- shawnblog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0norton sucks anyway
- Vegeta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0God forbid OS's starting incorporating protection into there systems. Ohh wait M$ already tried, lol.
- MoAgW, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0At some point there is going to be so many resources tied up in virus/spyware prevention/removal, that it would almost be less resource intensive to leave it on there..
- Pile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Norton is a virus; a mafia virus that stops working if you don't pay into their subscription scheme. It's almost as bad as Quickbooks. I remember when you bought a software program, and it worked in perpetuity and didn't shake you down for money to continue functioning at a later moment in time. Pass on this crappy software and send a message that you won't tolerate mafia subscription software that isn't worth the money in the first place.
- Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0other than the free antivirus alternatives you gotta pay a yearly subscription
whether it's norton, zonealarm etc etc etc....norton use to be a good product but now it's not and I switched to zone alarm...calling norton a virus and mafia scheme is bs and you know that. If it's a good product like zonealarm I don't mind paying it....also when you buy the product it comes with 1 year of updates and you have to buy a new version of the software anyways....if you don't wanna pay stay with avg and be with IM security etc etc etc thats your decision. - snapcase, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I used Norton untill the lifetime updates were suddenly requiring a recurring subscription.
If you want a good and free antivirus go download AVG free at http://free.grisoft.com/ It's what I use and have no complaints. - xorvious, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Norton is junk, ppl pay to get the software and then pay hourly to have my shop remove it and use AVG free to kill all the viruses is misses. Not to mention paying every 6 months for updates to software that eats resources like crazy, breaks systems, and more often than not doesn't even stop all viruses! And ***** subscription based software, just cause they cant make any new products marketing decides we need a new version every year that is mandatory and usually has no new features AND you have to pay for updates/subs... And don't even get me started on mcassee!
grrrrr stupid software companies... - pfdogs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Avast Home Edition is free (www.avast.com), and it is actually able to delete virus-infected files when it finds them (unlike Norton).
- pfdogs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0NAV, NIS, etc. is slow already. This will only make it slower.
