on the downside of his career now...
That said, good for him' - mmg044, on 11/22/2008, -0/+3the U.S. does produce some quality players, but they get lost in the shuffle it seems. Also, since soccer is at least #4 on the hierarchy, all our great athletes play football or basketball. Imagine if soccer was the #1 sport and every kid grew up playing it like brazil...we would be so much better.
- beerwench, on 11/22/2008, -3/+6great to see him getting some more exposure out in europe.. he's a great player and has a great future... good for him :]
- whataboutdave, on 11/22/2008, -0/+3Nobody is saying he'll be famous. He's not even the best current US striker (well behind Altidore).
What's interesting here is the plot arc - he's played in Europe before and failed to perform to the standards he has set in international play. - kirualeorio, on 11/22/2008, -2/+5Meh, he will probably be watching all the games on the bench just like he did a few years ago. The reason why he came back to MLS was because he couldn't even crack the starting lineup in the practice squad. I am not bashing him at all. He is probably one of the top 5 players in US right now.
- mmg044, on 11/22/2008, -0/+2fifa-manager.com will generally update their ***** a couple times a season. Just use the editor, silly.
- dashiel, on 11/22/2008, -0/+2the all-time leading goal scorer for the u.s. mens national team. the 2008 golden boot winner. the seventh all-time goal scorer in mls isn't much of a striker?
- buffalodan, on 11/22/2008, -4/+6Our Goalies are 10x better than some european countries. Howard > James or Robinson.
- mmg044, on 11/22/2008, -0/+2Podolski is getting no time in Bayern. I bet he goes to the prem...man city seem to want everyone.
- indubitably, on 11/22/2008, -1/+3notice the use of the word "some". fact is we produce quality keepers. perhaps 'cause most of our sports allow the use of your hands and we're more accustom to that. just a theory
- teessidedazza, on 11/22/2008, -0/+2mmg044...don't get carried away! Perhaps if the US utilises their Hispanic population I am sure they will find some gems...
- adt41287, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2he also gets to train with the team. helps keeps fitness level over break and will gain personal while playings with players who surround him.
- br0ck, on 11/22/2008, -0/+2Brad Friedel > Kasey Keller > Craig Gordon

- nobeatnokill, on 11/22/2008, -0/+2I know... Futbol, football, or soccer. It's all the same.
- ecualung, on 11/22/2008, -0/+2@teessidedazza--We already have several Hispanic players in the mix. Carlos Bocanegra, Pablo Mastroeni, Jose Torres, Michael Orozco, Arturo Alvarez...the list goes on.
- almir, on 02/26/2009, -0/+1Has he signed for Bayern at all ? I can't remember I saw it there

http://www.foyz.com - scarcasm, on 11/23/2008, -0/+1MLS isn't much of a league. I think McBride was the only US striker that had what it takes to survive in the european leagues.
- kirualeorio, on 11/22/2008, -1/+2What the coach said to the media doesn't mean anything. He probably did it for marketing and jersey sales.
Don Nelson for the Golden State Warriors also once said Mike Dunleavy and Troy Murphy are stars in the making. Look at where they are right now. - AmericanGunner, on 11/22/2008, -1/+2spurs, one spot from bottom of the league, :)
- krytz86, on 11/22/2008, -6/+7Landon Donovan is gash, like all american 'soccer' players.
- scarcasm, on 11/22/2008, -4/+5Landon Donovan isn't much of a striker. I'm scared for Bayern Munich now :(
On a personal note, I'll always see Donovan as a murderer on the field.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvin_Lee_Stadium - mamboboy, on 11/22/2008, -6/+6Jason Donovan could probably get into most German teams these days, so it's no biggy really.
