- twrife, on 10/10/2007, -10/+86That's the best insult he could come up with?
- aryo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+74well it was good enough apparently.
- crushfan, on 10/10/2007, -5/+18He's a football player, what would you expect?
- PetroSan, on 10/10/2007, -7/+23English is his 2nd language. And yes, he said the insult in English. Go learn rudimentary Italian [he had only two years of schooling in English and come up with some clever insult.
- ThatEvilGuy, on 10/10/2007, -8/+3If Italian was as ubiquitous as English he would.
- mgrest, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Materazzi had a year playing for Everton in the English Premiership in 1998/9 season so he'll no doubt have a few more insults up his sleeve having lived in Liverpool for a year, although I doubt that Zidane would understand the Scouse accent and colloquialisms...

- potyl, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I'm not too convinced that he said the insults in English, I'm pretty sure that the insults where in Italian. Keep in mind that Zidane played from 1996 to 2001in Italy with Juventus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zidane) and speaks Italian.
- ThatEvilGuy, on 10/10/2007, -8/+3If Italian was as ubiquitous as English he would.
- EBFoxbat, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14I would have crushed his windpipe with my cleat, but that's just me.
- sofaKing812, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Zidane is really sensitive about his sister. I can't remember the exact history, but I think it has happened before and has something to do with his family's Algerian roots.
- RunnyBabbit, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Actually, the translation makes sense. In some Romance languages you say that you prefer something when you want to say that it is your favorite.
- TheDiceMan, on 10/10/2007, -5/+87"FINISH HIIIMMMM"
- bryano, on 10/10/2007, -2/+43That's a pretty tame insult by Materazzi's standards
- Porbeagle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Haha, yeah
- xXRobbyXx, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7Tutto scemo Materazzi!!!
- Mysticum, on 10/10/2007, -1/+193Oh, thank Jesus you censored that terrible Satan-worshiping, godless, soul-corrupting word in the title!
- Macuyiko, on 10/10/2007, -3/+59"Where"?
- theOster, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17i seriously read it as "where"
- JorgeGT, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Me too, English is not my first language and I was a bit puzzled n_n'

- Infantrydude, on 10/10/2007, -18/+21. It is soccer news YAWN! 2. A fight between an Italian and a French man for what to see who would surrender fastest? Can't Digg get something more relevant like pictures of kittens?
- rupprupp29, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2ignorant much?
- Dotmeister, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1whore? What's wrong with that? Did I say something wrong?
- LuckyLucas, on 10/10/2007, -6/+0This is so stupid!!!! Didn't know which word it was? It certainly wasn't 'where' or 'whure' or wathever. That asterix is just a way to soothe your conscience.
I have no problem with the * in wh*re, but don't be so naive thinking it is censoring the word- Chaos12, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Do you know what the ***** censoring means?
- parabiosis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3That "asterix" is just a way to soothe your conscience.

- Macuyiko, on 10/10/2007, -3/+59"Where"?
- tjex, on 10/10/2007, -18/+31Bleh, that's the only way the Italians can win games
- PetroSan, on 10/10/2007, -6/+11yeah...the World Cup Champions won by dirty tactics, every game.
- Wizardtb, on 10/10/2007, -1/+20Nah, they won pretty fairly in the last two matches, the rest were pretty disgraceful shows of sportsmanship from the Italians... Italy-USA and Italy-Australia were the worst of them.
- tenenbaum, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Yes, pretty much...
- Jeffler, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19Italy/Australia was a joke, especaillly the end...Grosso obviously dived.
And before you call me an sore loser Aussie, I'm Italian.- fmcivic16si, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2yeah the defender didn't raise his elbow to trip the Italian player, thats right....
- CrazyChair, on 07/21/2008, -2/+1Keep telling yourself that. He must've been pretty clumsy...
- fmcivic16si, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2yeah the defender didn't raise his elbow to trip the Italian player, thats right....
- chronichyjinx, on 10/10/2007, -7/+2I doubt you've even watch a game.
- tjex, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Actually, I doubt you've watched the Italians play. Dives.. dives.. and even more dives. And Materazzi is quite well known for his dirty plays.
- brunomarone, on 10/10/2007, -7/+13 world cups! I remind you losers
- tjex, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8It's 4 world cups! and you're calling us losers... you don't even know how many cups they've won!
- PetroSan, on 10/10/2007, -6/+11yeah...the World Cup Champions won by dirty tactics, every game.
- graaaag, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12what language did he say it in? Italian? French? English?

http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,2151762,00.html (scroll down) - reddevil3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I'm guessing Italian, since Zidane probably speaks a bit (he spent years playing for Juventus, one of the top Italian teams).
- EviLiu, on 10/10/2007, -1/+42Thanks for censoring, my virgin eyes wouldn't have handled it.
- Rizmaster, on 10/10/2007, -5/+123Whore. Whore whore whore. Whorish whorebag whorery. Who ***** cares if you put Whore in a title?
- Frnnkdlxx, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Yeah, us nerdy diggers are like potty mouthed Collin Ferrel's, times 1,000.
- MarkOfTheDead, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1would that make us all raging dry drunks times 1,000 too?
- knowyourrights, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2whore - one of my favorite words in the English language. Rolls of the tongue so very nicely, almost aches for a few sips of Earl Grey Tea right after you say it.
- h2g242, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1You cant say whore on a plane!

;)- delude101, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Yes that's what my innocent mind came up with at first, though it is 3:45am where i live...
- OJdidntdoIT, on 10/10/2007, -11/+4The only way that comment should result in physical violence is if the sister was present.
Or if his sister was currently in rehab for being a ***** whore.- peligro18, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0agree, futbol is a smart people game...if u felt in provocations...u r done...besides, zidane wasn't a rookie, he lost it , Ur gone! red card!
- Ifishbein, on 10/10/2007, -2/+70I'd head-butt him too.
- PetroSan, on 10/10/2007, -17/+2then you need court-mandated anger management - a desire and/or urge to headbutt is much less sever than actually doing it. a "shut the ***** up" would have sufficed.
- Myonosken, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7No, its the normal response if some ***** Italian calls your sister a whore.
- Prathik89, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Plus if you have a shiny head.
- Myonosken, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7No, its the normal response if some ***** Italian calls your sister a whore.

- TearsofaClown, on 10/10/2007, -6/+58the insult that won the world cup
- jkizzle, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5you mean the insult that made zizou ineligbile for shootout.
by no means ever qualify a shootout win as a win. - patik, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3If Zidane wasn't ejected, he likely would've taken one of the first penalty kicks, so Trezuguet would've missed the 4th shot instead of the 3rd. Either way, a win for the Italians -- something I loathe to see.
- jkizzle, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5you mean the insult that made zizou ineligbile for shootout.
- Wizardtb, on 10/10/2007, -22/+1Got to love European football.... 11 men in their own side falling over when the wind blows. That had to be one of the most boring World Cups anyway so who cares anymore.
- neozeed, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Ty Cobb would have been proud! Now buy some coke stock!
- devoted, on 10/10/2007, -4/+4Materazzi is a real scary *****, not Ken and Barbie Beckham. He and Zidane created mythology. If you missed the whole myth you can see a collection right here: http://tinyurl.com/32729v
- napk, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Materazzi hasn't looked scary since Zidane laid him out like a bitch in the Cup.
The end.
- napk, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Materazzi hasn't looked scary since Zidane laid him out like a bitch in the Cup.
- crushfan, on 10/10/2007, -16/+29Damn, it's not "soccer" -- it's football. I don't know who invented that disgusting word but they call it FOOTBALL in all over the Europe.
- Jon211, on 10/10/2007, -4/+19The British invented the word soccer, from aSOCciation football.
This is also where Rugger came from as a term for rugby football. - PetroSan, on 10/10/2007, -9/+10Well in America we call it Soccer. Why is that so bad? I play soccer, and I don't see what the big deal. It is a cultural difference, get over it.
- peligro18, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0get it right!
- rabbitracer, on 10/10/2007, -4/+13actually you have the very people who invented the game to blame for the name soccer. it comes from brittish school children way way back, it comes from the term "association football" which was the beginnings of organized play in the sport, unlike the more modern nickname "footie" which makes more sense soccer came by abbreviating the first word and adding er, the same happened around that time with rugby, which was shortened in most school yards to rugger.
- FattyCorpuscle, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0That makes sense...now toss me the asserball.
- knowyourrights, on 10/10/2007, -4/+5Makes sense, you hit the ball with your foot.
But a game like American football where you hold the ball in your hand, of course, that should also be called football, because, you know, America said so, ***** Yeah!- mmortal03, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1It originated not from what you do to the ball, but from something along the lines of "a game with a ball played on foot".
- ukblacknight, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Yeah but pretty much every ball game is played on foot, so that just ruins that theory.
- mmortal03, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1It originated not from what you do to the ball, but from something along the lines of "a game with a ball played on foot".
- Speedy7, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I play the sport with my 'soc', so soccer sounds right ;)
- shorty9, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0So, how would you call Football, then? Because they ARE two different games, you know.
- peligro18, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0call it futbol!
- peligro18, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0call it futbol!
- rupprupp29, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This is such a pointless debate. The purpose of a word in any language is to convey a meaning. When you say 'football' in America, people think NFL, so we say 'soccer' because it's much less confusing.
We don't use the words "boot" or "lift" like they do in Europe, so why should we HAVE to call it football, especially when it would be more confusing?
- Jon211, on 10/10/2007, -4/+19The British invented the word soccer, from aSOCciation football.
- smartssa, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1I can't find "wh*re" in the dictionary.. how can it be so offensive?
- titorTT, on 10/10/2007, -8/+0diggers know no football
- KingAdrock, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11oh no he didn't!!!
- jellygraph, on 10/10/2007, -5/+30Materazzi is such a wimp if all it takes is a headbutt to the chest for him to fall over crying like a little girl.
- psevium, on 10/10/2007, -8/+3If Zidane kicked the ball and it clipped his toe, he would've fallen over crying like a little girl (clutching his shin or face of course)
- jkizzle, on 10/10/2007, -7/+23he is italian, a slight breeze would send him writhing in pain on the ground.
- Morphinity, on 10/10/2007, -4/+5He's a soccer player, he was most likely faking it.
- Akronos, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I have never seen a member of the US MNT dive.
- 7Mystery, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3What kind of an insult is that for an Italian?
Zinedine Zidane will 4ever be missed- knowyourrights, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2What on earth are you blabbering about? Zidane is not dead *****.
- Gregus1032, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2but he retired.
- brunomarone, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0i will miss players stupid as him in final games
- knowyourrights, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2What on earth are you blabbering about? Zidane is not dead *****.
- javasharp, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Shame on you Materazzi!
- osuchasenuts, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14How the hell do you say "wh*re"
If someone knows how to swear with asterisks please tell me it would be very useful around children.- LaueOfficer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Actually, try sucking in your breath as you say it, it cleans it up some.
- algo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13i still think Zidane came out on top, weeks after the event, people were discussing the head butt, not the score or world cup out come, not Materazzi.
- digger_twit, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8"I prefer to wear your sister."
- scabbers, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Don't talk about my sister, you dirty uncle *****.

- SoulDesigner, on 10/10/2007, -31/+7yeah here's an old one from 2004. She's not as hot as you would expect for a footballer's sister, but in fact his mother is a milf!

- crushfan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2*****, *****, *****.. Don't click if you're easily sicken. That was the sickest shock image prank I've ever faced on Digg. It's a picture of, well, a human being but I'm really out of vocabulary to describe it.
Dude, I'll never forgive you. NEVER. - patik, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3It's a girl with a terribly mangled face.
- Ubersmush, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1I'd hit it
- nephilonic, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1LOL I gotta admit that got me, freakin awesome.
- brunomarone, on 10/10/2007, -3/+0look in the whore's classifieds?
- SoulDesigner, on 10/10/2007, -31/+7yeah here's an old one from 2004. She's not as hot as you would expect for a footballer's sister, but in fact his mother is a milf!
- ThatEvilGuy, on 10/10/2007, -4/+18Well I'm glad Zidane didn't swallow it like a lot of "men" would. I mean come on, he is insulting your sister, your family, I know it's ok to insult each other's families nowadays, but I'm glad there are still men with balls out there.
My only regret is that he didn't head butt him in the face, I mean he was going out of the game anyway, why not make the most of it?- mabhatter, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2IF that's the case they should eject this guy for 1 game of each playoff his team might get in. Fights about play on the field are one thing as things can get tense... badmouthing family members is considered "picking a fight" in most places and the head butt was completely legal in that case. Perhaps the team should retroactively forfeit the game!!!
- shabuzen, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9The headbutt heard around the world.
- rainchild, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0classic
- yahoofrom, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1I'd hit it.
- PATSCRU, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3That whole incident was so sad i almost cried....I watched Zidane with starry eyes the whole world cup because he was playing the best he had played in years, and then he had that awful mark on his last game. It's a shame that the headbutt got more exposure from people who don't watch football than his stellar performance in the the tournament.
- napk, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Man... those Italians are so damn classy
- Shakermaker, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I bet it sounds beautiful and eloquent in Italian....
- LaueOfficer, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Wouldn't know, he said it in English.
- Shakermaker, on 10/10/2007, -2/+28Zidane jokingly said something like "Why are you holding on to me? Do you wanna ***** me?", to which the retort was "I prefer the whore that is your sister....
- nephilonic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I read that Zidane said "why are you holding my shirt?" whilst looking Materazzi up and down with arrogance, "if you want my shirt I'll let you have it after the game", to which the reply was "i would prefer the whore that is your sister"
Either way we'll probably never know the exact comments. - Anonymouz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yeah nephilonic is right that's was i heard too.
I think they asked Zidane what he said etc but they also had lip readers watch the footage from the game and they came up with the same thing. - marc6hd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Zidane: "He grabbed my shirt and I told him to stop. I told him if he wanted I'd swap it with him at the end of the match."
Materazzi: "I was tugging his shirt, he said to me 'if you want my shirt so much I'll give it to you afterwards,' I answered that I'd prefer his sister."
- jkizzle, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7it is important to not that he was albanian, and thus the subject of hundreds of racial slurs and insults throughout his career. materazzi claims this is all that was said, but this came minutes from the final whistle, likely after volley after volley of insults were fired at him.
to leave the pitch defending your family's honor is much more to admire than leaving the pitch at the whistle a racist scumbag.- patik, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Algerian, not Albanian... quite a difference, especially when some refer to the Algerian Berbers as terrorists.
- heatmizuh, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3"I forget how the rest of it goes, but your sister is a whore"
- knowyourrights, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0It's your mother is a whore, get it right holmes
- echan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1*****
- knowyourrights, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1What a rotten dirty piece of *****. He got what he deserved, I wish it was a lot worse.
- JJsays, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1thin skin for someone who makes that kind of money
- p4r1tyb1t, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2For money you would sell your sister and honor, right?
- swoopdog, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2I too prefer the whore that is your sister...ZING!
- mzmoxy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2This is old news, I heard this confirmation about 6 months ago. He also denied saying to Zidane that he was 'the son of a terrorist whore', as was widely reported at the time. It was pretty hilarious listening to news reports, lip readers, etc...decoding all the possible insults. Zidane got off pretty easy for this, though.
- capuozzo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Sports brings out the best in people.

http://www.addictinggames.com/zidaneheadbuttgame.html - knowyourrights, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I thought it was pretty smooth of Zidane to keep his mouth shut about the whole thing, lots of people asked him what was said to him, he didn't specify; a mark of a true ***** player.
- icsbase, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Materazzi is an ass. Really out of line.
- C00LI0, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9world cups come and go. but having your ass knocked the f**k down by the worlds greatest head butt on national tv is forever.
