- jezmck, on 10/10/2007, -0/+154 comments now, and still the majority are unhappy with it.
It does appear to be a way to pass the blame to the customer should there be any security compromised... - ccccc4, on 01/26/2008, -0/+0the only reason why most people are unhappy with the card readers is because they are all lazy and don't want to look further into how the reader would enhance there own personal security while they are doing there online banking!!!!
- Guinness2702, on 05/08/2008, -0/+0I complained to natwest about the card reader - they wouldn't budge. Instead they sent me two extra card readers free.
I'm still closing my account - ccccc4, on 01/26/2008, -0/+0oh my god, do you not realise that all European banks have been using this system for a long time now and that all banks will by the end of next year be using these card readers, plus at least at Natwest you can get additional card readers for free unlike at other banks such as Barclays where you have to pay £7for the card reader.
- earlond, on 11/26/2007, -0/+0I have used the card and I agree with all his arguments. I have been a victim of online fraud a couple of times, but I've always had my card covered and all the money was returned to my account. This device is not meant to protect the banks and insurance companies, not the customers. They don't care if they have caused us inconvenience.
In fact I think instead of discussing the pros and cons of this card reader, we should all swap banks. That would send them the right signal. I am closing my account for sure, there's no point in online banking if there's no portability. - soiland, on 10/27/2007, -0/+0I don't see much value from this blogger's comments, as he has not yet used the device. If I took time to actually click on "Card reader" in the online bank he would see that he can choose which card he will use for authentication. The card reader isn't meant as an interface to do payment with your card (although that could be an interesting application), but as a way to identify the OWNER for accessing any of his accounts, not just the debit account.
- ccccc4, on 01/26/2008, -0/+0i completely agree with you there, plus i work for a bank and i know that all banks are going to bring this new system into place.
