- armoreddillo, on 03/01/2008, -1/+94""When this genie gets out of the bottle, it's out for all purposes," U.S. District Judge Jeffrey White said after a more than 3-hour-long hearing here. Earlier, White said he had "an obligation to get it right" and that "I took an oath to uphold the Constitution."
If nothing else can be said for the intelligence of this judge,
he at least can admit when he is wrong. - roguemedia, on 03/01/2008, -0/+62wooo!!!! victory!

- PATSCRU, on 03/01/2008, -0/+49In an age where whistleblowers get their houses set on fire, this site is a godsend.
- Deodrus, on 03/01/2008, -0/+46All this fiasco really did was publicize WikiLeaks.
hahaha... in the end, WikiLeaks became much more famous !! - pimpofpixels, on 03/01/2008, -2/+39OMG, Did a federal judge just uphold a LAW?
I'm so used to our country making the wrong decisions... Bush appointment, FCC deregulation, Network Neutrality, Telecom Immunity etc. that I've become totally pre-conditioned to disappointment and discontent concerning the United States Government. What a giant win for Internet free speech. What a win for the CONSTITUTION. :) - ZaNkY, on 03/01/2008, -2/+39My suggestion to you is to look up the definition of a "whistle blower".
Admittedly there is potential for abuse, but it's just as likely that that "secret" information ends up on 4chan. Thus are the consequences (advantages/disadvantages) of free information flow (read: The Internet). Again, go grab yourself a dictionary, and come back to me when you can define "whistle blower". - Opheicus, on 03/01/2008, -0/+32"I took an oath to uphold the Constitution."
brb changing pants - Winston84, on 03/01/2008, -0/+30Wow, a Judge admitting he was wrong ?
- MindTrigger, on 03/01/2008, -0/+25The best part about this fiasco has been that people who have never heard of WikiLeaks, and might never have otherwise, saw it splashed all over the internet. Free advertising ftw.
- tw3k, on 03/01/2008, -0/+25wow, a bush nom too!
- inactive, on 03/01/2008, -0/+22Terrorists hate America because America has been bombing their countries for decades. Not because of a whistle blowing website. And I really don't see how this website is going to "help" them anyway.
- SuckMyDigg, on 03/01/2008, -0/+22Your comment is an obvious product of a wild imagination, some paranoia, and the fact that you've never visited the site. There are teams of people dedicated to verifying the leaks that come in and the purpose of posting the leak. It's not run by some middle schoolers or some backwoods vigilante.
- smacksaw, on 03/01/2008, -1/+20Damn right they shouldn't sue in the US. It's shameful that we're the world's courthouse for civil actions. The Swiss should sue in their own jurisdiction. The US has nothing to do with the owner's residence nor his country of citizenship. Imagine if we apprehended criminals this way. It would have been like waiting for Saddam Hussein in Switzerland since he had accounts there.
And not to oversimplify, but it's nice to see one of my fellow Americans admit they're wrong now and then...let alone a JUDGE of all people. He should tell the Swiss' attorneys to get the ***** out of his courthouse and quit clogging up our legal system. - jstone, on 03/01/2008, -0/+18He's probably one of those paranoids that thinks all whistleblowers are America-hating traitors that leak top-secret information straight to Osama Bin Laden. Just bury him and move on.
- carpespasm, on 03/01/2008, -0/+17as well as many major news outlets who use wikileaks as well.
- Acewrap, on 03/01/2008, -2/+18You sir, are a coward.
- grungegbunny, on 03/01/2008, -0/+15The pressure of the people works sometimes.
- inactive, on 03/01/2008, -3/+17Why do you hate knowledge? Is it because Ignorance is bliss?
- pimpofpixels, on 03/01/2008, -1/+13My I ask sincerely that you abstain from voting in the future.
- inactive, on 03/01/2008, -2/+14The judge is a wise and good man. May he and his family be blessed with favorable things.
- ianam, on 03/01/2008, -0/+12We must not have intelligence! We must remain stupid!
- GMorgan, on 03/01/2008, -0/+11Being born gives people the power to put others lives in jeopardy. The world is inherently a dangerous place, with or without wikileaks.
- rmhainlen, on 03/01/2008, -0/+11exactly, I had never heard of it before. Now, I plan to visit it quite often.
- pimpofpixels, on 03/01/2008, -0/+10For some reason I have a feeling that the decision is going to be appealed, and we haven’t heard the last of this by a long shot.
- Herv3, on 03/01/2008, -0/+10I'd give them two points for all he extra publicity they've gotten out of this.
- insanebrain, on 03/01/2008, -0/+9They are trying to increase the sell of whistles.
- TotalHalibut, on 03/01/2008, -0/+9Indeed. Judges are famous for listening to the cries of angry Digg users.
- endlessoul, on 03/01/2008, -0/+8I know. It's ***** wild.
- jeffsback2223, on 03/01/2008, -0/+8This is really a great day for all. I never thought in a million years that a judge, appointed by Bush no less, would take the time of day to both admit and correct his misjudgments.
- njcarlos, on 03/01/2008, -0/+8Just because someone has the lead midway through a race doesn't mean it's a tie in the end.
- bliz, on 03/01/2008, -0/+6Not all judges are douchbags. ;)
- philodygmn, on 03/01/2008, -0/+6Everyone's forgetting that Wikileaks themselves were exposed as part of their domain's being hijacked by the court-poration: the judge ordered Dynadot to reveal their customer's identifying information! If I were a whilstleblower, I'd feel less safe posting to Wikileaks even now, knowing that the site's proprietors have been outed.
- Ratteler, on 03/01/2008, -3/+9Wow is right. There are still honest Judges. Have to make sure he stays alive when the revolution starts.
- ianam, on 03/01/2008, -3/+8***** but you're stupid, VacaN. Terrorists don't need WikiLeaks to exchange information.
- inactive, on 03/01/2008, -0/+5"The site should resume U.S. operations perhaps as early as today." - Funny, I've been reading it all week. It never went down for me.
"I took an oath to uphold the Constitution." - Bush and his appontees even KNOW what The U.S. Constitution is? - GMorgan, on 03/01/2008, -1/+5"Imagine if we apprehended criminals this way. It would have been like waiting for Saddam Hussein in Switzerland since he had accounts there."
You obviously have not been following the news in recent years. This is exactly how the US apprehends its 'terror suspects'. Extraordinary rendition mean nothing to you? - ThreeDee912, on 03/02/2008, -0/+4So, basically...

It may change your mind as he was mere trying to prevent both a dressing down as to his ignorance along with a very unfavourable review in the appeal court ! - Pritchard, on 03/01/2008, -1/+5Holy crap. Yeah. Definitely don't give us any intelligence information. Surely, this is the true way to dumb people down. Gah! How I regret learning that 2 + 2 is 4.... How I regret it. I have since lost the ability to do math.
