- cptmichael101st, on 04/14/2009, -2/+18Don't worry, some of us Americans are aware enough to know about Hillsbrough. This was a horrible, needless tragedy. My heart goes out to all the families and friends that lost loved ones that day.
You'll never walk alone. - buryyourhead, on 04/14/2009, -3/+13Always one of you... and you're all ***** *****.
- Floodle, on 04/14/2009, -1/+9I remember watching this on TV, watching the people just on the other side of the fence and the people on the pitch right next to the fence but not being able to do anything - that was a bad day.
- spocksbrain, on 04/14/2009, -1/+9This tragedy happened 20 years ago, yet countries like Italy still fence their fans in at games.
- Wiggle987, on 04/15/2009, -0/+5I'm a huge Nottingham Forest fan, have been all my life, and my old man, ironically enough is a Liverpool fan, whilst I was born about two months (the day Liverpool won the Cup in fact) after the Hillsborough tragedy, my dad was at that game. Me and my old man still go down to the memorial to pay our respects to the people who lost their lives that day, I'm sure some of you people are reading this and just thinking that we're all a bunch of football hooligans, but a lot of the people involved were just normal folks and it's mind boggling to think that fathers and sons lost their lives at that match. This is a fairly big thing for me since I don't spend much time with my dad these days but we still set aside time for this every year. I'll be looking forward to seeing him again tomorrow, and at least there's the small solace that some unity came from such a needless tragedy.
And for those who are thinking "but you were born after this happened" then I'll put it into a different perspective, imagine growing up without a father and how that could have affected your life. Now imagine that could well have happened to someone on that day. - dsmx, on 04/14/2009, -1/+5yeah they stab fans from other clubs instead.
- zslice, on 04/14/2009, -3/+6Football isn't just sport, but it certainly isn't worth a single life loss, let alone 96.
- mrspurs16, on 04/15/2009, -0/+3No, footie.
- Stavrosian, on 04/15/2009, -1/+4My God, you are an ignorant *****. May you be fortunate enough never to have your life endangered needlessly, allowing you to continue being so flippant and dismissive of an easily-preventable tragedy that cost 96 innocent football fans their lives. Show some empathy or just shut your childish, malevolent mouth on a day when people who lost children, parents, siblings and friends are trying to honour their memory.
Or tell us more about how all those men, women and children who died deserved it. Preach to the choir about the justice of kids as young as ten being crushed to death in a scene more terrifying than an empathy-deficient scumbag such as yourself will ever be able to imagine. - spocksbrain, on 04/14/2009, -0/+3That's a bit harsh, in this situation "here" works fine too. Here referring to the article obviously.
- powatom, on 04/15/2009, -0/+2Hey Mauly - suck my balls.

- hiro, on 04/14/2009, -3/+3You're a pathetic scumbag, and, let me guess, a Scumchester Utd fan?
- alistairlp, on 04/16/2009, -2/+2You killed your own fans,
***** your history,
You killed your own fans! - oninbonin, on 04/14/2009, -3/+2My condolences :-( I was playing nintendo as a kid and remember seeing the news but it is really hard for anyone involved with traumatic experiences to not be psychologically affected. I grew up on a dropzone and have seen skydivers die and have seen planes crash and it definitely strikes a chord with me.
- Mauly, on 04/14/2009, -4/+3Simple fact is they blame anyone/everyone except the scouse bastards that climbed the wall or rushed the gate..... If they hadn't of been there, this would not have happened.... And the scary think is they still haven't learnt, thousands of the bastards rushed the gates at Athens.. How many more have to die?
Justice for the 39.. 15-4-89 Sheffield - God exists - Mauly, on 04/14/2009, -6/+4Thats because they aren't scouse.... Italians don't kill there own....
- buckchoris, on 04/14/2009, -11/+7Hillsborough,Heysel,Istanbul,Athens - caused by kopites
So if big brother isn't watching then kopites go mad, but because big brother isn't watching and they go mad they then blame big brother for not preventing them going mad. - Scorps111, on 04/14/2009, -7/+2The one day no hubcaps went missing.
But on a serious note, my heart goes out to everyone both directly and indirectly involved in this tragedy.
i was only two years old, but people still spoke about this for years and still do. - Norumeni, on 04/14/2009, -11/+1here ҂ hear
