Don't try to start another lame ideology war. If you think the average Democrat politician gives a flyin hell about us anymore than the average Republican politician then I've got some magic beans to sell you. - Dawnspire, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9The internet wasnt made for wrestling.
- rmxz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Seems this is an opt-in program. It'd be pretty cool if someone would set up a vmware virtual machine that would have this installed and scripts to go surf totally misleading stuff to mess with their numbers. Then anyone could download one and run one (or hundreds) of these virtual machines on the free vmware player.
It'd be pretty amusing to see comscore publish results like 98% of users use firefox and more people use digg than msn and myspace combined. - chojin42, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9llbbl: 2.5 days because, if I recall correctly, they were leaving early in the afternoon on Thursday...
- olik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7looks like the poster just made that part up. I would bury it as inaccurate but the rest is pretty important
- uuzi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7C'mon.. they get free screen savers. Who wouldn't want free screen savers?
- milligansghost, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9It never going to be illegal these guys have to many people in their pocket for it ever to stop just look at who they sell the Info to, do you really think these people care ??
- Xyber411, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I've made my living removing crap like these for the past 3 years... I see no end in sight.
- evilgold, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4honestly if your stupid enough to let ***** like that get on your computer, you probably deserve to be running it. These are the same people who send out those "Send this on to 10 people and you'll get a million dollars" emails.
Stop using windows and you wont have to deal with this *****, plan and simple - sinurgy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"Edelman and Howes also observed similar downloads, based off porn and wrestling fan sites, by PacerD and MediaMotor"
That statement made me laugh, sigh and ultimately shake my head in resignation. Some people just need to be protected from themselves! - ihatebillg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3ok
so it is not hard to get rid of windows and you would not have this problem
yes I am a fanboy of things that don't suck so that is any thing that is not windows - finkployd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3It doesn't actually mention Google or this company called etc. in the article.
Why is it in the blurb like it comes from the story? - RuslanAts, on 05/01/2008, -0/+0This situation can be advantageous for clients of comScore. I think it is hardly they did not know about privacy violation of Internet users. The more privacy violation the more information they obtain. Furthermore it is very possible that information collected with such way has the most value for client of comScore. All in all they will be able to sell us more and gain more profits. It’s like a conspiracy, that was prepaid. Nonetheless we redound to violation of our privacy – Internet by itself is very convenient environment for such misapplications and we should care about our privacy ourselves. No one do this on us. In this case, the harm caused was not very tangible but if comScore will not be punished, one day others will be able to use technologies of information collection through Internet against us.
- westyvw, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Its also windows, so bury the "we spy on you" in a EULA and no one will read it anyways.
Stupid windows users, Stupid EULA's. - dupswapdrop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It's only illegal if you can't afford million dollar lawyers.
- arlene1985, on 12/01/2007, -0/+0Piracy has been legalized long ago. Many softwares which are claimed as 100% safe collect sensitive data and report to insitutions few people want to deal with. And all is done without prior agreement! I believe that a couple of reliable antispyware programs from reputable privacy protection companies like Webroot Spy Sweeper http://spy-sweeper-download.blogspot.com and ParetoLogic http://xoftspyantispyware.blogspot.com XoftSpy are a must on every Internet-connected Pc or laptop. There can't be too much privacy!
- kisc, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1PG FTW!
- llbbl, on 10/12/2007, -25/+10Republicans are for this kinda crap, that is why. Also apparently because our politicians have only been working 3 days a week for the last 6 years.
