- TheJimid, on 07/20/2009, -1/+47The fans would of had a lot more merit to their crying if Becks didn't help create both goals.
- ZombiEh4x, on 07/21/2009, -2/+30The fans are 'crying' because Becks is shunning the LA Galaxy and outright lying about his 'dedication' to the team.
You would be angry too if a multi-million dollar player came to your home team, take over a quarter of the team salary cap, and play like a sloth on ice.
To add insult to injury he leaves on a temporary loan, only to buy himself out of his contract with the LA Galaxy and stay with AC Milian as the MLS season starts in March. (This friendly last Thursday was his first game back). - roxgod666, on 07/21/2009, -8/+35They're booing? This man deserves a medal for playing in the MLS, any other superstar would have shot himself in the head.
- mogglas, on 07/21/2009, -4/+25it feels wierd watching american soccer fans.. I've never heard a soccer fan with an american accent..
- dudeimcarm, on 07/21/2009, -6/+24Most everyone living in LA is doing exactly what he's doing. Trying to make a ***** load of money doing something they like and are good at. Galaxy fans are hypocrites.
- MLGLies, on 07/21/2009, -1/+17"started to attack him..."
Gotta love what people will say with a little bit of adrenaline and a mob mentality....
*sigh - PenisBreath, on 07/21/2009, -4/+18I don't understand how that one ***** with the drum claims that fans aren't responsible for their actions. It's very clear that he's not a soccer fan. He just came to beat his drum.
- AdeleMor, on 07/20/2009, -16/+29wait, there are U.S. Americans who care about soccer? Sorry, futbol?
- inactive, on 07/21/2009, -3/+15http://www.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/couldof.html
- SeinfeldQuote, on 07/21/2009, -2/+14"expect a drunk fan to control himself?"
that is what pisses me off. drunkeness is apparently an excuse for people. get your ***** life together. they are both responsible for what they said. - weeFred, on 07/21/2009, -0/+11It's actually quite funny to hear you speak like Beckham has never had to deal with rough fans before. He spent most of his career in the English Premiership, I'm sure he's seen worse than a few angry LA fans.
- ultmast, on 07/21/2009, -1/+12I was there at the game, in that section with the "LA Riot Squad" fan group (and yes, in the video). This article, and the video, miss the best part of this entire exchange.
My section was booing the crap out of him every touch in the first half before this, and a few of the more rowdy ones had carried this on into the second half, despite him giving a pretty magnificent effort on the day, and being directly involved in most of our chances (and the first goal).
So we're down 2-1 with something like 25 minutes left, and Becks has to take a corner kick right in front of us (Section 137, SE corner). He shakes his head as he walks towards us, appearing to dread the confrontation. Then, he places the ball, and absolutely trademarks one right to Jordan for the tying goal. Perfect kick. Becks turns around, looks directly at the front row of my section, and puts his hands to his lips in a "shhh", before getting mobbed by teammates.
The best revenge is living well. they say. Applause outweighed the boos by quite a bit when he left the field, and rightfully so, Riot Squad be damned. - drifter, on 07/21/2009, -4/+14he honestly should be suspended. You don't tell a fan to come down and confront you. Also, I'd be pissed if Tom Brady played for a european team and was more interested in that team and then came to the Patriots.
- bdavey311, on 07/21/2009, -2/+11As far as I'm concerned Beckham thought he wasn't going to play in the 2010 World Cup again and decided to finish his career in LA. New coach for England changed that and now Becks has a chance to play in the next World Cup and needs to play at a higher level. ***** that...I'm with him. Everybody would have done the same thing. Get over it.
- HugeBalls, on 07/21/2009, -2/+11I think Beckham realized that even the money isn't worth it.
- noino1966, on 07/21/2009, -1/+10
Yes...LA Galaxy fans are world renowned for their soccer hooliganism...
/s - Khanvalescent, on 07/21/2009, -1/+10The money helps.
- john2kx, on 07/21/2009, -0/+8194/195 countries in the ***** world, my friend.
- john2kx, on 07/21/2009, -1/+9Why not? If they act like prima donnas, they deserve to be booed, regardless of what team they're on.
- muffinmonk, on 07/21/2009, -0/+8Here in Chicago we have Fire fans having parties and stuff. It's true MLS isn't so popular, but dedicated fans are dedicated fans.
- meson2k, on 07/21/2009, -4/+11Beckham is a j@ck@$$. There... I said it.
- thedivinelyevil, on 07/21/2009, -1/+7I remember watching soccer with an American commentator! Being used to commentators with British accents all my life, it just didn't feel right. The voice felt so out of place, just like if a British commentator did American football!
- charm803, on 07/21/2009, -3/+8You can't control what other people do, only how you react to them.
David recently called out his teammate for being "unprofessional" about a book he wrote in which he slams David. And here is David, acting "unprofessional."
He should have just left it alone. - kestermatsumoto, on 07/21/2009, -1/+6Why does nobody seem to know the difference between 'have' (perfect tense) and 'of'. Damn I know Korean teenagers who have a better grasp of English than a lot of you.
- darkjedig, on 07/21/2009, -4/+9I think eveyone is missing the point here. Football players move clubs all the time, even WHEN THEY ARE IN CONTRACT! It doesn't matter. Beckham signed a 5 year contract but so do countless other players around the world, then move to other clubs.
If you yanks knew anything about football you wouldn't be going mad about it, its the game so accept it. Look at Ronaldo, saying his heart and soul are with man u, then he goes to real madrid. Bekham has said publicly that he needs first class football to be on the England team for the world cup, he is not going about saying his heart is with the Galaxy, just his wallet is.
Soccer will never take off in the U.S.A., unless they make one goal worth 6 points so the game look high scoring, and they can call the league winners "world champs" (like baseball and nfl!!!) - kopiwrite, on 07/21/2009, -2/+7There are quite a few countries in the Americas other than the US if you look at a map. Apparently South Americans consider themselves Americans (because they are) and are a bit confused why US thinks they're the only Americans in this Hemisphere. Tid bit of interesting info I learned while studying abroad down there.
- ultmast, on 07/21/2009, -0/+4Because that would be boring.
- GenericJoshman, on 07/21/2009, -5/+9U.S. Americans?
- mogglas, on 07/21/2009, -0/+4uhm.. u might want to delete that comment..
- SScottAZ, on 07/21/2009, -0/+4It looked like the guy got a personal invitation to join Beckham on the field and they arrested him anyway?
- jitterbits, on 07/21/2009, -1/+5Hockey,
I think many people in the US seem to send it via anus. - canadabluesfan, on 07/21/2009, -0/+4like he did last time right?
- alvination, on 07/21/2009, -0/+3Go Dynamo!
- kdmkdmkdm, on 07/21/2009, -0/+3you fail, so, so hard
- brownsound00, on 07/21/2009, -2/+5Regardless, if Beckham came to the MLS he knew what he was facing. A subpar league with an immediate need of a super star. He was supposed to be the face of his team, but instead he gave up halfway through and got a loan to AC. He should know that the fans would react negatively to that... why wouldn't they? Their supposed saviour took off to Italy for the better half of the season!
- Hollowpoint, on 07/21/2009, -0/+3Because it's called football.
- teamr, on 07/21/2009, -2/+5lol Edgar. There were football riots in England before the NFL existed. Google "football firms" and resarch what sport riots are like in europe. Example: I was at a Millwall game that they lost big...their fans ambushed a mounted cop and KILLED HIS HORSE.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-112738/Pol ... <--- you dont see this ***** in the NFL. Sorry mate but nobody riots like us. Beckham has delt with WAY worse! Trust me - superdigg, on 07/21/2009, -1/+4I didn't know there -were- LA Galaxy fans.
- ZombiEh4x, on 07/21/2009, -1/+3you obviously didn't go to or see any of the past two seasons where Becks played for the Galaxy.
His apathy towards the team was apparent to anyone watching in the HDC.
Having the skills that he does (I'm not saying he doesn't) and watching him apathetically mope around the pitch while wearing the captains armband does much to earn the scorn of dedicated fans. - hutectro, on 07/21/2009, -1/+3 David Beckham GO HOME YOU ARE NOT WANTED HERE
- m3arvk, on 07/22/2009, -0/+2I'll be glad for him if he does make the squad but that doesn't excuse his lack of leadership or enthusiasm when he has played for the LAG and it doesn't mean he shouldn't apologize to the fans for not being there.
- mrkredo, on 07/21/2009, -1/+3Let's go Metro!
- fandyllic, on 07/21/2009, -0/+2Beckham is the Barry Zito of the MLS.
- Hockey13, on 07/21/2009, -0/+2Yes, we have accents.
"In linguistics, an accent is a manner of pronunciation of a language. Accents can be confused with dialects which are varieties of language differing in vocabulary, syntax, and morphology, as well as pronunciation. Dialects are usually spoken by a group united by geography or social status."
So you tell me...do we pronounce English here in the US with our vocal chords and mouths or do we send it via some other supersensory organ? - bedake, on 07/21/2009, -2/+4LA Fans? pleaseeee
- jkbaylor, on 07/22/2009, -0/+2Ummmmmm....who cares? Really.
- kopiwrite, on 07/21/2009, -4/+6"played in the MLS" ? ... hardly. He simply received a paycheck from the MLS but he hardly ever played.
- njndirish, on 07/22/2009, -0/+2o rly?
